While I'm not accusing you in particular of this, I often find that those who espouse such views as "Well of course I have hangups with and things I don't like about <insert game here>" rarely have anything critical to say or offer potential improvements to show for it or prove the veracity of their words. Something to keep in mind.

I sometimes think Yoshi-P didn't think his words of "taking a break" through when he said them, and those listening took it as gospel or one of the commandments rather than a recommendation. What of those who'd rather not take a break? It's far from a miraculous silver bullet to solve all issues. I feel like some here are less sympathetic to those who find themselves in that position than they ought to be, and what words they do offer tend to be platitudes.

I wasn't referring to trying different things within this relic series. I was referring to this relic series being different from past relic series.

ARR/HW - grind specified content that already existed in the game for other purposes.
SB - grind only the new exploratory zone
ShB - grind your choice of the new exploratory zone or specified older content
EW - grind content of your choice

So where did they see the most player satisfaction and participation out of those methods for grinding a relic series?

Is there yet something else they can also try?

As for 1500 tomes being a lot, The Hunt says hi. Astronomy can be earned from any expansion's Rank A and S elite marks, it's not limited to Endwalker elite marks. There were some players who regularly attend hunts that were picking up 2-3 relics/upgrades a day.

Forcing players into the decision about using their tomes for crafting or upgrading crafted gear didn't seem bother to anyone. It was not a complaint that I can remember seeing here in the forums at least.

I like the lack of a long grind. Instead of spending all of my very limited free time stuck playing this to take ages to get a relic, I can instead spend my time playing games I haven't yet.

Undertale, Persona 5 Strikers, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, The Witcher, and many more. Not being chained to one game is a very good thing.

Knowing SE they'll overcompensate next expension and tie the 7.x relic to some form of battlepass like they have in Fortnite, that should be grindy enough.

Not having a relic day 1 doesnt mean you are chained to the game. But sure, pay a monthly sub just to play other games instead. Do you fanboys even read what you write? Every normal person would realize how insane you guys sound.

I pay an FFXIV sub, an Xbox Live sub, a Playstation Sub, a Nintendo Switch sub. That doesn't include any additional subs for induvial games or other services. Can't utilize all those subs if I'm playing a single game. I get your point but using a subscription as a basis doesn't really work for the point you are trying to make.

Chained to what? Making sure your glorified glamour weapon is up to date for your own made up arbitrary reasons? Relic and savage gearing are separated. If you don't raid, you won't need those few extra ilvls relic provides compared to regular tome weapon. If you do raid, you will have better weapon before next relic step releases. And you don't need either of that, savage is clearable at min ilvl, which right now is 20-30 ilvls lower than current relic. You really don't need relic, stop acting like it's something mandatory. If you don't like it, don't do it, just like I won't do (aka buy) more than 1 or 2 EW relics for my mains, since AST tomes are better spent elsewhere.

And by EW relics I mean combat relics, I'm going to get all crafter and gatherer ones, those are actually entertaining.

Honestly, in the long term its Eureka that see's the most replayability amongst the previous relic steps.
Bozja gets some, but Eureka is basically pumping 24/7 on most Datacenters and there are communities built around that specific content.
This is most likely due to Eureka having the better rewards, with glowing armor being relatively easy to obtain along the way.

Nothing else in the game really gets that level of engagement other than raiding.

People will continuously bash eureka in because its a grind, completely forgetting that the relics are optional content and nobody is forced to get them, if you don't like the content, don't do it.

It's hard to believe that person wasn't being sarcastic. It's really insane to me even though I'm casual AF.

And this is why I treat these things as a business relationship rather than an emotional one. The fact of the matter is we're getting less compared to what we used to - in terms of quality and quantity of things that are actually viable as content.

This relic is unacceptable and an utterly failed experiment. The people who are unironically in support of it or are even demanding the tome requirements be lessened further already had tome weapons they could obtain. There was no need to sacrifice the actual Relic for these people to give them something they were not interested in working towards.
