You finally deign to give Hrothgar new hairstyles and you give them Karen hair and sleek emo hair? Why not something more 'beastly' like you keep referring to them as, such as the mohawks or the Wind Caller hairstyle? Or a huge flowing lion mane?

That's what I personally don't like about the hairstyles, even if they had unamputated ears, they're all so....stylized, for lack of a better word [save for Snow]. Windcaller, rainmaker, styled for hire, whatever Jandelaine's hair is called, to name a few, are "wild" hairstyles that can pass off as fur and would fit Hrothgars really well.

That list is organized by file #. If the hairs appear out of order, its due to SE "releasing" them out of file order

Well, they appear in the character creator by release order, so even if that list does have a logical order it still isn't showing them in the standard order that people will see them listed in the game.

Why do some of you have an obsession with saying hrothgar must be bestial? I want normal modern hairstyles as well! I'm happy with some of these new hairstyles, I think my hroth is looking really cute when I use it with the tamamo ears. I think my hroth is more man than beast, he's not some wild untamed animal. I think yes, we should get more options that fit, and more masculine ones, but I'd like the other hairstyles to keep coming. If you use tamamo / werewolf ears or horns those hairstyles work quite well!

So I just checked out the new hairstyles for male viera and most of them give him a massive forehead. It looks horrible.

"Retain their unique features" eh... yeah, that just sounds like a sketchy way of saying that it's too much work. Imagine having a choice, I can think of a lot of hats that vieras, and hrothgar, could look absolutely adorabe on. Miqo'te ears are some of the cutest stuff in the game, yet guess what, every hat has been given a special shape to accomodate them, while a lot of them still rock emperors or a non covering hat. Square, stop being lazy, you're not fooling anyone, give these lovable tall ones the headwars they deserve.

I wouldn't call prefering hairstyles that resemble manes of lions "obsessive", considering we are talking about a species with the head of a lion, tiger stripes, fur (!) pattern and generic big cat ears with options for lynx fluff at the end. Hrothgars don't have to look like Queen Behemoth's little brother, but their general features are pretty much non-human in every manner, at least when it comes to the head (and tail). And from what I read, that their body is basically a copy of the roegadyn one (a bit bent in the back) is likely more a question of convenience when it comes to leg and foot gear and less of a design choice.

Also please have a look at the thread with hairstyle suggestions in this same subforum. What most people demand isn't straight up right out of the jungle, just hair that does resemble the animalistic (lion/tiger/leopard/..) origin. Fluffy or curly hair with big braids etc. isn't actually "bestial" after all anyway.

Same can be said about you, then! Why the insistence on "normal" hairstyles?

We never said you weren't allowed to feel happy about these hairstyles. We just said that the way they were implemented was shoddy and dismissive, and the hairstyles themselves were kind of a low-effort pick that could have taken them two minutes. Look no further than 2Peanut's hair.

And perhaps not all of us want to resort to stupid fixes like the tamamo headband and werewolf ears. Some of us have other preferences for what should be on that already limiting headgear slot. For example, I don't want to part with my eyepatch. It's a part of my character's lore. Having to use Tamamo Headbands will get in the way of it.

Please think before you say things... We're not just randomly throwing bullshit and see what sticks on the wall, you know? We're here to make the race as complete as possible so that all of us can wear with no limitations or dumb Van Gogh cut-outs. And yes: that includes YOU.

Maybe you're happy with low effort work, but it doesn't mean others have to be.

These hairstyles would have come either way, it's just that for the most part they don't fit and need adjustments to fit. Again, look at 2Peanut. Asking for more race-appropriate hairstyles is not at all an obssession nor something any more over the top than asking for Jandelaine to work with our manes in general.

I keep seeing quotes how Yoshida said initially that hrothgar (+viera) would originally get no hairstyles, and I know that can't be the case. So....? :confused:

I just want one with larger braids (like, really large. Baseball bat thick), a lion-like mane that isn't swept back and some short hair ones. As for the Karen ones, well. I wouldn't use them but if they kept the ears I wouldn't have even complained initially. I'm not going to be mad about options.

