You would not believe how happy I am that I do not exist on your data center and will thus never have to deal with you outside of this forum. Also the fact that I hate watching other healers on my own DC, if they were as bad as you claim every healer on yours is I'd never play DPS.

This is a really neat idea and I would support it, though one tweak I would make is to have it turn all the DRK's existing HP into shield so that it's easier for both tank and healer to plan around wether or not the second phase will trigger.

Absolutely do, the game needs more DRKs and fewer WARs, our ever entertaining OP is being entirely hyperbolic about how squishy DRK is. It isn't completely immortal, not that any tank should be, but it's strong enough when played at a decent level that healers need only use their maintenance options rather than going all in.

Job efficiency depends on player(s) skill. When I was leveling healing I had absolutely no trouble healing DRK or other kind of players who wouldn't press their mitigations, even if I'm not the best of healers because I simply know the kits.
The difference is that Paladin and Warrior have exceptional self-sustain, GNB will live as well. That allows them to compensate for the heal and spreads the healing responsibility accross the party.
I know, healers here will disagree with this direction and I do as well on a different perspective, but that's not the point.

DRK on the other hand lacks capabilities to self heal beyond Abyssal Drain, Shadowed Vigil and Living Dead. The result is that if you end up with a healer that can't handle the pack, DRK can't even compensate.
Oblation by itself is strong but buried under all other mitigations in practice, Dark mind requires magic damage, TBN isn't as strong as it used to be, Abyssal Drain doesn't cut it so you're left with Rempart, Shadowed Vigil and role actions.
On top of that Living Dead's requirement to die makes it unreliable and conflicts with party mitigation/crowd control, which can be annoying.

TL;DR:
Good luck in your adventure, the challenge isn't DRK utility, it's to not fall alseep during the filler rotation.
Your tanking capabilities will rely on your party contrary to other tanks able to tank by themselves. If your healer is a weak link, you won't be able to cover for what they lack.
End up with a bad healer as PLD/WAR/GNB, it's okay. End up with a bad healer as DRK, pain.

Thinking of macros, do you know whether we can make macros "spam-resistant"? As in, while that one is counting it's 12s, if I were to press it again I would not cause another instance of the text messages?

I don't know, I've only ever copied existing macros and don't use them on the daily.
