Had a wonderful experience in the Rhalgars Reach dungeon last night.../sarcasm. We started, it was my first time and the tank decided to pull everything to the first moss wall. I was rather worried since mass pulling was risky in SB dungeons and this did not dissapoint. I was cure II spamming like a mad man, no break to do anything, all the cds poped, everything. Tank didn't notice anything was wrong with his hp almost hitting 0 multiple times and proceeded to do the same thing again and promptly died. This tank did not use a single cd except berserk and I found out a couple of pulls later he was in full i270 str accessories WHAT!? I naturally question this *ahem* 'interesting' choice in accessories and the reply is "oh this is the meta" at this point I just want to jump off the cliff and kill myself. Is full i270 str accessories meta on tanks? Like seriously? Are you joking?!? This combined with the tanks inability to use cds made him harder to keep alive than the dps.I just wanted to scream at this point, I only didn't leave because I felt sorry for my dps friends and I didn't want to kick for fear of not getting another tank. Half way through this train wreck the tank says " i forgot whm could use holy" couldn't tell if this was a scathing remark because I didn't dps (because I couldn't) or if he was genuinely surprised at seeing holy again (since I doubt his previous healers had the opportunity to use it). I just remained silent in party chat while crying/screaming in fc chat. If this is really the new meta I hope SE change it back again, good lord getting ptsd to old str tanks that couldn't tank pre vit change. As a comparison the next dungeon I got a pld with 43k hp, our str war had 41k hp, let that sink in.

Yep.
It's due to the fact that tanks no longer get attack power from vitality since stormblood.

Thus the best accessories for damage are, i270 ones.


The meta has always been, have enough hp to survive the tank busters+autos and then stack damaging stats.



This is a direct result of SE trying to forcibly change the meta by removing attack power from vit, moving it all back to str, and forcing tanks to wear fending accessories past level 60.

They can't fight the meta this way.
The meta is a result of the encounter design.

If they want the meta to change, they need to change the encounter design in a way that will have their desired effect.
Not try and force their desires via restrictions on equipment.

Why don't they just change it back to scale off vit, what was wrong with that!? ;-; Just as an off comment we had a tank in standard tank gear and the dungeon was significantly faster because she could mass pull, I could do the old regent then dps, the dps and me went to town aoe spamming and everything melted. In comparison to the meta where we wiped, couldn't do large pulls and I couldn't contribute to dps in any form. I'll take the standard tank gear tanks pls.

Yep, this is true. Sadly, its also going to teach new tanks some very harsh lessons. Tanking in low level dungeons is almost impossible now. I honestly have a harder time holding hate in lv30 and under dungeons than I did when I was at level for those dungeons in early HW. They removed so much of a tank's aggro ability with the damage changes that without tank stance tanks are putting out the same amount of aggro a dps is. If a tank doesn't use str melds then their first 30 levels are going to be a nightmare.

Even with tank stance it is noticably harder to control aggro between 35 and 50; after 50 its still easy though. But wow, you'll have to be dedicated to put up with it for those first levels if you're new to the game and/or tanking.

This is just going to teach them to stack STR acc as they level up so they have a better time holding aggro, the higher DPS will just be a bonus for them. Healers will be left holding the short end of the stick unfortunately.

As it is, as someone that hates the tank dps meta, I'm considering getting some slaying acc just so I can actually tank! Thats just....well I'm not allowed to say those thoughts.

Here's hoping that they change it back, was thinking of lvling secondary (a pld) now I'm reconsidering it. This seems like a massive oversight on SEs part. Back when tanks used to stack str you'd get 1 good str tank for every 20 bandwagoners that didn't know wtf to do, I probably had the latter, by changing one thing they've made stuff miserable for tanks and healers.

Nothing overly exciting. Coming back from a two+ year break, decided to get back into tanking on an alt character. Eventually get to Tam Tara, load in, everything seems fine. Do one pull, and the Lancer immediately cries out 'big pulls pls.' ...Wasn't too keen on the idea, seeing none of us had any AoEs to make the run go any faster, so I just politely told them I'd rather pull at my own pace. ..Ended up getting kicked right before the final boss.

