I would suggest as others have to explore other classes and job roles, there is a lot more to be done within those guild quests alone.

This game isn't designed for you to hit level 50 and just run end game. I know that's how most MMOs are designed, but the approach is that once you get your battle job to 50, you are expected to either 1) level your subjob for cross class skills or 2) level crafting/gathering. There are also a ton of "non progression" based things you can do.
Approaching this game as a gear treadmill is probably the wrong mentality.
Wrong, this game IS designed as a gear treadmill, especially with how harsh gear checks are past ifrit. Gear is such a huge deciding factor in doing anything past ifrit/4 man's at 50, as well as there being absolutely no way to progress your character at 50 outside of dungeons.
The entire end game is gear up to be able to do this - > do this until you have enough gear to be able to do this - > etc etc. Yoshi-P also said this in interviews many times, it's the design.
Crafts? Both ones I want at 50 are 50 in AF. Gathering? Fishing is 50 in full AF. Subjobs? Fully leveled for everything I want.
Learn to read, this isn't a complaint about "I have nothing to do", I have plenty to do, it's all accessible via instantly porting to dungeons from any city. That's the complaint.
Cool, you beat the game in 3 weeks. I don't know what to tell you.
Agree with ChanceSkeleton. I really doubt SE intended players to reach level cap in under 3 weeks, which is arguably why they nerf'd speed runs in dungeons and will probably end up altering the fate system in some way as well. As a long time fan of SE (back even when they were squaresoft) almost all of their games intend you to search all nooks and crannies of the world for content and not simply exploit a min/max feature in a race to the finish.
Everyone that is currently level 50 definitely put in a fair number of hours. Having multiple jobs at 50 is bordering on hardcore status. They're lying if they say otherwise.
Do you need a reason to leave the city? You can't just leave?
What kinda "reasons" so you want anyway? Having to hoof it to a dungeon for the 50th time instead of being ported there enhances the experience that much?
Much worst my friend your within a series of tubes...
I am rarely ever in town but doing other things like gathering materials for FC and spiritbonding. To be honest I am more likely to craft out at hamlets then in the towns while I am waiting for a que. But then again I assume I am a minority plus i am always out waiting for the out of reach items but I screw up the times. I think you might be in town because you like being in town easiest access to FC chest, retainers, the board everything you want to access. Because lets say you wanted to spam Garuda Hard all day you would be standing at the crystal all day which is really no different then queing up so removal of middle man caused it.
Offtopic: To be honest I wish they would use some of the boards out in the wilderness as actual AH boards
1000% Agree.
Successful MMOs IMO:
FFXI - Good luck running around any of the L75+ areas without sneak/invis and even then it was dangerous as hell. Not paying attention in Sea/Sky would kill you pretty quick.
Aion - Aside from trespassing in enemy territory, running through Elite areas was extremely dangerous.
WoW - I think I died in some places in this game but don't remember.
One thing they all had in common was dangerous open world areas. Now, in ARR, I went afk in one of the beastmen strongholds, came back to 3 mobs attacking me and at 50% health, simply walked away... Not cool, not cool at all. I understand making the game appeal to the masses but even the casual masses like a game they have to work for to explore. One of the best parts of FFXI was just making it to the entrance of a fight. Pre nerf CoP anyone?
ATM u got as (end)game.
Crafting till 50 , nothing past that u get better gear in Dungeons, but makes some Gil on the way of the ah
Gathering till 50 - make some Gil of ah
Run 75x Amdapor Keeps for tombstones for DL1 and DL2 armor sets or run 60x the story Dungeon where u get 100points and nothing else at the end but its now faster, so ppl que for that instead of "60" Minute Amdapor Keep which is just a big time sink now. Im sad for all ppl which did not got to 50 by now u will have a long grind fest before u see your DL1 set complete.
Kill Ifrit (freeloot)
Kill Garuda (semi freeloot, u need some 60+ Gear here, decent tank and healers)
Kill Titan (60+/DL1 and if u got 0 lags u can kill him, with lags kinde impossible and dont try DF - he will wipe u at 15%HP for 100% cause 2 healer won´t outheal his dmg from stomps - maybe full DL2 with relic can do it, but thats not the normal DF group that ques anyway)
Go Coil of Bahamuth Turn1 till Turn5 - if u are hardcore player and well hope u got no lags ofcourse.
