yeah like, if anyone says "it's not hard" or "it's not difficult" or "I'm not asking for too much" or any other awful dumb assumptions about something tech-related, at this point my reaction is to ignore them, because that kind of downplaying of the real effort it takes to do most things in tech is both endemic (and worse with Gamers) and also speaks to profound ignorance of the process.

Everyone's feedback matters to the devs. No one's feedback matters to me. You seem to be under the impression that you're anything more than a paying customer for a product and trying to mediate between other people's wants and expectation of the product they're paying for and the devs' work is downright bizzare. Just who do you think you are, exactly?

I don't need to do anything but sit here and wait for the product to be delivered to me and if it's to my liking I'll keep consuming it, and if not I won't. Whatever goes on in the kitchen is not my business. If the pizza is bad I'm not coming back to that place, no matter how hard they worked to make it tasty for someone else.

They are not going to delayed a highly hyped expansion launch just because of some issues with faces. They would launch then fix them after which makes more sense.

Exactly! All these people appear under each of our posts, even the most detailed ones with a large number of images and descriptions of the problem, and express their "expert" opinion regarding our complaint. Completely forgetting or ignoring the fact that no one cares about their opinion at all. We came here to leave a message for SE on their official forum. We didn't come here to discuss our characters' new looks with someone.

It is these people who turn the forum into chaos, in which for one picture there are a dozen meaningless answers and flood that simply hide information from the developers.

Insults, the standard remark "it’s the same picture", questions like "whose opinion should be a priority?" and other similar things are everywhere here.

There seems to be no moderation here at all. This is simply impossible on a Japanese forum. I have seen meaningless messages being deleted almost immediately.

I'm just glad the devs have acknowledged there is a problem at all, to be honest. These days I don't expect much out of any companies, let alone video game companies, actually responding to issues, but FFXIV has historically been better at this than many, but even then, I was expecting radio silence or a very canned response about fixes but with no details given. Will my concerns be addressed in the update? I'm cautiously optimistic, as they specifically called out the "dead eyes" and the scaling being wrong on some of the mouths, which is where a lot of my problems were. I hope they address more than just those things too, of course.

You made me think of it, and being bombarded with unwanted opinions when all you're trying to do is talk to the devs is just an awful way to send said feedback.

I guess the same could be said about positive feedback threads... This is why I'll keep saying that closed surveys would be way better than the forums when it comes to asking for feedback.

If the lighting engine was BROKEN in those zones, which was the case in the case of some models), then no amount of "have you tried XYZ" was going to fix it.

For the character models where we did notice a difference between the Thanalan lighting and the aetherial sea lighting, then the problem was with the character models.

My notes:

Hyur, Viera, Hroth, Miqo, and Roe looked markedly better in Aetherial sea than in Thanalan. Their problems were lighting issues from the Thanalan zone. They're fine.

Au Ra had problems even in Aetherial Sea lighting. Their problems are problems with the model itself, not the lighting. No amount of zone switching was going to fix it. Hoping new benchmark fixes it.

Individual racial feature bugs need to be addressed on a one by one basis; the reporting done here and elsewhere will be helpful for it.

At least we're not in Pokemon GO where they deleted women's bodies as part of their graphics updates....

I can't see were it says " Message to the Development Team. Feedback only. No Discussion"

That said. What is the full meaning of Forum?
Well.
A forum is a place, situation, or group in which people exchange ideas and discuss issues, especially important public issues.
So, don't feel discouraged. Acknowledge what you feel. You do have the right to do so. Why? Because it is a Forum.
