I didn't ask for that, and I hope they don't do it. Its the fact everyone thinks SE don't have the galls to try something new without resorting to easy options (Elezen Texture Remodeling) and Yoshi lied through his teeth saying Viera would be too similar to Miqotes when Au Ra looks friggen similar to female Hyurs and Elezens. It's still a better option than just making yet another race that already looks similar to something else in the game and then calling it 'new' when it really isn't. Replace the ears with Elezen ears, make them a third clan, bam. You have 90% of what you want and no one can cry foul about it looking like something else, as it's supposed to look like an Elezen (though not like the two already in the game. It'd be a Midlander and Highlander type of dealio).

Viera are the elves if Ivalice.

Same for Male Aura and the Female Aura being similar to races but I don't see any clan options. Where are you getting at? Remove bunny ears and replace them with elf ears? These models look alot better in my opinion. Claws on feet and hands, furry bunny ears, heightened ankles, all of it. Thats what I'm asking for. If they can't deliver most of it, then they should at least try. That clan thing doesn't even make sense. Suddenly bunny ears are inherited by elves? I'm no lore monger but what? If you want another elf ask else where. We're asking for Vieras.

Viera might be tall, but they look nothing like Elezen and to those that claim that they will run silly, I have to disagree. Male Au Ra is tall and runs similiar to the Male Mi'qote, so if they do add Viera, if the developers want to give them Elezen run, they will, but personaly, I reckon they will give them running/walking animation that fits their race.

.... There is legit concept art of Lalafell built Viera.

Amusingly, I mentioned the possibility of a new 4.0 race to a couple people in my FC, and they both want a cute race. I showed them said Viera concepts, and one said she'd Fantasia so fast to the cute rabbits.


Different strokes, as it were, but it does make wonder in making a stocky race would make the mods to gear for Lalafell more cost effective if they have 2 races with similar builds verses one (albeit, very popular) outlier compared to the other 5.

No, that was some of SE's concept art they showed during F.A.T.E in Tokyo.
Yoshi-P didn't want to show them because he knew people would want them but showed them anyway....

? But there's nothing special about Viera feet. They're just normal human feet. In XII, Fran affected rather weird looking stiletto heels, but that was part of her gear, not her feet themselves. (And in tactics, Viera generally wore more typical flat or short-heeled shoes.)

As for their hands, I can't quite tell in the Tactics version. Some Tactics Viera seem to have claws, but others don't. In XII, their hands have a bit of a claw-like point to their fingernails, but not enough that duplicating it here would require special gear.

For that matter, most of the notion of Viera as being pretty comes from the fact that the XII Viera affected sexy looking outfits. (Their faces are rather too pinched to be pretty looking.) In XIV, they'd have the same gear as everyone else, so nothing inherently sexy about them.

Very definatly opinion based i supposed cause their faces are so exotic and gorgeous to me with their angular brows. The viera have a very pouty good look think going on that isnt in this game. All the other races other than rogyden pretty much have wide eyed deer cutsey faces. And theres really not a viable option for people that want a mature looking woman. If you dont want her to be a bowflex model. Also viera hands and feet were very much elongated at the fingers and toes in 12.like almost 2 times as long as normal. Watch a video of frans 3rd (?) mist technique the one where she throws the ice it zooms in on her hands

As a company leader i really cant fathom that concept though. " I dont wantt o show this cause the fans will want it added and i dont want to add it."

No sir your leading a fan based subscription game if a massive chunk of your fans want something you give it to them or you stop making money. Especially with childish lines like well i dont like them so screw what my fans are asking for.

This is the reason I've wanted the Viera. I want a more mature-looking, tall and elegant, graceful character. Aside from the Elezen, no one else has the "full grown mature woman" feel. Roegadyn are the giant amazon beast women, Lalafells are the obligatory token "tiny race", and the other three are the cutesy anime teen girls...

If they were to remain relatively similar to past games, the longer legs and heels is the reason I want them.

If that was the case, then I have to say they failed. Au Ra aren't all that creative of a race to begin with, and while none of the races we currently have are, Au Ra also don't have the personality/society/world building/characterization that the others do. They feel like someone's OC insert. You could probably delete all of them and replace with hyur and nobody would notice. If I ran into the N tribe and they were hyur, it would be immediately noticeable what was off. I can't honestly even think of what their naming convention is. If you were to spit me out a name for any other race, I'd be able to immediately identify it.

The Au Ra namimg conventions are weird.

Xeala use surviving ancient Mongolian names, with their last name being their tribe. Raen use 14 century era Japanese names. The Xeala were comparatively spoiled in this, as there is a small blurb for each and every tribe on the lore forums here.

.... And that's it. Their decision to base the names of real Asian names inadvertently put a damper on the lore. It doesn't help that Au Ra are so rare in the "wild" that we don't really have events that delve into their background.


But, if SE carries the names used in FFXII, then they may use Icelandic names and spellings for at least one of the clans for Viera.

I just hope that if they do add Viera they make them mature looking. I agree that's really what we're currently most lacking is mature female characters. (Female Rogadyn are the best looking when viewed individually, but when standing next to the other races making their size difference so apparent, that kind of overtakes their actual looks.)

Not all the concept artists seem to think mature looks are a given in Viera, though, judging by this:

With the AuRa, we kind of knew we would always get a new race since the end of legacy versus now, where there is no real promise of a new race.

I think it would be really cool to see the two clans have different types, while still offering a beastman-esque humanoid character. One of the clans could be in between Lalafell and Miqote (short/cute - known for avoiding fights and living away from other clans) and the other clan could be between the Hyur and Elezen (Taller/more features that reflect fighting like bigger claws, longer arms - could known to be more eager to engage in battles, etc).

They all look the same to be honest so who really cares. I expected so much more from Au'ra but they just showed me that the only races we are ever going to get is some type of gimmicked human because they can't be bothered to design gear set models for anything different.

So... I got Stone and Steel, and it actually includes all the released concepts for Viera and Au Ra. For one, it really doesn't seem like it took long for the crew to get attached to smaller ladies.

Aww we tried...no viera, oh well it was a good try. They say they'll reveal more at Tokyo/Europe but I believe there's 0% chance they'll get revealed later on. They would've used the "???" if they were going to add a new one.

But yeah I really don't want to see them in 5.0. By then it's too late and wouldn't coincide with the 10 year anniversary.
Disappointed that they avoided adding the one thing people wanted the most (I can't prove it, but by logic we all know it creates the most excitement).

Red Mage is confirmed, with that Scarlet Witch shirt on Yoshida, we only have to wonder which class will be revealed next and what role Red Mage will be.

You've got 6 races to choose from, though... 7 if you separate Midlanders and Highlanders.

No new race just means the potential of more customisation options for the current 6 races. Maybe male Highlanders will have an option for eyebrows? or maybe a third clan for every race (except for Hyurs) that looks completely different from the other clans? Tall Au Ra ladies and short Au Ra males, for example (I still detest the race, but I know some people wished the female Au Ra weren't so waifish).

While i understand the customization is great and i want more too the majority of the time the camera is zoomed all the way out for battle so its body shapes that are different. Thats why i want as many races as possible because zoomed far out thats how you get diversity. Otherwise everyone kinda all looks the same.
