Thats just it though not all 1.0 people are capped 50s. I only have 1 class to 50 and am a 1.0 person on a legacy server. So your assumption of everyone on legacy being capped is flawed.
My reasoning for not wanting Legacy players to be able to xfer before the 6 month limitation:
- 1. I want to be on the front lines of end-game; I want to push the content with new players and wear the gear first
- 2. I want to grow and challenge my character with others, not be carried through content by experienced/geared player base (this could still be done on a legacy server, but why risk it)
- 3. I want to help shape and manipulate my own economy; I want my crafting to be beneficial to my fellow crafters instead of someone having a monopoly over the marker because they have all 50s leveled
I don't hate nor am I envious of Legacy players. I want to experience a new game, with new players.I deleted my 1.0 char.
The "play with my friends" thing, they can roll legacy, cant they? Or reroll, I did. It doesn't have to be about hate of legacy. It's about wanting to have fun and enjoy the game as if it truly were a fresh start, which it is!
So far it's been pure frustration trying to get them in. Open Beta was a pure disaster especially when they opened several new servers between Saturday and Sunday. Pretty much for Hyperion if you didn't get in by around 8am pacific on friday or between 2-7am on saturday morning there were no other real long stints where the servers were open.
Once you get a certain level of progress people don't want to reroll because then they're behind. So I'm hoping the first server transfers will be free so friends can move to hyperion D:
I'm going to buy the economy with my billion legacy gil.
I think its a simple solution. Just have the Legacy servers open to new players. So if you are Legacy you can have your friends play on that server.
Honestly what is it with legacy players wanting to join non legacy servers?
I can't see an honest respond Exept for the fact that Legacy players want to influence the new players.
If you say the following
.-"My friends can't play with me" Well tell your friends to make a character on your server
OR better yet, YOU create a char on they're server , You won't pay anything extra by doing that.
You guys want Square enix to find a way so you guys play on new servers without disrupting the balance.
NO TY.
I suggest Square enix Focus on better things, like making patches, balancing jobs, fixing errors.
Those saying that legacy players wont have any affect on the economy on new servers don't really understand how economies work. New server economies are fresh and they have to grow. The prices will be set by those selling and those buying. It's very easy to ruin all that when a butt load of people that 100k gil come in and re-adjust all the prices to what they want, not what the server as a whole has shaped it to.
I had a conversation with some one on legacy saying that later materials sell for 10k+ gil each. He said it as if it was normal, as if, when new servers got to that level, it was going to sell for the same amount. What he failed to understand was that on a new server, no one is going to have the money to buy things like that, so naturally the price will go down...by a lot. If legacy players pop in, then that price will stick and new crafters will be stuck playing catch up until they decided to gather for themselves. Then gatherers are put out of a job.
That's exactly what Yoshi does not want and thinking that would never happen is like a baby thinking a fire wont burn him.
Simple. I like my character with his tatoo. I like my Giantsgall Sword. My friends don't want to play on Balmung. I have to abandon my character entirely to play with my friends.
Mind you, I don't have all lv50s (PLD was my only 50 on my legacy character). I'm not exactly rich either. Hell, the most valuable thing I have is my PLD AF gear and the aforementioned sword. If I could transfer off Balmung on to Diabolos I'd do it in a snap.
You get gear through many quests, storylines. You can even purchase from the vendor for cheap. And as you go through the dungeons, you will get even better rar/ex gear. Probably wouldn't need to buy anything till maybe lvl 40+ and thats a big maybe. (<---Don't know what lvl the other dungeons are) So really? We can make a profit in the first few days? When you don't have much gil just starting out?
Who said he would produce LV 50 gear? All he has to do is to HQ everything between 1 and 30.Quote:
So let's work this out logically. A char with every job at 50 jumps over and starts harvesting and crafting level 50 gear/weapons/consumables, that is the worry? So, who is going to buy all this level 50 gear/weapons/consumables? There will be no level 50's around to buy it. There will also be a lack of gil in the economy to pay over-inflated prices. Give it two weeks (if that) and there will be level 50 crafters on non-Legacy servers, there will be people with millions of gil, the only advantage a Legacy player really has is that they can start doing end game content, farming up items that they can really only sell to other legacy players (at least for 2 weeks).
