Is it just me playing BLM totally wrong in PVP, or is BLM severly lacking there as well?
As we have no Scathe or anything to use on the move, and going up against others is so annoying as when i start casting something they run outta my range and interupts the cast.
MCH and BRDs seems to be monsters in there as they just chase me down, dotting me up even when it looks like i am behind walls or even way out of their range.
Astragalos as BLM is incredibly frustrating xD
With BLMs PVE situation, and if PVP is also messed up, I just plain consider boycotting playing my BLM main until they change the class for the better. I am also really enjoying playing Destruction Warlock, so if BLM remains in the state it is, I might end up doing the same thing as I did with Cataclysm and just give up on the game for a long time.
Stormblood is a really fun expansion so far, but my main class, is starting to become an exercise of frustration at the moment to the point I notice I log in less and less to XIV, and when I play a MMO, I play it daily :/
BLM can be strong in PVP but it needs good support, and in Astralagos the support is generally focused around the mechs.
Weren't healers OP for astralagos or something?
BLM on frontlines is really lacklusting now since Frontlines are about pushing and retreating fast. Same goes for Rival Wings, they're great to kill Machina and Mammets though. BLM burst in PvP is dependant on Thunder, gotta apply it, Fire IV twice to get the Thunder III ready. To move just keep alternating from Fire/Blizzard to keep enochian and buffs rolling and deal damage.
Seeing the chasm between Sfia's BLM and SMN dps on Ultimate breaks my heart...
the opening post of this thread should be shown to the devs/yoshi..., blm has some serious issues
Do we really need yet another Black Mage thread? Post to the BLM needs more DPS one it's the same issue this is nothing I havent seen for 185 other pages on the other one.
Apparently making more threads is the only way to get SE to realize "Hey maybe we should look into that." Mch is a perfect example of that. Too bad it still took them 2-3 months to actually buff mch correctly.
Hopefully this'll at least be addressed in 4.2. I've been talking to some of the theorycrafters and they're suspecting T3 dot ticks in logs compared to the battle log/floating numbers are still a little wonky. Not enough to even come close to fixing the disparity, but it definitely doesn't help.
It's only on T3 or it's something that occurs with SMN dots too?
Good evening!
Here is some things I thought to make Black mage more convenient while giving a purpose to some unused spells, note that it's not in most cases a potency gain, no F4/B4 back to 280 potency sorry. ^^
- Either: Enochian should make Fire and Blizzard (tier 1) spells instant, making it less punishing than having to use Scathe, while still making it a DPS loss compare to F4/B4, allowing to refresh AF/UI as an emergency, if needed;
- Or, make it so that Scathe refresh the current AF/UI and remove his mp cost, as currently Scathe is double punishing, with it's low potency, no refresh and screwing the fire rotation;
- Flare could give a 10s buff allowing the next Freeze (which is currently useless) to be cast for no mana, and giving UI3, thus nullifying the reliance on Transpose in combat past level 50;
- Blizzard 2 should be brought back to it's potency pre 2.1 (100, compared to 50) and be on the target instead of ourselves, making it still less potent than Fire 2, which is 120 potency (80*1.8*(2.5/3)) but giving an alternative to Thunder during UI, when ennemies are close to death;
- Reduce the cooldown of Aetherial Manipulation from 30s to something like 20 or 15 seconds;
- Thunder 3 dot should either last 30s, or the Thundercloud proc should be lengthen, or be stackable up to 2, 3 times;
- Blizzard 4 should give a magic or fire vulnerability to the target, or umbral hearts should give a buff of some sort to the next spells to make them worth it in single target;
- Blizzard 1 should have no mana cost while being in UI.
There is probably a lot more to change, potency adjustments in general being beyond my own abilities, but those things would in my opinion help to not think that the job is playing against us. :)
1) either B4 or (T3 dots) give a magic vun on the target by 5-7% (making blm party desirable + slight dps increase)
2) double the length you can hold thunder and fire procs (making blm a bit more mobile)
3 let us stack / hold on to 2 procs each (making blm a bit more mobile + slight dps increase)
4) and increase f4 and b4 back to the HW 280 potency (making blm nuke mages again, when stationary strong like blm should be)
imo those 3-4 changes shouldnt be hard to apply and have been mentioned by the blm community multiple times
....
BUT make enochian lose / death more punishing (so with all the mentioned "buffs", Blm will be strong/desirable again..., but as compensation, blm will get punished harder)
....
if 4.2 does not bring anything like the mentioned buffs, I and at least 2 otber Blm mains I know are giving Blm up (Ill be going smn, .. but using obey with a ps4 pad is a pain..)
are the japanese forums also comlaining about blm?... if not, doubt the devs will even think of giving blm any changes .. (blm has become a pain to play in endraids and cant ffing get in PFs.. and smn + obey is a pain on the pad <.<..., maybe need to stop FFXIV all together)
I think we are old enough to drop this the devs listens only to the japanese forum act tbh
the colour blind issue was responded to quit fast, but the blm issue has been adressed to earlier in the forums but hasnt gotten any feedback from any side yet
agree, making f1/b1 instant under enochian could be cool and help for movement.. (just would hope we' d stop losing enochian when casting f1 under any ice astral)
Don't remember exactly how they answer to job problems in the forum, I do remember they usually announce things on Live letters which probably it's better considering they can address multiple problems in 1 go.
