Who are you? Who died and made you king? Just because you and others fanatic cried your eyes out and flooded the forum with threads like this doesn't mean this "fix" was intended for you.

*sigh* people need to realize that leveling doesn't count as content, if we the community continue to whine about game mechanics and force the developers to go back and adjust them. When will they have time to actually come up with content? Right now the game is fine, leveling should be somewhat easy so you can get into the actual game content. Do we really want to go back to days of FFXI with this game busted party search system? I just can't do it anymore, I don't have the time to grind crabs for 2-3 hours and get 1 level.
play the game, massochist
Leveling in FFXIV at this moment may not be "content," but that doesn't mean leveling is never content. What they need to do, instead of just letting everyone basically bypass leveling, is make it so you level WHILE DOING content. You know, like the vast majority of RPGs.
That would make sense if they did that from the start but they didn't, this game is never going to be quest leveling type of system. I mean I would love for an update to say "we added 1000 quest for you to level up with". Partying is the direction this game seems to be going and I rather have it be easy then really shitty like the 2003-2004 days of FFXI. With the current party search system its going to be borderline impossible but hey lets make them take time fixing exp formula's instead of creating content.
Aren't you busy complaining about something else?
I know, what about: not enough punishment when player dies? To hell with durability they should be punished with sever EXP loss. OR they are ported back to hometown and forced to walk back to camp, you know, to enjoy their time in the game and savor every second they spend in the game.
After you are done with that, bitch about the extra 100 item slots, being able to port, changing jobs on the fly.....etc
First, I wouldn't be too sure about anything fundamental with this game right now. It's in a huge state of flux. And we've already seen the addition of quests, plus the leve system is a rudimentary quest system.
Second, even if it's not a quest leveling system, that doesn't mean it has to be a repetitive grind. There are a ton of different ways to create content besides quests. Raids at more frequent level intervals, different kinds of enemies that require different tactics beyond just "beat in face, repeat," more story missions, PvP(though I would personally prefer not), enemy invasions similar to the one's that already exist, but more prominent, etc etc etc.
Creating a more versatile and interesting game is what they need to do, not take the leveling out of their RPG.
When they first added quest they added a grand total of 16 I believe and they all had crap rewards, nothing close to quest leveling. And guildleve's o man are they terrible SP, lifeless, Favor doesn't regenerate fast enough, and we haven't had new one introduced in a year I believe. The system was decent on paper but SE don't have the resources to make it good IMO. Dunno man I have a feeling after this game first failure of a year its going to try to follow FFXI footsteps to recover.
I do agree with your second point it does need more interesting versatile ways to level up but with the unknown size of the team (assuming its small) and the rate in which they put out patches, I just don't see these ways coming anytime special coming soon. At the end of the day the game needs content quickly but if we harp on meaningless stuff like people powerleveling they will never get around to creating it.
One more then not directed towards you but the tread. Has anyone noticed that weapons/armor below about 40 ARE NOT being made? I have a 14 MRD that i'm trying to level with no powerlevel but I can't get weapons or armor. This seems like one of the major reason people are just powerleveling there way through because all the gear being made by crafters is 40-50 range for materia converting. One of the major flaws with the materia system IMO. Nerf PL isn't going to fix this issue its just going to make it crappier for everyone who's leveling.
basically, I interpret this as Yoshi-P sees the sort of power-leveling where a higher level character assists a lower level character (for example by healing them) as OK, but "Sit and do nothing while high levels kill stuff for you' as not OK, and that the fixes will be applied with this in mind.
Sounds fine to me.
I would not assume any development team for a company as huge as SE is small, especially one for a game in their flagship franchise. I'd imagine it's actually quite large. The reason patches have been coming so slowly is because they're redesigning the game nearly from the ground up, and they're having to work on a ton of crap at once. But the patches they're releasing are extremely large in scope.
And the reason people, at least me, harped on powerleveling, is because if it stayed like it is now it would be a deathblow to the game. At least slower leveling slows down people's advancement a little. If there's a solid way to hit 50 in a couple days, and very little endgame content, the population would plummet rapidly because people would hit 50, blow through the limited content, and then have nothing to do.
This is true, but the way they fix it is by introducing more lower level content, and just generally bringing in new players. If you put in a level 35 raid that has lucrative rewards, with the way gear is now, all of a sudden you're going to see 30ish gear on the market because there will be demand.Quote:

This is more due to the fact this game is mostly top heavy now. Most people who are serious about playing have a LS they can ask for a crafter to craft them gear. There aren't as many new players coming in so there is really small incentive for making low level weapons and armor, especially if they have been playing a while (large % of the player base at this point in time) and have a ton of money.
Now, once more new players come in, you will see a steady increase in the amount of low level weapons and armor. The new players will (hopefully) make it, trying to make some money, as it is harder now to make a ton of gil than it was before.
Most people don't have issues with power leveling itself, but with the speed of progression and how fast it is compared to the amount of effort.
Thank God for you people who stand up for whats best for the game and not what's just best for you at the moment..
This has to change now.. I started this game right about when it came out and I just recently got all dom and dow to 50. Watching people reach R50 in two days is making me sick.
I'd support an XP rollback even. A rollback proportional to the amount of XP that would of been gained under normal circumstances for every Dom and Dow who has earned XP since the patches implementation.
If every other issue with this new system isn't bad enough.
Now we're ending up with a bunch of R50's who have no idea at all how to play their jobs.
On a side note: The Xp gains the OP stated are "Extremely" reserved. I have seen 1200 XP on chains 7 and 8.
Since he isn't changing his mind about power leveling, just let people power level up to level 25. That's halfway right now, and most people are still around that level.
I am surprised myself when you still can get exp while the higher level one who grab the hate first. But it doesnt make any difference for me, coz Im busy chop chop chop in Black shroud...
btw about no gear under R40 being made, well, I make several gears under R10, and it all sold out. I dont have time to do it again coz Im busy chop chop chop.....
My guess in how it will change is that the system will require you to hit the mob in order to gain EXP. This way you cant really AFK/follow.
But PLing is here to stay.
About the low level items not being made, its a problem...but also there are npcs in each guild that sell level 1-30 something equipment, so that sorta helps.
Would be very nice if some enemies would actually drop low level items for people...or at least get worthwhile equipment rewards from leves or faction leves.
But I don't heal minor hp loses I would lose out on some mobs due too I didn't have enmity...:(
And using any skill creates enmity as I've tried I was getting a new character PL'd(<<LV15 PUG, dont hate) I used a buff skill (evasion one) on myself only and the monster switch its target to me, so it would still be easily worked around.
The old exp system should be implemented, I liked how it was LUCK based.
"Insert Monster Name" has given 37 EXP.
"Same as above monster" has given 350 EXP.
So random so great~
Im not keen on random one as it was very unlogical and i hate how many games revert to the classic fake computer "Dice Roll" in order to product a result.
You cant really not find an work-around exploit with something, with any system. Even old one we leve boosted, in random we just aoe healed, and now in this we just have 1 guy do the work. You cant ever-stop it without making it very central. "1 claim 1 mob, set EXP, massive penalties, require enmity, etc"
look the people that is complaining about this stuff are selfish, and most likely they arent even playing the game.
They might be afraid that this game is starting to take a really good shape, you know what i did while you were complaining i leveled up several classes that i wanted to and enjoyed them a lot, they brought back grind parties thanks to that.
So go bitch another game, i heard Guild Wars 2 is opening bussiness....
Actually it shows they were sorta justified since Yoshi and Foxclon have said that this form of power leveling isnt what they intended, much like all the complaints about the game got them to change up the dev team. Granted there are way too many threads about the same issue, but people were complaining about it on other forums beside the english section.
Yep, thanks to the whiny fourm trolls, most I bet don't even play the game.

^insert silly sob willing to pay rmt.
When you see "pst for price"(and I have) thats rmt ruining your game. I understand its not working as intended, but please close the door on rmt. Dont hold it open for them.
I'm sure(hope) you all have posted to that effect but I couldnt help myself.
You mean you watched someone level up for you. I can't even summon the effort to play the world's smallest violin for your loss, it's just asinine.
People were disgusted because this broken PL system took level grinding, one of the cornerstones of RPGs, particularly MMO's, and made it utterly trivial.
You may be content with a game that damn near literally spoon feeds you levels for doing absolutely nothing aside from joining a party, but most of us, apparently the dev's included, are not. The real enjoyment comes from the challenge.
The exp is pretty horrid unless you have someone helping you out. Making it so higher level friends can't help you isn't the way to fix the game.
Had someone at level cap helping us do leves went by pretty fast we got a lot of exp. got about 30k exp in 30 min. He had to go so my friend and I did 1 leve without him and it took about 20 mins for 2k exp. So yea exp sucks with a small group and lower level people do not want really slow grindy exp.
Have you even played FFXI in abyssea where you can pay someone gil go afk for like 6 hours and come back and be level capped.
Having a high level person help you out is no different then FFXI exping you in abyssea. Only its still slower in FFXIV.
I never said that i was AFK while leveling, i leveled my lancer from 40-50 at the amalja stronghold i a few days, you cant even go afk there because of the number of mobs that spawns there, especially at the second room, and yes about the power leveling of some people its absurd they dont even need to move to get exp, theres always a side for all the stuff but its not my fault that theres people like that in the game, but what i wouldnt want is that because of some trolls we get nerf exp, now i see the good thing of doing exp parties because the rewards you get by doing those, didnt you even notice that you dont have to do everything on your own, is it that bad?.
But as i said before the people that is always whining is because they suck or dont even play the game, example: marauder guy that equips shitty gear claims that the archers are way too powerful, but he doesnt even know that his crap gear is taking toll on his damage, i always check different strategies to be better damage dealer i even think lancer is now the best damage dealer in game.
So in a few words play the game, leave the forums alone make constructive contributions not spoiled childish stuff like this, and yes they dont play the game because they keep track on every reply the thread has every minute. i actually didnt even looked at the forums since the patch, so dont feed this trolls.
Ok i said the last one was my last, but you see now im not playing the game im being like them, NOOOOOOOO!!!! i beter go back playing...
Lol, well just to reply this, so you mean you want to be level 50 from day 1, wtf is wrong with you? yes its old but its part of the same process to keep people doing stuff in game, and no it doesnt feel old to me at the moment, they did something good for you and you even protests, they made the leveling process quicker so you could become an ubber powerful player and leave the old stuff like grinding behind really fast so you couldnt even remember how you got to 50 in first place, who gets you people, well im off or ill become like all of you.
They should make a system that you most do a % of the work to get the EXP this would stop powerlevel. If he want people to take 2-3month to level and still add powerlevel that not going to work out.
I got 1-40 on conj by doing party and that did not take 2month more like 6days.
