Way I read it is if you are a O2 customer you can get the codes for free by using there Priority thing (not quite sure how that works)

This has all just got too much for me, I wanted the items when they first came out, was crushed when I was given US-codes, was let-down again when the UK item campaign was announced. All the different ways and means have just got me too tired to care anymore even though I still want the items it's got too complicated to work out how I'm supposed to go about it. The whole thing is just so "urgh".
SE Promitional team are all over the place with this.
There is no clear pathway or identity with these rambled together promotions - and no clear target audience that they seem to be targetting.
They are very clearly unprofessional by how this has all gone down.
Think they are using interms for these?
So much for a professional, global brand name. Pft.
Is it that much bother to just run the promotion through GAME stores and such? Okay 7/11 isn't video game related but at least it's a physical place you can go to to take part, as opposed to sending photos of yourself to a(n awful) magazine, or just happening to be with the right phone provider! (given my friends' experience with O2 I'm never getting involved with them, but hey :P). I don't care for these items personally, I'd never use them, but this campaign is so bizarre and - especially with this new method - isolating. I know someone will pipe up about how "we begged for them to give us this event too, we should be grateful" or something, yes that's wonderful but Japan didn't have to jump through these absurd hoops to get them. Just like...attach them to a minimum purchase at a game store...1 code per customer. Bam.
So I went to my local GameStop in Denmark to ask if they had the code, and lo and behold they had never even heard of it.
So now I'm a little confused, do they have a campaign deal with gamestop or not? Where am I supposed to go to buy these things (as much as I'm starting to not wanna throw my money into this, I'm still wondering what the hell is supposed to be going on lol)
That's how 02 priority works, it offers vouchers, discounts, promo codes and specialist offers to 02 customers, it's not so much that SE is giving codes for free, but rather that 02 subsidises the cost.
The promo itself isn't unfair, however the lack of knowledge that this would exist (if you already did any of the other promos) is unfair. This is probably the most reasonable promo to date
Well this new UK promo still is not nice since its missing the clothes and the mount (or maybe I am blind)...
Its already discussed in another thread but china gets another exclusive item...and two of the pictures have the butler outfit too..
https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme..._have_it_once/
So does that mean that the chinese players not only get exclusive items that are just made for them (we only own the minions) but are also getting the maid and butler outfits? :(
Meanwhile for the other EU countries......
Sad to say, but this is probably the worst game promotion event that I have witnessed.
What an awful promotion, give EU players a simpler option to get the items or just put them in the mogstation.
wondering, why the UK get another Promo, but other EU countries are waiting for the event
Yea, realized I could've done that but honestly not sure I cared enough at the moment, or now, to go back. Mostly just writing here because I'm so baffled at how convoluted this even has been.. I mean they advertised it as "buy a thing from x chain" not "there's a code somewhere, go find it, gl with the hunt".
So---does SE want to give us a way to get the codes in a simple way before they expire or-----is someone having too much fun up there watching the EU playerbase jump through hoops unlike NA or--am I just missing something? o-o;
Has anyone managed to get their white chocobo yet or are they still waiting after 24+ hours of the final GamesMaster magazine?
Correct me if I am wrong, my old brain can be some kind of crappy some times, but isn't that the second promotion UK gets?
Thanks, so why do they get a second already, even though I have to admit their first one really sucked, but countried like Germany, etc. still wait for their innitial one?
Why can't they just do an Amazon promotion like the U.S. got? Many people don't buy gamesmaster any more, and not everyone is on O2 =/
Did not mean the new items like the barding but more that it seems that they also just get the butler outfit. ^^; If they can buy those in their mog station, than this would be quite mean to us, imo.
[And even if some things are stripped from their game like some monsters or if they get some patches later they still can play it (they do have the gold saucer)..maybe giving them one exclusive thing would be enough, like that recolored behemoth mount? They get more and more exclusive items that seem to be created by SE them self (the other thread has pictures about the creation of the mount)..and they are some nice items too. :(]
Too many US players conned Amazon by ordering things then cancelling as soon as the electronic codes came through. Effectively Amazon got nothing out of it, other than stock issues & potential costs. If I was Amazon I'd have immediately reconsidered any future promotions for FFXIV of that type.
Did Amazon post something where they said that they got nothing out of it? If not, how can we say that it was bad for them? I mean I know that some people cheated on this, but I am quite sure that this was the minority. And lets not forget that anyone that ordered only to cancel later never would have bought something without the promotion. So amazon would have never gotten their money anyway. And people cancel their preorders for more reason all the time, so it should not be such a uncommon situation for amazon too. (People cancel and send things back on a regular basis so it probably did not truly hurt them) Yet there are a lot of other FF14 players that ordered something only for the codes and kept those items. ;) Those are the ones that are important for Amazon since those might not have ordered without the campaign.
Nobody knows if SE paid them money to send out these codes (seems likely for me) or if Amazon had to pay them (more unlikely for me).
Don't want to sound mean but if one does not have the proof that this was the reason or that this truly hurt them, than its sound more as a "Its the fault of the US players that we cant have nice things" and I find this wrong, even as a EU player myself. :) Maybe SE disliked what happened and choose other promotions thanks to that. But we can never know.
I cant truly write down what I thing about this and maybe what reasons they had since that would probably end up with my post deleted so I just say "SE employees are only humans and thus are also able to make mistakes". I just gave up any hope that after over 100 pages, we would get any comment from them...which in my opinion is quite sad..since we are all paying customers..:(
My last hope is that we will know soon what the other campaigns will be about and that maybe one of them is not restricted and limited...
That's a myth and pure speculation. Yes, some people abused the system but the promotion was designed with that in mind - and Amazon stood to make a profit regardless of the behaviour of those players. They've run many similar campaigns in the past with similar rules, regulations and loopholes so I doubt that FFXIV changed anything.
MMO's operating within Europe and particularly the UK, however, have a long track record of handling stuff in a clunky and bizarre manner. WoW inexplicably charges UK players more for digital purchases - including the monthly subscription - than it does people in most other countries. FFXIV did the same by bumping up the price of the 3.0 collector's edition for UK players and never elaborated as to why that was. Now, predictably, UK players get an especially clunky promotion that screwed us over and nothing has been done so far to remedy the mistakes made. There hasn't been an official reply to this thread in quite some time and even those we received early on seemed to avoid the core concerns being raised. Furthermore we didn't get a mention in the latest Live Letter to alleviate concerns either which leaves us with no choice but to keep this thread active and hope that someday we get a solution to this mess.

Looks like GamesMaster is sending out the codes for Original Fat Chocobo, got mine about half hour ago. If you're expecting one you might have one too! (Don't forget to check your junk/spam folder!)