Thats Endgame atm.
Comming Soon? Maybe Oct/Nov
2.1 PvP
2.1 Houseing
2.1 LFR 24 man Raid
2.1 8man Hardmode Dungeon
edit: Wow, I just read even more posts, please read my post and learn how to read before you respond to threads. Nowhere did I say "I have nothing to do", I said "I have no reason to leave cities". So many people "omg you have so much to do go to TITAN HARDMODE!(seriously? Go to a dungeon? that'll give me a reason to leave a city? a dungeon I can INSTANTLY PORT TO FROM A CITY? lol...). "Omg go gather and craft!". I leveled my crafting classes to 50 already,
Let me stop you right here you have 1 DoM class at 50 1 gathering job at 50 and 2 crafting jobs at 50 yet you have no reason to leave the city. Sounds to me like your are complaining just to complain. Why not go level the rest of your classes:1, it gives you more versatility on whatever class you wanna play.2, it willGET YOU OUT OF
CITY. The beauty of this game is being able to switch classes on the fly so if you enjoy the dungeons just work on the other classes while you wait on the que to pop.
i saw somewhere in an interview yoshi say that they are going to be adding feild content other than fates but yeah i agree there needs to be danger in the world i mean no ones going to be a new mmo player forever so they would need to do something maybe a patch that buffs up lvl 50 open world mobs and adds stronghold or public dungeons that have hard mobs and even harder bosses and if you step in there alone you die anyway if people make enough noise im sure they'll do something i mean i never liked the idea of this game being too easy. I do hope one day they changed tis i don't feel fear in this game at all. In elder scrolls oblivion when i see a bear or a mountain lion (lvl 29 )difficulty slider up a bit past no,, minatour , ogre , or umbra i start feeling that fear. That one fight in shivering isles where you fight a reflection of yourself with the difficulty turned all the waand you have you get your ass handed to you by your own self that difficulty is what should be in this gamee if not harder for some level 50 open world content they do add.
You don't HAVE to level anything, if you don't like something...don't do it? is it that hard to understand?
-If you like gathering, then gather.
-If you don't like tanking, then don't tank
-Socialize
-Do end-game stuff, or don't.
-Go explore, find pretty scenery
-Find one class you like and stick to it, or level multiple, or all of them.
Each player is different, content is limited just like any other game. What you do with the time between content updates is up to you. If you don't wanna wait then go play something else, i for one am enjoying the game even after hitting 50.
I don't think the OP is saying there's nothing to do at 50. He's saying there's nothing to do outside at 50, and for the reasons he stated, he's absolutely right.
I hit level 50 last week, and have been focusing on crafting/gathering ever since. So I've been able to keep busy outside, but not everyone will enjoy crafting the way I do.
When I read this thread, I just see people who limit themselves. Of course you won't have a reason to <insert action>, if you're excluding things.
It's kind of like saying "I hate staying home, it's so boring" when you have all the opportunities in the world to... leave. Find something to do outside of the house. Oh wait, you don't like to do anything outside of the house? Well then, you just dug yourself further into the hole with that outlook. See how limited that sort of thinking makes you?
If everything else about the game is boring to you, you don't have to quit, but maybe take a break for a while. Not worth your time or money to do so? Then you quit. Simple and easy. Game hasn't even been live for a month, and we're a little ways till the FIRST content patch. Come back when there's more to do, if you want to. People like you clearly don't like to do things that people like me do, but that's normal.
And just to clarify, this is related to going out to the world at 50. Think of everything as a whole. Yeah, there isn't much reason for a lv50 combat class to go outside, but also remember that the game is still live for less than a month. Are you expecting the same level of content that WoW has after almost 10yrs?
The thing I miss most from FFXI this game doesn't offer is the AWE factor. This game is so easy atm no one is impressed by your feats. In FFXI when I hit 50+ with AF gear I could go sit in Ron'Faure (forget name) by the outpost and level 8's would walk up to me and be like "OMG soooo cooool"
