Yoshida mentioned 'emote' when he first even brought up the idea for Jump and as far as I know, emotes serve no true purpose outside of a few quests and can't be used in battle or active mode.
So it's just a mechanic to not feel tethered, highly unlikely it will have any real implementation.
What I want to know, is with this whole map re-vamping deal, as well as jumping being thrown in, will we be able to jump onto and off of things? Like in Aion, you could jump off of pretty much anything, nevermind the whole flying bit, and take damage if you fall too far. It would be neat to add that sort of movement freedom not only to getting over that rock which is just slightly higher than the ground you're walking on, but could(in my opinion) be used to make certain instances or boss fights more than just run away from skill a, stay behind to avoid skill b.
I can picture a group fighting Titan in a sandy, craggy area. Titan begins a chain of abilities, starting with something like quicksand to aoe bind anyone standing in sand and not on one of the rocks. He then follows up with a skill that hits harder, the closer you are to him. Finishing the combo, he uses a third ability which I cannot think of a name for, which detonates all of the safe-zone rocks and causes new ones to fall from the ceiling, forcing a repositioning, movement, and preventing people from standing in one spot the entire throwdown.
Despite the one or two curveballs that Ifrit can randomly toss your way, he's mostly a tank-and-spank fight. Something to get your fingers moving would be more appealing to people like me, who like challenges.
yeah I have to admit, that jump was not bad at all, chose that type of jump, add in restriction in battle, and I would be happy. That was my main beef about jump, was that in WoW (the little I played) I would take a PvP challenge, and all they would do was jump around me, it was very stupid, and I quit PvP all together after the 20th time.
Normal hight jump, with a delay in reusing, and disable it in battle, then I would not care if it was added or not.
I did a trial of WoW, and I've watched friends play.. everywhere.. people hopping... hopping insanely high... people hopping even inside buildings, smashing their heads against the ceilings.. hopping instead of running or walking. It really WAS an eyesore. lol I think it didn't annoy me as much in Aion because I rarely saw people hop for no reason, they jumped to begin flying.
I hope SE can do a good job of it, and restrict it where needed. That's all I'm asking for at this point.
