Your love and your party better be strong as the cathedral may be overrun by level 90+ mobs. After clearing the area, you'll want to marry whoever is next you , gay or not lol.

The problem I have with discussing laws and whatnot in this thread is that they have absolutely no bearing on in-game marriages. A marriage in FFXIV I'd both virtual and not a legal marriage in any sense. It's not legally valid in any state or country. It is a virtual ceremony that pertains only to the game world and has no official bearing in the real world.
And how many of those Eroge are localized and sold in major American retailers? I'll be surprised if you can list even 2 shops that aren't mom&pop styled. There's a difference between making certain types of games in their country and localizing and selling it to another country. It's not completely taboo to address it, but XIV is being supported in America, which is still flipflop on the whole subject and seem to go after video games the most.
Likewise the problems with laws is, Commander Shepard banging Liara wasn't real either yet it pissed people off enough to try to pass stricter laws on game development.
I'm fine with in-game marriage, as long as there are no tactical advantages given to the couples. such as teleports, shared inventory, ect. These would lead to exploitation of the system.
in my opinion this service should not be in game since its a heated topic on a broad range of levels that includes laws in different countries.
All I know is that we're getting a Cathedral and a /pray emote which makes sense.