Remember BLM problems are not just a problem of the job they are also a result of caster beign generally less optimal than everything else
I'd like to point that the color blind issue is also a no Brainer. Thats the kind of thing you assign one person from the art team and tell him to change colors on a very specific aspect of the UI.
It has no impact on balance or anything. It doesn't involve new game components that need to be tested.
This is why this has been addressed quickly.
wonder if we ever gonna get a qol change to make transpose 10s cd instrad of 12s. with 12s it only give u a 1s window to reuse it during some fights that have lengthy transition like in o4s. but i rather wish af/ui is 15s timer instead of 13s so that using lb3 wont totally kill af/ui/enochian.
They announce every changes to the jobs before they are released as a way to not surprise ppl, so you should not expect anything from a patch if nothing about class changes have been said before
still could have hoped for something as easy/small as slight potency increase
A slight potency increase pushed SMN over BLM, as much as we believe it otherwise there are no such a thing as easy fixes in game balance, especially here that, despite what's all said and done. all the jobs are somewhat fine, which means that small fixes are all that is need to tip the scale
In a sense 4.1.8 was the best thing to happen for BLM players, since it is now super easy to gear a proper job...
I wouldn't expect anything before 4.2 honestly. As others have said, it takes time to work out and test these things. I'd rather have a well thought out change to the class, than a bandaid fix. Even if it's just a potency increase, I'd rather they balance it properly, seeing how Se has a history of overshooting these things. Being op might be fun for a while, but the inevitable nerf after isn't.
Well this bloody situation is now making me boycott playing BLM until it is FIXED. I have had it with being removed from PF groups for Shinryu EX, let alone O4S groups simply cause I choose to play a BLM.
WoWs upcoming expansion actually makes me wanna return to give it another shot, even though I swore to never play WOW again due to how the Devs behaved, and how they messed up my favorite class there back in 2011. I gave WOW up for XIV in 2011, so in 2018, it looks like I'm giving up XIV for WOW :/
4.2, either needs to give BLM the love it deserves, or I am out which is a shame as XIV in itself is a great game, just ruined by class balance. Similar to how SW Battlefront 2 is a good game, just totally ruined by the lootbox progression system.
Not to be offensive but you would drop FFXIV because of the class balance for a game notorious for it's atrocious class balance?
And frankly let me say this, If you are dropped from any content below ultimate because you are a BLM either you are doing soemthing wrong or you are better off without that group altogether
@Altera
a bit overacting... isn't it? I share Remedis opinion. Also its just one of how many jobs? 10? 15? and there are crafter as well... blaming the devs for balancing issues in cls evolving is silly... have Brds quit the game in ARR? Whms in HW? Smns in SB?... reducing all worth of this game to only one job even if its your favorite one isn't accurate imo... better days will come even for Blms : o
Well to be honest, I'm SMN and I seriously considered dropping the game in SB on the week end it was available, out of disgust for the utter nerf they did before we hit 70. I spent 2 hours re arranging my hotbars on my 60 jobs, which was nice and fresh, then tried out what I dreaded : A12S dummy with the new SMN.
Saw the lock outs, saw I was being 20% less effective on A12S dummy. Was really angry. Then Raubahn Ex and server crowd problems happen while am almost hitting the breaking point... So yeah I can totally understand that class efficiency can ruin your game experience.
When you spend so much time playing that gameplay is the focus of 90% of the time you spend and discovery+story is only 10%, gameplay design becomes your primary concern.
What we can't do is sugarcoat and try to find excuses for the devs, they are well paid for their job and what they have done to BLM is completely unacceptable, the job has 0 redeeming qualities and is bad for both progression and speed kills (worst dps on prog 2nd worst on speedkills) and since they have all the data to see this and decide to do nothing for so long they are completely at fault.
Is it enough to quit the game? Not for me at least, but I don't pay for Altera's sub so he/she have all the right in the world as a customer to quit/boycott when an obvious issue like this one is ignored for so long.
well I can feel ya since I started as smn in aar and main it until now - still not understandable that one drop the game cause of one cls if there are more than 10 others which are at least "okay" and playable, mmos are always evolving and devs always struggle in balancing but they always hear out the community as well - and if we are honest the FF-Crew even more than other companies - so all this "change that! or I quit" screams are a bit over the top... sure the devs have to know if the com is unsatisfied but if a 1-2 month balancing phase is to much for you to wait... maybe there are other games which please you more : /
