Same - I'm fine out in the open world, but then as soon as I get into an instance I'm looking at anywhere from .5sec - 2sec delay on everything that I do. It's leading to a lot of messed up cards, overheals, and eating AoE that I shouldn't. I feel like it's AST hardmode...

Considering everything else on my end is fine (Network, Connection, Latency, etc.), it would have to be on SE's end. And they keep claiming they're being DDoS'd, but DDoS does not explain all the crap that happened during Early Access with Raubahn Savage and Duty Finder constantly acting up, and it seems like every time something happened with "Network Technical Difficulties," they blame it on a "DDoS Attack." But eventually, that excuse is going to start running dry.

It's sad how people like you want to white knight everything just for the sake of white knighting.

Rarely have I ever complained about the constant slew of problems SE seems to be having with their servers lately, but when it gets to the point where I cannot progress or level or get anything done, and SE's only excuse is "We're being DDoS'd again"? I get really fed up. And considering how congested some servers are (Balmung), and the fact that they've had to implement an auto-logoff/auto-kick EVERYBODY feature to get rid of the AFKer's because their servers (newly, upgraded NA servers) can't handle this kind of congestion? It shows poor planning and poor server maintenance on their end.

Not even Heavensward launch had as many issues as Stormblood's Early Access did (they had one instance where Balmung crashed the servers, but after they were back up from that, no issues), what with the sheer number of people that were unable to progress past the very first MSQ solo instance for 24-48 hours until it was finally fixed, and now with Duty Finder issues and "Network Technical Difficulties"/"World Technical Difficulties" every other day. It does fall on SE when they don't properly plan around this kind of congestion (I'm sure they have all the sales numbers on how many people purchased EA to SB, and I am sure they could have taken more steps to try and plan around the anticipated congestion--overestimating it would have been far better than underestimating it), or stress test their own brand new servers.


Ending this rant here because that's not what this thread is about. I wish I could post a DF story to get it back on topic, but I haven't tried queuing into anything today, since I didn't want to get stuck in a queue when they announced the daily mass exodus. I'm sure I'll have one tonight though.

The individual I quoted added no helpful advice, comments, or anything remotely polite in response to my mini-rant, which was posted in this thread just so I could feel a little bit better about being so incredibly frustrated with the lag I experienced in Doma Castle yesterday (and how I was ignored by the tank when I politely asked twice if I could quickly restart my client in hopes that doing so would fix it so that I could play normally).

They basically told me that it was "sad" people "like me" choose to blame SE because we're getting fed up with the same "We're being DDoS'd again" excuse that pops up every time there's a server or network issue now (because it's not just me getting fed up, but a lot of people in my circle of friends, too). SE failed to adequately prepare for the amount of players that swarmed the servers during Early Access, but did I complain about being stuck on the MSQ and Raubahn Savage for 2 days? No. I just quietly leveled my gatherers. Did I complain when the Duty Finder continued to not work for the majority of the Early Access period? No. I dealt with that. Did I complain when SE claimed they were being DDoS'd again a couple days ago (and still claim it based off of the login notification I see every time I log in? No. But now, it's getting to where I can barely get any sort of progress done in DF with regards to my DoW/DoM jobs, because that is the only place where I experience such terrible lag/disconnects; the overworld is completely fine. And as much as I love crafting and gathering, I would like to be able to level up my AST or my RDM or finish gearing up my BRD, but--horrible DPS queues aside--I can't seem to do that because the lag is so bad when I finally do get into a duty. And performing checks on my end, I can confirm my connection and everything else is fine. So then, where else could the issue possibly lie? With SE.

The DDoS excuse is becoming meaningless to me, but I'm not entitled to have my own opinion because it's not defending SE? Because I feel like there's more SE could do about their server problems? Because I feel like this isn't a DDoS attack anymore, but that DDoS has just become an excuse to cover up a larger issue with server instability? Sorry if I take issue with being told to just accept the fact that SE can do no wrong, because that's certainly not the case.

