You should consider other peoples buffs and skills when you're tanking a dungeon, if you're pulling really slow or only pulling 2 mobs at a time with an AOE heavy group, you're just wasting your own time as well as the others. It's less about "numbers and stats" than it is about doing things as quickly and efficiently as possible. I agree that people should be courteous and give the tank the right of way, but too often are tanks ignorant of other classes buffs and cooldowns and expect everyone to go at their pace, no matter how slow. Also, please don't be that Paladin that stoneskins himself before _every single pull_. It really is a waste of time and ruins a lot of good DPS rotations.
ROTFLMAO.
So, now the tank has to know not only their own skill set, the dungeon, the fights and the bosses, they have to know which buffs on which DPS remain active and for how long after each pull is over? Right..... Come on, that's just ridiculous. Oh, and BTW, if a Tank wants to take 2.5 seconds to cast SS on them self before a pull, who the hell are you to tell them no?
That, my friend, is what party Finder and pre-made groups are for. Find 3 others who share your point of view/goals and have at it.
Oh, and actually the topic is about a player who's tired of other players forcing the pace of a run for their own purpose, by running ahead and pulling before the tank get's there (forcing the tank to always be in catch up mode to recover aggro they never held), whether the tank likes it or not, you might want to read the OP again if you think otherwise.
haha, I never really thought twice about pauses between pulls until I started leveling ninja. There are time where I see it fall off because we've been sitting around for some reason, and mentally I'm always like "nuuuuuuuuuu!", but that's about it for me. Recasting is easy, of course, but it is fun to see how far to you can go on your initial Huton cast.
They don't have to know the exact skills or buffs on the DPS, it's safe to assume most DPS classes will have buffs ticking down after a group of mobs is killed. There's no reason to waste these buffs as they can take a while to build back up, therefore sacrificing a big chunk of DPS (and adding more unnecessary time). You might think that 2.5s stoneskin is not a lot but the tank has to stop in order to cast it, which in turn slows down the group and lets buffs expire only for that stoneskin to be removed in one second by the very first mob the tank aggros. It's pointless.
I'm *still* used to refreshing between pulls because before armor crush that's what you did.
I'd rather the tank focus on his/her role instead of worrying about my cooldowns since I control when I use my skills. If I go as nin, same thing, I will take responsibility for my own cooldowns and adjust according to the pace of the tank and healer.
I think the most obstructive thing for my cooldowns is when other summoners are in pt because stuff dies so fast I waste my skills. Still, this is not a bad thing and nothing I would ask another player to adjust their routine for, its just fun learning new ways to cast when stuff changes.