Tried to do the same dungeon again. We did succeed, only it took close to an hour. One of the DPS disconnected at the start and I assume the other two players were completely new. Didn't respond, not that I minded, but progress was slow. The healer kept going semi-afk and the DPS was doing.. Something. I tried to communicate still, but again, no response. The biggest kicker was that after 45 minutes the DPS logged back in as if nothing happened and killed the final boss with us.

And after allll that. No comms. </3

They may have been bots. Don't call anyone a bot directly if you see them just report their names.

Did levelling roulette (AST) with a friend (RDM), ended up in the level 61 dungeon. Just before the final boss, there's a big mob who can drag everyone into an AoE. This is stunnable.

First time it happens, tank doesn't stun. No big deal.

Second time, tank doesn't stun. Still not a big deal, but I let him know that move can be stunned for future reference. I figure he's new. (He wasn't.)

Him: Tanks don't get a stun
Me: You actually still have one, it's in your role actions
My friend: Press p you can find it there
Him: There's better stuff to cross role
My friend: LMAO ok
Him: lmao indeed

I haven't played a tank in SB yet. But huh? I never figured stun was optional, even if there's less demand for it in SB dungeons. As a tank, that would be one of the actions I take 100% of the time, just in case.

It was his attitude that put me off the most.

Would explain a bit, but I doubt the other DPS was a bot. They looked more confused, than anything. Are there any signs to know it's a bot other than just not responding?

-Weird movement patterns
-Only using one or two spells out of their toolkit
-Keymash usernames (not to be confused with lore accurate Seawolf Roegadyn names, they kind of look like welsh)
-They're usually archers or black mages but I've seen a few arcanists and conjurers before

Only thing this DPS would tick off of here is the movement patterns. Keymash names are always a worrying sign when I bump into them. The Healer's only problem was that they kept going afk randomly, but, who knows. You're probably right. Either way, that run was the most torturous thing I had to tank in a long, long while.

Not that I'm a fan of this at all (I'm so not, my bf mains WAR and in 4man content I will login to his account to put VIT accessories on him if I have to) but on the healer forums here we have talked for a long time in the Great Healer DPS Debate about wanting content hard enough to heal through to make our DPS not an option... Did we do this to ourselves? Did SE actually listen to cretique and take it to heart? Cause if so ow.

For my own contribution did level 63 dungeon with 2 DPS pals (SAM and RDM who were clearly buddies) and my bf and I were giving them brief rundowns before each fight since they were new. They were doing such a good job through the second boss I even commented and said something about the damage being really consistant because it was.

Last boss. She's got like 20% HP left when the sharks summon and DPS keep burning the boss. I say "sharks please" and start killing the one on the SAM. My bf starts typing the same thing a moment later because they haven't switched targets still and eats Mad Stare. So he's bumbling around while I throw out some heals because the SAM ripped threat immediately (like I said good damage) but can't take a hit when the sharks on the RDM and me go off.

I know we are dead, we all had like half health even with Medica II ticking, so I get out a Bene on my boyfriend.

Then this badass switches to Deliverance and takes down the last 10% on his own! He fell cleeved so many times! I was very proud from my spot on the ground.

Best part? He tanked the giant tenticle monster on the spot where the SAM died xD

Just came across one of the worst tanks I have experienced in my life. I was on SAM and Selli was healing, we queue for Trials and get Bismark HM. This tank was a DRK who didn't have Grit on and actually turned Darkside off when it came to DPSing the spine. They were repeatedly losing aggro to the adds to the point where Selli had to Bene the other healer and was spam healing herself to stay alive. Both healers proceed to die because the mages weren't being tanked and the DRK flips out that the healers died to his/her adds and weren't able to hit the DKs... lol.

Leveling roulette as SCH drops me into Brayflox's Longstop. WAR, NIN, BRD. Not my favourite dungeon, but whatever. For some stupid reason, this unsynced WAR (who had PLD at 70, and dear god do I feel sorry for every other healer who has ever had to deal with this piece of work) decided to do big pulls. Because BRD + NIN is such a fantastic AoE combination at level 34.

Meanwhile, my MP is being sucked dry with trying to keep this idiot tank alive through these pulls that are taking forever to die, while also throwing out some DPS. Did I mention they were wearing STR accessories? It did not help.