They said it would be at least 6 months before you can transfer a legacy character off a legacy server. So by then economies will be established and it won't really make much of a difference.
I look forward to the day I can transfer my main to which I worked very hard to develop over the last 3 years to the server of my Guild's choosing. Until then, I'll just level an alt on that sever and experience the world through fresh overly 可愛い eyes.
I honestly feel that Legacy characters should stay on Legacy servers. Just having the feel of a fresh new server and everyone fighting and leveling together just feels right. This is why I re-rolled a new character, just feels better. Also would be no fun having some level 50's in town while everyone is working hard to leveling up (Which would also in turn create reasons to power level since there are levels 50's that could exploit some way of power leveling lower level players.)
the better solution is the ones that the devs have come up with, 1.0 players get to keep their levels and are segragated from new players and players that want to start over from the beginning, as they is a reboot of the game.
Then at some later time 1.0 characters can move anywhere they wish, when doing so would not give them an advantage over players on new servers.
If a 1.0 player wishes to start on a new world all that is required is that you create a new charcter and start fom lv 1 just like everyone else on that server
It's funny how people think legacy players saved all this gil and items just so that one day they could abandon all thier friends to go rule some noob server. Dead horse is so dead, should probably bury it now
I know it's a pipe dream, but the only thing I want is my Goobbue-mount on my new char. I don't even care about the gil.
What I dislike most about this argument and legacy players is they refuse to accept that people want to play on a new server just for the game to be NEW. Not a single legacy player could tell me truthfully if they had no 1.0 character and was starting new they would choose to play on a legacy server without lying through their teeth. Hell as you can see I am level 50 and I chose to play on a new server because for 1.0 players that did not play after the patches ARR is a totally new game.
6 months down the road SE does not need to let legacy players xfer to new servers they just need to remove the tags from the servers altogether. But new players and 1.0 players on new server deserve at least 6 months of a NEW game to themselves before throwing 1.0 players into the mix. And yes even for new servers xfers need an item/gil limit because 1.0 was just full of bots and ARR will be too if SE lets them run rampant like they did in both FFXI and 1.0. Has nothing to do with legacy players or any kind of hate people have for them it just isn't a new game when people are already 50 on your server getting crap done first is what motivates a lot of people to play a new MMO. Gives us a chance to establish guilds and get in on the ground floor because if you have played a MMO much at all you know you are never treated quite the same in a guild unless you are a founding member no matter how well you play.
And 1 million gil? More like 1 billion this character has a million gil and I only played 1.0 for a little over a month when it was actually hard to make money and level. And again do not forget about the bots they have enough money to manipulate the economy on a legacy server much less on a new one.
What about making 3 new legacy servers, and allowing legacy players the ability to transfer to those "New" Legacy servers, then open it up for new char.creation after a few days. this would allow legacy players the ability to play on a brand new server, and not on a server where new players are wanting to make sure everyone starts new? just a thought..
Did I say "EVERY" legacy person? No.. I said all the ones who had threads. And I guess it was ok for them to belittle others but now when its turned on them its not ok. I get it..
You have no idea what letting max lvl players onto a brand new server at launch can and will do to the economy and all the new players on it.
I remember when in FFXI they made the server Hades and let us transfer toons to it back in 04. People with new toons couldn't make any money because all the lvl 75s that transferred controlled the Auction House/NMs/Sky. The prices were to the roof. So what happened? The economy failed because now you had 100s of gilsellers poping up because people couldn't farm or make monay so they bought gil.
The sad part was so many people wanted to get off that server because the economy was sooo bad and they couldn't. We were stuck on it unless we made new toons on another server.
So plz don't give me that crap about it wont hurt the server. It will..
It's not a "Legacy Player" issue, it's a "version 1.0 character" issue. And we already have several solutions already considered and chosen by Yoshi-P:
• Legacy (v1) players can create new characters on new worlds.
• New players can create their new characters on Legacy worlds.
• Legacy (v1) characters cannot transfer to new worlds until months after launch.
