Rydin - your post makes me feel good inside. Kinda sad that I'm just now starting to really understand and enjoy battle regimens. I hope they still make those prominent or enhanced in the new system.
I wonder if what yoshi-p had to say about hearing from him had to do with this post?

If Akihiko has the answer. I'd be ecstatic to hear it, but I was thinking that a completely different team worked on the animations and MOB models than the ones who are working on the actual battle mechanics...
I'm actually starting a thread soon on Incaps... I really like the idea of it, and it puts me in the mind of Monster hunter and could most definitely be implemented better

I'll add my support to this thread. Additionally, I feel curious to see what the actual system looks like. Battle in FFXI was badly-balanced once dual wield and haste came into play because of how much faster one-handed weapons could swing compared to 2-handers, aside from the higher caps for attack on 2-handers.

After the big pr talk about more open developer attitude SE has decided to stop speaking about XIV almost completely. We know nothing of what's happening or what features are still in the works.
It's really dis-encouraging.
I don't think they are gonna tip their hand until early June on anything major just cause they don't want to promise things they can't maintain. I expect small tidbits tho on things like there were in the 9th letter. Just to keep people at ease with the minimal amount of info.
