Honestly I don't even have a number to throw out for comparison becauseI haven't parsed coil in months because we have 1-4 on farm and our t5 progress is almost completely execution/positioning issues not lack of DPS (so far), so I don't really care about parsing DPS as long as lack of DPS is not an apparent issue. 68k sounds pretty good for your gear. I can parse my run tonight and report back if you want a ballpark number from a more geared MNK.

I got a bit worried since the DRG in our party parsed almost 90K, so I started being paranoid of being a bad player XD

What I was thinking is that maybe the big difference was caused by the lack of DoT tracking by the parser and from the fact that DRG fired LB3 (not even sure if that counts in the parser or not).

Generally speaking, I also never care of parsers, but in this occasion someone posted the results aftermath in party chat.

In general a DRG should never be out-parsing you on a single target fight. That sounds like an LB3 in the DRG's number. However, even with that said, the DRG is doing better than you, since you should be ahead of the DRG, not counting the LB.

How about DoT? Does the parser counts them?

Depends on the parser and the version. All 3 parsers will model DoTs in their latest versions. It won't be 100% accurate, but it won't be far off of reality though.

Quick one-shot, no LB damage included. I forgot to eat food since t1 is so easy at this point. We don't feed slugs after split so our overall damage is lower than if you let it heal back up from eating.

....so the 90k dmg from DRG less geared then me is either exceptionally good or wrong lol. We'll never know I guess XD

What? That is crazy talk right there! When you have things on farm, trying to beat your own dps is one of the most entertaining things to do when you raid. That, and having competition between the dps to see who gets the top damage done. (I'm not flaming you, just having a bit of fun) But ya, for me when I get to that point when raiding, it's the dps meter that gets me to continue to raid.

Actually, despite the misconception out there, drg dmg isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. I play both and get fairly similar numbers when I play either of them with the drg being just a bit behind my mnk. You could say I'm a bad mnk, but at the same time, without counting the LB and in IL 55 gear sans the two IL 70 rings (I got rings first so I can use them on both jobs I play) I avg ~205 dps on bosses and 170 on hm titan. My drg lags behind by about 10 dps. (I know my numbers aren't the greatest, but for my gear they aren't terrible).

Edit: I got the garuda weapon on my mnk along with the DL head and chest and now I am doing ~230 dps on bosses in AK/WP and ~195 on titan hm.

Monk is my second favourite job in the game, love love love it, but my beloved Warrior has it beat out <3
Should be even better when WARs get there third combo operational, and our Wrath attacks become more usuable :D

Hmm ... I should have remembered to remember what I parsed last night, or saved the data or something ...

All I remember is that I started missing when I got an upgrade and dropped to 476 acc on twintania.

You're welcome. Do you remember if you got to LB3 and used it? We kill it in like 4 minutes and only get LB2 which I use to finish off the second snake (but I excluded the damage from the parse). If the fight lasted longer and the DRG did LB3 that would be a big boost to his total, plus his rotation might have been better (longer fight with more slugs fed = more total damage to be done).

Regarding Howling Fist and Steel Peak, there is absolutely no reason to not throw them out as free damage in coil. In turn 4 you will want to prioritize Howling for the AOE packs rather than single targets, but you'll have time to use it several times against other things, too. In turn 5, save those two for parts of the fight where you need more burst damage like conflags and dreadknights. Other than that though you should just make a habbit of working them into your rotation (probably wait until you have GL3 going for better damage).

Yeah I am quite sure it was LB3, so I guess he DID have a better rotation than mine, but still mine wasn't that ugly =)

Only change I believe you should make to that is skill speed in general as all classes can get it, if anything you should ask if MNKs will be getting another form of TP regeneration period (Fist of water? yea yea? 8D). But I do get what you are asking, and I do hope that their answer is one that I will like, but if not oh well. MNK gotta be held in check somehow.

They would have to do more than just add tp regen to ss to make it worth while. If you stack 127 ss, it's equivalent to 5% haste (5% of 2.5 is .12, 10.6 ss = .01 ss reduction). So if you had 100% up time on a enemy, over a 5 minute fight instead of getting 120 special attacks in (with no GL) you would instead get 126 in. If you had 3 stacks of GL all fight long, instead of getting in 138 attacks in, you would get 144 in.

Ok I'll ask that. We get like 50 TP Regen in battle maybe 60 TP would be good enough. Cause I've had cut back on SkSp a lot.

Monk's Greased Lightning effect, for example, will be increased. Also, we've noticed that because there are so few damage bonuses for attacking from an enemy's rear, players generally focused on attacking from the side. We'll be increasing bonuses for rear attacks, so if you use monk the way we had intended, your DPS will increase significantly.

So it looks like a ~10% increase in overall DPS is confirmed.

they just try to put all classes on the same feet , with those changes , in coil for example , blm = mnk =drg =smn damage ( even if u have to dodge everything ) and not just in static dummy like bosses.

also they want us to play with 8 different classes per group : " lb 2 and lb3 will be slower to grind with more than one job of each job in the game per group "

So 2.2 will feature monk nerfs. If not holy crap...

And hello threat cap every fight.

in 2.2 , i don't think they'll put more static bosses , like ak/wp etc .....so it'll change nothing.

Additional note btw - our Blood for Blood is now 10%, down from 20%.
Hardly offsets these major buffs, just mentioning.

Positioning is also going to play a bigger role as True Strike's position matters much more now and Demolish actually has a positional bonus.
This looks like it'll add a lot more flavor to our rotation, even though I already use Bootshine and True Strike.

To some extent. You will still need to make sure to maintain your buffs if you use it for burst and True Strike does not add a GL stack.

These buffs are nuts. Do I have to afk for 30 seconds before every fight now so I don't take aggro or what? To be fair some of the changes require more demanding play with more constant positional movement from flank to back but the GL buffs looks particularly excessive to me.

I didn't think Monks needed damage buffs, just something to make losing GL3 less punishing. This will be interesting to see how much dps we are doing next week.

I think our threat is an issue on purpose. Right now we sit on top of the DPS meters but we are the only dps without threat reducing abilities. That means while we do more damage it gives other a way of catching us. It also caps our dps so no mater how good we are we will never be over a certain level.

I am so damned happy they didn't increase the duration on GL. That is our skill check and I like it just the way it is. The other buffs are nice bonuses and fast/more shoulder tackle is so nice and will be great for keeping up GL.

Sadly one ilm punch is still trash and fists of wind is still pointless... even worse with faster shoulder tackles.

Shield Oath is buffed, more enmity gain, and WAR will be as viable as PLD as main tank, so maybe threat will not be our major trouble in 2.1

So how does making our rotations more complex and important make it easier to play?

Are you serious or a troll?

GL stacks are even more important now. We have a new attack to use from rear and an attack that is now our most powerful ability if used correctly that used to be nearly unusable in a rotation.... Did I miss something?

As Rochetm said, I don't see it.
We'll be OP as all hell but difficulty of the class will only increase with the changes made. The rotation now has more position demands and losing GL3 is a bigger deal.
Demolish even has a positional attack now attached to the dot.

The difference in skill between Monks will be more apparent than ever.
