No issues here. Don't get me wrong, it takes a bit to get used to the cross bar and targeting, but all in all, not bad at all.

I am loving this version. The option to change many of the settings mentioned are actually in game under the system menu options "Character Configuration" (this is for button changes, filters, etc.) and "System Configuration". Try your actual monitor/tv settings to fix the alignment.
PS3 players can always use PSN voice chat to communicate with other PS3 players. Honestly I feel like implementing a cross PC/PS3 voice chat would just stir our already bubbling issue pot.
Communication:
The problem is voice chat. There is no Skype on PS3 (While, PS ViTA has skype). By the way, I solve problem by using skype on my Laptop.
Gameplay:
It's very difficult to target enemy. For example, you are attacking 1 enemy and, another 2 enemies show up and attack you. With 4-D pad, you have to select one by one until you target. That's quite suffer. But it's not big problem at all.
TV Screen:
This problem, I really concern about it. Since, the game screen doesn't fit with my TV Screen (I play other games, they fits my screen). And, I don't know how to solve this problem. If someone from SQ-EX see my post, please consider about this.
Conclusion:
Overall, I quite impress about the gameplay (except server lock). And, I enjoy play this game. However, I wait for world transfer in nearly future, I will transfer my character to play with my friends again.
Most people these days have tablets or smartphones near them while playing anyways. What would be great is if XIV:ARR had an App that let you store all your gearsets on the Tablet and change them via it.
Most games tend to stay in the 'Safe-Zone' and not go into the 'Overscan'. SE tried to get as much as they could on the screen at one time, and so used the Overscan area as well. You can manually change the HUD settings (and you can click and drag the Chat-window via Mouse-mode) to be able to move it and expand/compress it.
As a beta tester since p3 on the PS3, the targeting has not changed much since the then if at all. Still a pain in the ass to target party members as a healer especially in fates with 10 or more people. But its the PS3 people it can't run as well as custom built gaming comps but it holds up pretty well and I can play it lying down which is a plus for me since I sometimes marathon a weekend farming or grinding. The voice chat thing not sure what to make of it but you can pretty much tell a player by their equipment and their setup how they will play
Don't worry the Ps4 update will be much better I am guessing. so just hold on a few months haha
It seems to me that your PS3 and most of all TV are not set correctly then. You need to have 720p resolutin allowed in the PS3 screen setting (do NOT force it to 1080i/p only), use of course HDMI and have the relevant TV HDMI input set to "native" / full screen / pixel maping / game mode. Switch OFF any additional picture processing in the TV or any "enhancing" modes (like sharpening, frequency doubling, MPEG fragment correction and all other useless crap) and most of all switch off any "zoom" modes like cinema, subtitles and so on. If no dedicated "gaming" / full screen mode is available use the 16:9 / widescreen mode. If you have more than one HDMI try other input(s) - some might have diferent settings or preferences. Try another HDMI cable as well just to be sure.
Try to use keyboard for that (F1 - F4 to targer 1. - 4. party member) or arrow up / down on controller. I have no issues whatsoever to heal on PS3 even in the most massive FATEs or other crowded locations. You can also plug USB mouse to PS3 and use that instead if you prefer so. I use combination of both.
Just pop in any USB keyboard into PS3's USB port (and you can use mouse too) or use any bluetooth one (even those for iPad and android tablets works fine).
Nope, they can't. Voice chat (unlike on Vita) can't be used in games, only the text chat.
I heard that if you install a SSD drive into your ps3, it improves performance
Which is obvious when you consider the whole ps3 system is not optimized or created with SSD's in mind. It just does not have the architecture/controllers for it.
It's hardly worth the cost - rather get new 750 - 1000 GB hard drive instead if needed.
I'm hoping and expecting that having the CD of the game will help with all the loading/frame rate and all that ,but I'm not sure. I am also just going to wait patiently for the PS4 which will be many times better for this game.
As for targeting, I have started to get better at it. The most important thing is to click the left direction pad to lock on your selected target. It then allows you to strife and kit wonderfully. I am having a better time with my archer then with my arcanist though. When there are too many monsters, it just doesn't work as well.
it runs smooth as hel never seen the frame drop for me anywhere... and the screen clipping off are your settings on ur tv or PlayStation
You realize you can use the PC to play on that 40", right?
Unless that 40" is in another room, which is just silly. Everyone should have a bigscreen in their gaming room.
On a serious note, I've been playing on my PC, alternating between gamepad (regular leveling) and M+KB (healing and tanking). The targeting is pretty bad on a gamepad -- so bad that I don't trust any healer to reliably heal more than 4 people with a gamepad in an AOE heavy fight. This worries me because I plan to play this on the PS4 (for when I'm away from home) when that version comes out.
It looks like they have the controls to use keyboard and mouse close but after spending hours trying to set key binds to the controller I simply could not find an easy way to bind one key to one button on my hotbar. This is a big downer for me and like mentioned several times in this thread, I will most likely not be playing a tank or healer because of this. Was a little deceiving seeing the gameplay guide for ps3 highlighting 1-0 keys use the hotbar, but simply doesn't appear to be the case. Maybe it was their intention to have the keyboard mapped for the xhotbar but I have yet to find anywhere how this actually works.
Target system drives me crazy... in some fights by the time I manage to target the enemy, he was alredy killed :(