Kinda triggered right now. Just did Zurvan normal, from trials roulette. I get in with another scholar, and i'm healing when needed and dpsing when healing is not needed. I ended the fight with no mana, and only one person died, they didn't get in the circles and had a large dot on them (they had the returner aswell). I actually thought they were not healing that much either because I kept having to use my larger spells. Anyway right at the end:

Honestly, I can buy the DDoS attack story. Of course, my own evidence is anecdotal and is more easily chalked down to coincidence, but GamerEscape got ransomwared, and I've personally witnessed ads on YouTube, from other game developers, who tried to pass off the Stormblood trailers as trailers for their own game. So yeah, I'd imagine there are people out there who profit from dragging FF XIV in the mud, and for whatever reasons are going to extreme lengths to do so.

It's much more likely that all these events are completely unrelated and I should stop crafting conspiracy theories, but hey, not much else for me to do when the thought of doing more crafting is making me vomit blood.

The DDoS attacks likely have nothing to do with profit, and it's not like it's a unique problem to FFXIV, pretty much every online game launch or expansion has been plagued by them over the last few years. Some people are just asshats.

Bet you my life savings somewhere down the line, he's gonna want his healers to dps. That's why I don't give a damn anymore about what healers do anymore (so long as they keep me alive) cuz they go through so much shit about how they should play.

If healers ONLY healed who would play healer? The fact they CAN dps in between heals makes them interesting. sounds like whoever cried there wasn't too bright.

When someone says "white knight" or SJW in a negative context, I can almost assure you the person who said it is an Nazi sympathizer/MRA/gamergate/sociopath or all four.

There is never any reason to put down people defending something. People need to know the difference between defending, and ass-kissing. The latter is where people defend something/someone/some brand because they get, or hope to benefit by doing so. If you think someone is being a white knight, or social justice warrior on a cause that is indefensible, then call out the indefensible, don't resort to name-calling the person.

Nobody is going to get any benefit by defending SE or Yoshi-P on the forum other than maybe not get ban-hammered since it's against the ToS to be a jerk to SE/SE staff.

I'd advise people to just drop it to avoid SE staff cleaning up the thread.

Rude much.

If people want to DPS as a healer, let them. When the party wipes, then point it out. Likewise if people want to be pure healer, let them. If the boss takes 30% longer because of it, then that's not the healers problem either.

Thank you for generalizing and marginalizing a group of people who have nothing in common with those four things you listed but who might, at certain times, disagree with a given cause I.E. that email about a recent zombie game where people thought the title was a racial slur when it was not.

Back on topic though:

Nothing makes me want to keep healing dungeons more than when I don't cast Protect fast enough so someone starts spamming / slap on me. That's just childish folks.

Why oh why did I get grouped with a healer that didn't do their level 70 job quest in Temple of the Fist? We cleared but holy it was painful with a healer in a mix of whites/greens.

the other day i got hatil hard mode for my roulette everybody in the party was around the upper end of sb so none of us remembered how the marmet worked so big aoe goes we all lived through it baerly then the boss breathed on use or something everybody put the tank died so then the paladin
solos the last 50% of boss himself with the rest of us siting outs side the boss fight the whole time i'm trying to figue out where he was getting these big heal form after which he x potions are ops here huh? kicker was at the time form all my sam potd runs i had 100 of things on me i was so used to them being useless i forgot i even had them

I ran my leveling roulette as AST today as I am trying to level all healers eventually and got stuck with some of the most confused RDM's ever. Neither of them understood their rotation and the first pack of trash took forever to kill especially with my complete lack of balance cards.

The crazy part? They were both totally open to me explaining things to them! And the tank was okay with waiting! And the DPS then applied what I told them and vastly improved their performance! By the end of the run the tank was double pulling again.

It was so nice to have that situation turn around for me, just goes to show that offering help is never a bad idea.

Nah. As a male I can honestly say that 99% of MRAs are douchebags and the other one percent are misguided idiots.

