Solo heal yes. You need to have synergy between the white mage and the scholar for them to really shine due to the fact you can't sit there and spam adoloquiem constantly or you will run out of mp. For the most part though, physick spam has been enough to get me by on my scholar fairly easily up to turn 5. That is when needing a lot of burst healing and the damage mitigation of both a scholar and a whitemages stoneskin as well as burst heals start to come into play if you don't want to risk your tank getting completely obliterated before you even have a chance to get a full cast off.Quote:

WHM has stoneskin which will give whoever has the buff a shield that mitigates 18% of the players HP. Great on Warriors. In fact, I use this on all of my tanks because it doesn't generate as much hate.
But I did heal a Warrior in Ifirt HM, and it was tough keeping his health up. I have noticed that Warriors get hit hard at endgame. I'm hoping I was just playing with a few bad tanks. -

I can't see them buffing War, otherwise it would make PLD usless. If you had a War with the same staying power as a Pld, but output more damage... then why would you ever take a Pld over War? As it sits now, they are designed to be different. Pld to tank main hard hitting bosses, and War to offtank/backup the Pld as well as crowd control adds. Why does a War HAVE to be buffed? Just accept his roll and move on.
However, if using the DF gives you 2 War's, ie. the game expects the War to main tank in areas where it's not able to, then that's a problem. -

I don't see how anyone can claim it's bad warrior play. Maybe if they're losing threat, but there isn't really that much a WAR can do to make themselves more survivable in Coil.
The way for a WAR to be viable is by having other party members alter their play and do things to help them stay alive. I.E. feed the snake more slimes to keep stacks at 0-2, Drop sacred Soil on the WAR only, Use Eye for an Eye on every cooldown, Have the BRD maintain rain of Death on the target, etc. etc.
This is all stuff that is above and beyond what is required for a PLD to tank. Paladins can take up to 4-5 stacks for a limited amount of time, paladins don't NEED sacred soil. Paladins don't need the rest of the team to support them with various debuffs, and paladins will require significantly less healing throughout an encounter.
In the end, yes, most of coil is possible with a Warrior, but it is far from ideal. Essentially everything in Coil is better done with a Paladin. -

Do warriors have considerable trouble holding mobs? I did my first AK run with one yesterday and omg, every mob group we ran into i'd get mad hate from the mobs.. for just letting off a cure o.0. The one the warrior was on would stay focused on him but the other 2-3 would all come after me, just for letting off a cure. was he just terribly terrible, or do they not have an aoe hate generator ability or something? I have ran with them in CM a few times and noticed dps gets quite a bit of aggro too, but we melt them so fast it don't matter.
Also have beat garuda and ifrit with them , but they just have to focus on one thing pretty much so they can hold it np. Are they just not cut out for multiple target engagements that can take more than 10 sec , or have I just had bad luck with warriors. I don't know, but as a paladin user myself I think paladin is the much better tank imo -