To be clear, I could've kept my MP up. I'm overgeared and overlevelled for that dungeon, and I had Lucid Dreaming in addition to Aetherflow. So yeah, if I really wanted to, I could've managed my MP issues just fine. And yet, I couldn't help but think about how awful it must be, to be a new, unsynced, undergeared healer, landing with this tank who doesn't give two diddly shits about mechanics or party composition or literally anything that isn't their own convenience.

So I spoke up, asking if these pulls were really worth it. The NIN agreed that they weren't. The BRD just basically told me to stop arguing. Of course this WAR didn't want to listen.

We trundled along to Aiatar. At this point, I just wanted it to be over and done with. (Also if there is one good thing about the healer role abilities now, SCH gets Esuna at any level, and that is just the new best thing ever.) Aiatar started vomiting all over his room, and regenerating health, as he does. WAR refused to move him out of poison pools.

Who even knows why? Sure, just park the boss' ass right inside a pit of poison. Not like we had a melee DPS or anything, who needed to stay on that exact spot to actually do damage.

Oh, wait.

Once again, some people are just beyond help.

Got multiple groups at the end boss fight who are even too dumb to push the button.

All I want to do is level my PLD, but terrible players keep making it so difficult. 50 minute Shisui runs are making me want to kill myself.

MNKs in i148 Halone DEX gear. NINs that don't use Ninjutsu. BRDs in STR that do nothing but auto-attack.

My only solace is that me leaving ensures these bloody fools have to waste the same amount of time re-queuing to get back into the instance while I go off and do FATEs.

Stone Vigil hard, me as SMN, friend tanking, and another newbie DD. And WHM healer. I notice WHM not doing any DPS at all and instead, you guessed it, standing still doing absolutely nothing between heals. I say in party chat "Hey WHM, when the tank isn't in any danger, don't be afraid to do some DPS! And Holy Stuns all enemies for a bit so the tank won't take any damage during that." WHM answers something about how they lost their mana regen ability in SB. They were not having any MP issues at all, but in any case I told them about Lucid Dreaming and that it should be slotted as high priority anyway. Then the WHM suddenly leaves, without saying a word, in the middle of a big pull. :confused: Our tank ended up dying, but I swiftcast raised and kited the monsters so that no one else died. Got another healer instantly (an AST who also did DPS...) and completed the run without any issues. :D

The best part: the WHM was a mentor. Didn't even know their own abilities.

I have stun as one of my abilities. Your tank was an idiot. I'm still not convinced on the silence move we got. Probably a situational ability.

From using PvP DF this weekend for 8v8 Feast. Rather than detail the same things that happened repeatedly, just this:

1. Healers have limited access to AoE heals now.
2. If you run too far from a healer you are out of range (and they likely won't follow the one YOLO running solo into 5 enemy players unless it is a tank with ranged DPS support).
3. If you are not in line of sight (other side of fence, etc) healers cannot target you.
4. Chat was disabled a while ago for the Feast, so it's pre-made chat buttons or nothing.

Someone in Novice Network yesterday was talking about having run into a Bard that macro'd Katy Perry song lines to their song rotations.

He got booted out after the 5 minute duty start kick restriction got lifted.

just ran a shisui of the violet tides which had me do a double take, one person was in glamor that was a pig suit lol, first thing i thought was have i been drinking today? lol

i did one of the dumbest healer things known to man last night.
I was doing hunts, and I sat there at 50-60% mp wondering why my lucid was grayed out. I look it was unchecked..... i accidentally took it off my role list.
there was so many dead bodies, i wanted to dig my own grave irl.

Kudos to both DF groups I tried to do Shinryu with tonight. Everyone was nice and tried hard, through wipe after wipe after wipe (x many). Sadly the first group disbanded because time was almost up, second because of some people having broken gear. At least 12-13 attempts between both. Registered for a third....

(Everything in both groups was fine until about 4-5 minutes into the second platform.)