That said, jellybean head is clearly a quality problem and I have no idea how that got past testing - if it ever were tested first.

for people who want to look like a typical beef cake furry with metro hairstyles and for those who want to be a thunder cat with wild hairs.

I don't believe they've ever said anything as a reason. They just don't want people modifying their game. And it's a simpler rule to keep than picking over what isn't and isn't appropriate to mod.

Most I remember them talking about was how it produces images of the game that aren't true. Not only is this considered false advertisement in a sense (where people go "Oh wow, that person looks really cool", and turns out the game doesn't really have that. It's why the general rule is that if you're going to mod you don't take screenshots with Square's disclaimer), it could lead to the game be flagged in some countries over some NSFW art. Remember that pornography is very much illegal in some countries, and not everyone has the decency to check. Or care to know what mods are and aren't. That, and it's modification of the game files, so it's a general ToS violation.

Apart from that, it just seen as a "don't show, don't tell". Not necessarily a gray area, but they won't try to put third party software to monitor your computer files.

everyone here is dodging this weirdly.
they got mad about porn under the ffxiv hashtags on twitter. they even did a banwave once based off the igns people left on twitter which amuses me endlessly because it means someone had to scroll through hundreds if not thousands of pornographic tweets with a whole slew of it having kinks i'm certain they didn't know existed until that point.

except all it did was make people avoid putting their ign in their profile and caused people to talk about nsfw mods which ended up having the opposite effect. free advertising of mods, basically.

I put this in another thread, but I will add it here. I am sad for the Viera players on this. Every other race can equip the new glam set from the PVP event, hat and all, but not Viera. This is sad cause it makes it look incomplete without the helmet.

I'm going to take advantage of the general outcry on the forum, and the possibility that SE is reading the feedbacks right now, to remind Yoshi P that they didn't make the PvP helm usable for vieras, but apparently the hrothgars received this helm.

I am quite livid about this. All they have to do is either hide the ears or have them stick out the top. This helmet is almost the same shape and style as the Ktiseos Mask of Maiming from Ktisis Hyperboreia, and that piece works on Viera. This needs to be fixed.

SE assumed wrong. One person even created a topic just to complain about this helmet. I particularly prefer to keep all posts related to this type of complaint here, since that's how we got the male viera.

It's sad... This set only seems complete with the helmet, and it's so closed that it would be enough to copy Hyur's model, and put the ears on top. The saddest thing is that I have no doubt that the community will be able to do this quickly.

Viera head geometry isn't even that different from non limited races.

Sorry, but after so long waiting for something, I really don't believe they will do something like that anymore. They never promised helmets for both races, true, but promised exclusive hair to make up for it. 3 years and nothing.
At this point, I just want to wear my redmage or bard hat; having my Noctis hair again; buy something at mogstation, without having to be afraid that it won't work for my race; make an event and not frustrate me because the reward is a hair or a hat that doesn't fit me...
Since they changed the idea of giving unique hair, and started making old hair, they might as well start to at least remove the restrictions on the new helmets.

No, they wouldn't do it. They don't even do ear holes for their most popular race miqo'te, and barely ever put even a bowtie to cover up tail clipping. They won't do custom headpieces for a limited race they don't seem to actually care much about. It'd be nice, and I've even said they should do it, but I don't kid myself into thinking that they would ever do it.

That would be a dream. I did have a thought about a week ago; what if SE brought in a Hrothgar and Viera NPC to hang out in major cities as a 'hat maker' who are able sell headgear to Viera and Hrothgar? I'm not talking about an extensive variety, but at first just the basics such as RDM hat, BLM hat and then they can continue from there... If our heads are as 'unique' as they keep saying, and if they are persistent on flaking out on our race-exclusive hairs, I don't see why we can't have a fair compromise. Just so we can at least look the part of the classic FF classes. I'd still like my ears poking through though - the level 89 reaper hood made it look so perfect.

I know the whole scenario of us getting more headgear is unlikely, but I still like to imagine. :)
