They always have the choice of leaving. If not, tough luck, they can wait it out
I have found that a lot of people that complain about the people watching the cut scenes end up watching the cut scenes. I think they think it is the new cool thing to be the one to complain. I just threaten not to heal anyone that pulls anything before the people that are watching the cut scenes are done. Unless it is just one person and they want to pull trash while we wait.
When I was doing my last story mission someone wanted to watch all the cs. And for the life of me I couldn't understand why he wouldn't skip, everyone told him to please skip them. With a game with so many issues you think the man would have listened well we got to the last boss and he DCd if it was 90k error or his internet idk. The point is when the game will kick your ass off for no reason you better hurry and skip those damn CS when your at the end of the game. I would have /raged so hard if I would have got 90k while doing the last boss. Also the last few story missions are 180mins not 90mins wont take that long but it should be some incentive to hurry up.
No thanks cause sometimes while people are watching a CS that gives me time to get a drink, Take a leak, or look around the area while ppl are watching.
Problem is, CSs are *not* ill-timed, the fight pauses and the mob does not re-engage until a party member engages it. The game clearly shows when a party member is in CS, and, as such serves as a warning to the rest of the party to not touch the damn mob. Wait the 2 minutes, I promise your life will not be negatively impacted for a couple of minutes in a dungeon that is slated to run 120 minutes.
I'm a tank. The group goes in without me, they die. If I want to watch a cutscene, I'll watch a cutscene. They can howl and protest all they want, but they'll have to wait an hour to find another group, and I instaqueue.
I was the healer in a dungeon with a somewhat long and voiced cutscene and my group ran in the boss room while I was in the cutscene and died. They learned their lesson. I suggest you just tell your group "no", and enjoy the cutscene for as long as you want.
I refuse to let someone pressure me into missing a story cutscene.
I just beat the last 2 story dungeons while barely touching the bosses if at all. People are in a rush and I've enjoyed the heck out of the story. I won't watch them in the inn because the atmosphere isn't there and that's just no fun. Either way they left me out on like every single boss and complained every step of the way but I loved the story so there was no way I was gonna skip it. I say just watch it, have fun, and respect others who want to enjoy the story too.
At the last mission, there's cutscene in the middle of the fight, but the clock keeps ticking.
We ran out of time on the boss, and we were about to win, but because people were watching cutscenes, we couldn't finish it.
To do it again, it meant that we would have to spend another hour or two to get back to where we were and that's what some people did not want to do.
I will have to repeat the last quest, just so I can watch part of the cutscene that is not included in the inn. :(
There's a way to remove the pressure on people to skip cut-scenes. Simply do what Guild Wars did and don't mention who's still in a cut-scene. List it as something like: "2 players are viewing a cut-scene." Also, don't allow anyone to move (but still view and chat) until the cut-scene is over for everyone. This will prevent people finding out who's still in a cut-scene.
The other option is to include a DF check box with "skip cutscenes" as a queue choice, queuing you only with others who check it.
And for everyone arguing about whether it's rude or takes too much time to watch them? The simple fact is there's nothing you can do about it. You can complain all you want, but at the end of the day if someone wants to watch a cut-scene, they can. And you have to sit and wait for it to be over.
(Or at least run in with a person or two missing).
Edit: I can certainly empathize the issue with the timers still running during cut-scenes, though. They should be paused whilst anyone is viewing them. Just make sure others cannot move whilst anyone is viewing them though, or this could be taken advantage of.
I love how the tank in my party for my 2nd to last dungeon fight for the story runs in, while it CLEARLY says "Viewing Cut scene" on people's names in the party list. He goes in, dies, and then is like "WTF guys?"
Umm...the mages were watching the CS's you idiot. LOL....
Note: I wasn't one of the mages, and I did skip this CS b/c this particular guy kept rushing in without waiting previously in this same dungeon. His death, made me laugh.