Me and my tank buddy have been finding more and more nice sprouts as of late. We got a healer in Temple of Qarn HM who kept applying HoTs pre pull, we kindly explained not to do that and gave some tips. They were so thankful! :)
There have been more instances with just generally nice and chatty ones who would sponge every little tip and pointers on mechanics. That's been very refreshing!

To Topic:
Yesterday i ran the lvl 70 temple dungeon for a friend -> unbeknown to me, the 2 randoms were first timer too. We ran so smoothly through the whole dungeon, with the healer perfectly adjusting to pulls, new mobs, the orbs spawning in the end & so on. I was really surprised to see 3 achievements pop up at the end.

A fun & very quick run through a lvl 70 dungeon. Doesnt happen very often lately :D

I ran Royal Menagerie for the first time last night. Tried to make a full FC party, but had to grab rando tank and DPS. We wiped twice. So obviously you know who the problem was. It was me, running around spamming Adlo and Indomitable. No idea what was going on. Took a tail to face, ran off the icy edge. It was a mess. But after seeing everything, the third run was going so smoothly. I was keeping my DOTs up and no one was dieing. Then the tank I brought decided it would be a good idea to reddot and dc. The other tank was quick, but the damage had been done and we couldn't recover and we wiped. And a vote abandon popped up.

Trials roulette as a BLM. Zurvan normal. Double boosted ASTs. They both were doing twelve knows what because it sure as hells wasn't healing or DPSing. They let the DPS drop like flies, they let the MT die at one point which made Zurvan turn on me (Thank you Lucid Dreaming and Diversion for saving me), then I died due to not getting heals from the DoT he puts on you to break the seals despite being right next to one of them.

Honestly now. If you're going to boost something freaking read a guide for it or something. I keep getting stuck with terrible boosted tanks and healers. It's really inconsiderate to your group for you to jump into late content with a job you know nothing about, especially if it's something like a tank or healer.

Popped as DRK yesterday into Ramuh HM. No problems happened. PLD was new player and I made it known I didnt know tank mechs. Now here was the odd thing: without even looking at gear, I had 3k hp over the pld and yet one guy wantef PLD to main tank. Before he said that though, I had already pulled. Bowed out of the MT role and dpsed.

Was this the case of job tunneling or was it really the better option to make PLD MT because of job related attributes?

Pre SB PLD was basically MT because all they had going was all the CDs and defence so the general consensus was that if there was a PLD the PLD would MT and the DRK/WAR would OT/DPS. Not so sure how it stands post SB though.

Having this same issue with Zurvan EX clear parties. It's unsynced, but Soar is not always skipped -- and people get upset when they think it should be.

Also slightly related: people are trying to get clears for HW EX primals that they missed. Great! But so often lately, I see they minimum ilevel set to 290/300. Why?

If people could clear that content synced and echo-less, you do not need top tier gear from SB.

PLD's actually make great off-tanks now imo. They can jump in with emergency healing, Requiescat + Holy Spirit spam does a fair amount of damage, Cover/Divine Veil on the MT helps keep them in the game more, and your own dps has become slightly better with the increases to potency that pretty much all weaponskills got. Add to that that Fight or Flight has received a significant CD reduction (at the cost of a slightly lower damage increase) and you've got a fairly solid off-tank. Not ideal, but much better as an off-tank than it was before SB.

On topic, I got Shinryu in Trials earlier, only had one wipe. Either player skill is improving or people are having better gear. I'd like to think it's a mix of both, because the thing that caused the wipe was the new dps using LB3 (which actually doesn't do much to Shinryu with average gear levels being what they are), when seconds later crap went down and we needed the healer LB3. Smooth sailing on the second try though, everyone was on point for that.

I also got a good laugh out of the MT's max hp. He was a Warrior with over 60k hp in Defiance xD Side note, I was OT Pally during the fight :3

Nah, paladins were viable OTs, especially if there was a better geared DRK. Reprisal was only on DRK and easier to proc if they were MT. Also it was generally easier for the DRK to secure and keep aggro.