I'm leveling my Whm at the moment through dungeons. Repeating them until i got all the dungeon gear and if I leveled up enough to proceed to the next higher one and beginning from new. Since yesterday I'm hanging around at Doma Castle. After 7 runs (the 6 ones before went really smooth with only one wipe with a big pull between the cannons) I got shuffeld with a special paladin:

First pull (he pulls the first two mobs, the tree Garleans and the little spiders) and he dies. He say he'll take it slower. Me thinking shit can happens.

Second pull (the three Garleans) buffed im up with regen, then casting Holy, Aero 3, Holy, Lucid Dreaming (because I rip aggro of him), Tetra, Benediction, Vita 2, then he dies.

Me thinking: This can't be! Looked at his gear and all his gear were blue, hovering and GS shows 267 combined or so (Lvl65 dungeon Bardum Run dropps 276 Gear and Doma Castle 282).

Then I had to quit after 5 minutes because no, I don't want to do that.

I played the Paladin through Stormblood and in Bardums Run I felt the enemies hitting hard (sorry healer :( ) so I repeated the dungeon to gear myself up and it went from time to time smoother. I felt bad when undergeared for the rest of my team!

So please: Gear up and don't be a burden to the others!

I think he was the problem. His overall gearscore is under 270. He's wearing 260 armor, legs shoes, wears 265 zurvan blade and shield. Only his belt and accessories are 270.

Castle Doma doesn't have a requirement besides the level / msq one, and considering he was a PLD with 34k life and Ilvl ~265 it should be enough to be able to tank at least one group at a time. Theoretically speaking.

No it's not enough! and it should have requirements! Please do me a favor and level up your healer and then ask a FC mate tank to equip a mix of Lvl61 and 63 gear an play Doma Castle!

I feel like it technically COULD be enough. It certainly isnt good or acceptable but I feel like taking it one pull at a time with a competent party and proper cooldown usage it could work out.

Again very inconsiderate of the tank and if they're the type to do that they probably don't manage their cooldowns very well but still.

Lvl65 dungeon Bardum Run dropps 276 Gear
He was equipped with an overall ~267 Gear. If melded, with even better stats.
So, he was at max 9 ILVL behind the maximum he could have. That's not much.

When i ran Doma Castle, i had a mix of 262 HQ gear and 265 dungeon gear equipped. The run was absolutely smooth, with the healer even dps-ing.
I honestly don't see why he shouldnt be able to finish the dungeon in 267 gear.
Especially, since you *could* have stopped dps-ing and full time heal instead... but refused. *points at your screenshot above*

The problem is that the gear he's wearing has far less armor stats, than he could have and that would make him less resistant against the enemy damage. The Anima lux is outclassed by the dungeon weapon you getting in Doma Castle. He's wearing a 265 gs weapon wich you can get in Shisiu

My problem is: why wouldn't he do some Bardum runs (4 or 5 should be enough) to replace his older gear or/and get a far better weapon instead of going undergeared in a dungeon and mocking Healers.

And no, I don't go full heal because the tank has not appropriate gear! If the dungeon would be so hard to go "full heal", then I would do it.

Well, i wouldn't call it "mocking healers". He simply said you should maybe stop dps and heal more to avoid deaths.

Yes, he maybe wasnt beeing the nicest of tanks... but you, as the healer, refusing to do your job simply because you think the tank doesnt deserve your heals? You are not any better than him in this specific case.
Adapting to your group and doing your utmost best to finish the dungeon should be everyones priority. You negletted that, for what reason...? Because you didnt thin the tank was "worthy" beeing healed full time?

Adapting the group? If everyone give his fullest, I'll adapt even if it mean "go full heal". To be geared appropriate for the content you're joining is also giving the best AND showing respect to other players.

This is why I leaved the run after 5 minutes and get the 30 minutes lockout. Because I don't want to hinder the others with my playstyle. Maybe they found a healer whos able to hold him up AND have fun too! But not me ;)

Forgive me for my sarcasm, but i am sorry someone looked wrong at your icecream, making it taste so sour you had to throw it away.

Honestly, the way you behave is unreasonable and doesn't fit someone who claims he feels bad when he is undergeared. If the tank is lacking a bit of resistance, the healer will have to heal a bit more. THAT is adapting. You are just riding your high horse and ignore your own faults in this case.
