Things to think about before you call someone "Bad"

Yes / no. I expect them to know their class, aye. I do not expect them to know all mechanics if the content is still relatively fresh or of they are new.

Savage/ex excluded for obvious reasons, if you want to go in blind, do so with a static of like minded people but don't waste 7 other peoples time while they watch you learn the ropes.

Most people should be aware of a few things by lvl 70, and this includes the following:

1. Stacking markers
2. Various AoE types to dodge and take away from other players
3. Killing adds
4. At least a dozen different enemy abilities like meteors and certain knockbacks
5. Character placement for optimal rotations, like not standing in front of a boss which requires a tank unless they're unleashing an attack behind them.

If people aren't familiar with ANY of these...they have no business is higher end content, and should make sure they get themselves acquainted before they try. That doesn't make them bad, per say, that just makes them oblivious. And yes, I still see people running away with stacking markers, avoiding meteors and eating cleaves.

Basic content mechanics are not duty specific.
It's such things like staying out of AoE markers because they do unnecessary damage to you and can have other sideeffects, stack for stack markers, don't spread the party unnecessary/without reason, using AoEs on 4-5+ mobs, depending on job.
I'm not talking about duty specific mechanics, strategies and tactics, i'm talking about the basics for every duty.

Dungeons, normal 8mans and 24mans are not "higher end content".
They are the content in which people are supposed to learn.

Not everyone raided in a past expansion, you would be surprised to how little mechanics you are exposed to while leveling, esp if you get thrown into a run with groups that steamroll the older content.

But the mechanics I specifically mentioned are not exclusive to 4, 8 or 24 man content. These are basics that, yes, are brought up even during the leveling process.

Don't expect an honest answer, though.

I understand the problems of hard content and underperforming groups. I've been there on multiple occasions. On both sides. And I do value and accept a good advice. If it's presented as an advice and not an insult. A lot of people in this thread have a valid point when they try to help someone who is not performing to their expectations. Now, every single one of us will evaluate others based on our personal set of values, which means being objective is practically impossible. But, since we "all" try to be as objective as possible, let's say that's not a problem. The problem lies in the fact that not many people realise it's not the words you use as much as the way you use them. And this problem is even bigger in a situation where a person only has one way of expressing themselves. By typing their thoughts. This leaves the other person with the "problem" of translating the meaning. Is it an advice, insult, sarcasm or just words of a stoner or drunk?

So, while some players should be more accepting of an advice, some others should be more careful of how they word their advice.

This thread made me realize FF community may not be as toxic as I initially thought. Thank you OP. :)

I'm expressing a different opinion than yours, I'm not upset.
You guys can keep going around offering as much "friendly" advice as you want, but nobody is going to acknowledge your cause because it doesn't exist. Companies are not concerned over players being too sensitive because they can't take friendly advice. They do however, have online tribunals, perform chat disables and launch permabans over an endless sea of players being the opposite of tactful when approaching other players.

Except for maybe the Feast chat, the playerbase is nowhere near as toxic as you paint it, that it'd require such measures.

Maybe, but you're on your way there.
Four years ago, most people would've sympathised with the TC. Calling someone idiot is never justified. However, this thread proves (at least in this forum), that nowadays we have a significant amount of people going around offering "friendly" advice. That doesn't sound very healthy. Might just be me though.