So Leveling roulette as BLM dropped me into Copperbell Mines. The DRK and NIN both had the returning player icon. The sproutling WHM was so obviously a jump potion user, I was surprised they didn't also have a spambot name.

This DRK's idea of tanking was to run headlong into a bunch of mobs (or pull them with Unmend if I was lucky), toss out a single Unleash (if I was lucky), then spend the rest of the time spamming Syphon Strike combos.

I tanked half that dungeon. The WHM spent the same amount of time with their arms crossed.

I don't think someone gets to complain that tanking is difficult if they refuse to even put the barest ounce of effort into it.

My newest FC members are both tanks, both did exactly this. Use flash once, and that's it.
It only took me a min to explain that they needed to keep aggro, and spamming flash was sometimes necessary.
They don't lose aggro anymore.

It's not surprising for first time tanks.

This was a couple of days ago, but I had been farming Susano EX for a while. After all my friends had gone to bed, I had decided to go a quick DR Expert. Can't remember which dungeon it was, but we were plodding along killing all the things. The RDM had gotten a Vul Up debuff and so I go to hit esuna.

I don't know who was more surprised, the RDM or me when they were pulled across the arena to my side instead.

Whenever I do roulettes lately it's some long drawn out snooze-fest baby dungeon or a complete clustercuss of a party for Susano that I was brought into as a replacement healer with 18 minutes left on the clock. There is no inbetween.

Shinryu, queued in progress, say I'm a newbie, they seem happy to have a new healer but I can tell something is off. We go, I try to follow along the best I can, and we hit the add phase. I rez a dead DPS, adlo him and the bombs start to land. I run to safety on the third round and two other DPS die, but I focus on healing the living party and the chains hit.

The DPS I rezzed in chat says, "Thank you for the rez but you should be healing the group and not wasting mana."

I just go "????" in the chat, and we very quickly die in the first rounds of the second part of the fight.

Wasting Mana is raising a dead DPS in a DPS check phase I had never seen before. I just can't.

We wiped from all the pain from the next phase since people decided to just run off to hammer a vote abandon.


Requeued for a new group, had a few learners. We wiped 7 times, but it was a lovely group and the round that got our win went great!

Last weekend I queued up for Leveling roulette with a couple of friends. Got Dzemael and we had a sprout healer who told my tank to pull all first room. We assumed he knew what he was doing. My friends goes and pulls all the mobs from the first room, we wipe a couple of minutes later.
Healer then starts griefing, saying how he was expecting our Red Mage (me) to do more damage. I reply to him how I just picked up the job, and I didn't see any AoE skills that could allow me to burn that down faster. No LB obviously since we just started.
Healer continued to insult me, saying how I got in the hype train and sucked at my job. Then demanded a kick.

We didn't kick him obviously, and I told him if he wanted to leave he could do so with a 30 min penalty. He sat at the entrance, not moving or chatting at all. After a while he says 'You 3 are friends fags', and I said 'You are free to leave'.

In the meantime, one of my friends and I tried to clear enemies in smaller pulls, and he said 'I won my overwatch match! Heh, I'm playing overwatch on my ps4'. We didn't reply, and just continued killing stuff. We did that for about half an hour.
After we cleared the first room, he catch up to us and does his job just fine like nothing happened.

We cleared the dungeon with 20 minutes remaining on the clock. I don't think it was worth it, but at least he wasted as much time as we did.

Kind of an old story now, but I remember a run of Fractal I had that was just awful. We had myself (WAR), my buddy (AST, or SCH? Not of huge importance), a BRD, and a MNK. MNK rarely did positionals, and used TK everytime it came up. I think they ended up parsing lower than I did, and the dungeon took a good 35 minutes.
Props to the BRD though. If you ever manage to read this, you were fuckin' awesome man!

I can attest to this. First time when I was lvling PLD, I thought all I had to do keep aggro was use flash once then enmity combo. Then someone explained to me that I should use 2-3 times and it would help me keep aggro better. Problem solved and that guy earned my comm.

Duty Roulette gives me Lakshmi, and all the dps seem to be new to the trial.

Its no joke to say between me and the other healer we must have raised like 12 times. This tank starts bitching about why aren't the dps being raised and why are the warriors doing all the work. Then we finish it mind you on that first pull. And he has the friggin nerve to tell us that we need to learn mana management and to learn your job.

I don't even have the words for how much I want to punch that person right in the face.

I've got a recent one, from last night (this morning, but for ease I'll call it last night.)
GF and I are progressing through the game together, and we just got to Susano last night. We invite a friend of ours to help, and sit in queue for 20 some-odd minutes. We finally get in, and a decent chunk of the party is new. No biggie, since one of the tanks and the other two dps (our friend, and a random BRD) give us tips on the mechanics.
After an initial rocky start, the off-tank gets the hang of the mechanics during the Sword thingy, and we're progressing really well, until the healers die to AoEs. No biggie, we go back, tank explains the AoEs (no responses.)
We wipe two more times, because they both die around the same point, at around the same time, to the same AoEs. The We finish it after that, because one of the healers learns the AoEs seemingly, and the OTank Covers the other.
Aside from the healers though, excellent party. Shout outs specifically to the OTank for that cover!

Never was there a vote kick that was so quickly decided upon; he can go AFK leech off some other people, but he won't be leeching off of me.

Why do people want to make others do all the work for them while they do nothing? I mean why play if you just want to AFK and do nothing just because that boss doesn't need all 4 people?

People are really trying my patience with this leech mentality.

Helped out a friend who got Shinryu for her trial-roulette and had a tank DC - so, queued up, got in... wiped three times, mainly due to healers not being able to heal through stuff. The scholar had constant MP-problem and wasnt able to do mechanics and the WHM... well... the WHM got checked out by me after the third try. Still using the ilvl270 shire-weapon, obviously didnt do his freaking level 70 jobquest! When I asked about it I get the response that yes, he knows, but the skill isnt any good so he didnt bother to do it -.-
So I tell him that its definitly worth it for the gear (since I dont really know how good the level 70-whm-skill is) and he goes "kick me then" - I have a whm-friend standing by, so we kick him to get her in. Before that I tell him to do his jobquest because I'm worried for the next group that will end up with that shitty, lazy healer who cant be bothered to put a decent effort in to actually beat that fight and is the reason people are crying for nerfs.
His response? "No."

I blacklisted him now, but people like that make me wish I could request their account to get locked...

Got a Brayflox hardmode, and low and behold my internet starts crapping out after the first boss, everyone teleporting around, we get to the last boss and I keep dying and dying. After the second wipe I apologized and had to leave, lag was so bad I couldn't even see the bombs.

Is it that hard to let the tank pull in dungeons? It's very annoying to see dps run ahead of me and pull when I'm tanking. I don't try to force tanks to pull more by grabbing it myself when I'm playing DPS or healer, I merely suggest it to them if I feel things are going too slow and the tank isn't taking much damage, but I'm not going to move ahead and force the tank to go at a pace they don't feel comfortable. Why does this seem controversial in the community? Just came off the tank forum where they laid into a new tank for saying they'll let DPS die if they pull something intentionally before them, saying they had an "ego" and were on a "power trip." Why is it considered "toxic" to just let players play their role? :/

I say this because I had a run in 50/60 roulette today where we were going at a pretty fast pace and I was tanking, obviously we out-geared it like crazy and we had only been in there ten minutes upon arriving at the final boss. But the other DPS was running ahead of me, pulling everything before me, and while I dealt with it the entire run up until the last boss, they pulled the boss before the healer or I had even gotten into the room, so we got locked out. I ask "was I going too slow?", only to receive snarky comments from the DPS like "aww was I going too fast for you?" and then they stood outside and refused to join the fight when we went in again. They typed things like "I love watching you do all the work while I sit out here" and "I'm better than you" (yeah, no, no joke). It just felt so stupid and ridiculous. This kind of shit discourages me from tanking at all.