The only "problem" is if new player friends don't want to create their characters on a Legacy world, but that's really just an issue between individuals and has nothing to do with this game.
Exactly. As a Legacy player, I thought about the reasons I wanted to bring my v1 character to a new world. (I have gil! I have levels! I have things are not available to new ARR characters! etc.) All of them are equally valid reasons why a new ARR player would not want such a character on his/her new world.
In a few months the new servers will have players with all 50s. By the time legacy players can transfer there, it's not going to matter one bit. The only things that legacy players will bring there that didn't exist already are vanity items.
Seriously, stop complaining about it already.
I'm a legacy player and I thought long and hard about starting over, rerolling a fresh character on a fresh server and very nearly did. However, I don't want to go through all the "new server drama" again. People seem to somehow think that legacy players are all cheating, botting scumbags who want to spoil everyone else's enjoyment, but that's simply not true. I truly believe that on every server there will be the few powergamers who will race to 50 on their crafting/gathering jobs and craft and gather and corner the markets...it won't be the legacy people, it will be new people. They will hoard and craft and make millions off everyone else as they level up slower, just like they did at the start of 1.0. I went through that once and don't want to go through it again.
New servers aren't going to all sunshine and rainbows like people seem to believe, just like legacy servers aren't all hellfire and brimstone. I am disappointed that the community has been split like this and it truly saddens me to see all the hate and prejudice. SE should never have "labeled" the servers in the first place (beyond EU/NA/JP labels) and just offered transfers for old players to a server of their choice and new players to start anywhere.
I agree with Kaliska. Aside from economy fluctuations, there seems be a lot of assumptions that ALL legacy 1.0 players are elitists and jerks. While I cannot argue against this statement, I think these assumptions can be applied to the new worlds as well. The first handful of players to reach level 50 will run around acting all superior and snobbish to everyone still trying to reach their levels. It should also be noted that these same first level 50 players on the new servers will easily dominate the marketplace early-on. This scenario is generally unavoidable - be it on new or Legacy servers. As for me, I think I will stick to my legacy server with my original and new character(s). I haven't actually encountered any personal issues with anyone from 1.0. Most of the people I have met have generally been friendly to me.
After open beta I really don't see the point to splitting us all up in the first place. I wasn't able to level one class from 1 to 20 in open beta, while other people managed to level 5 or 6 classes to 20. I'm on a Legacy server and there are people on new servers that are arguably much more leveled than me. There will be people hitting 50 on every server within a week. There will be people with outright dumb amounts of gil on new servers in a month. Treating people who played the original game like lepers isn't going to save you from being on a server with people with more levels and gil than you.
Yeah, maybe part of why I'd want to be on a new server is I do want to show off some items I have. That's kind of the point of an MMO, isn't it? I feel a bit cheated by SE to have been offered the limited time Goobbue mount, paying for a subscription and leveling up just to get it, only to find out later that I'm stuck in a quarantine zone where most people also have it.
That happened in 1.0 it will not happen as severely in ARR. How fast you level in ARR will just prevent it from happening in any kind of degree that it happened in 1.0. I know about 1.0 I did it with cotton/velveteen cloth. Long before any weaver was high enough to make it I farmed bogies in a cave no one knew about for days on end selling those cloth for ungodly prices. And a lot of that was because crafts were so out of wack and like a weaponsmith needed that cloth at like level 10 to make his weapon(could not just get them off the vendor or class quest like now) and the cotton cloth was like a level 20 item to make for weaving. In ARR 1-20 in a craft is like 1 hour if you have the mats available and even faster if you use leves.
That is exactly a good reason for not allowing them on our servers. And you don't even know how bad it really is I have 9 classes to 20 and I was offline due to 3102 for a day and a half I am sure there are people with more like 15 classes to 20(my brother is one of them). That way you are rewarded for your dedication to leveling either with the economy by getting crap no one else can yet. Or just for the accomplishment of getting there first. By adding 1.0 characters you totally remove that factor from the game for some people. Yeah these players are a minority but you are suggesting taking this from them while a 1.0 player gains nothing from joining a new server except the fact he gets to have this feeling of being more progressed then everyone else without actually earning it.Quote:

It will probably happen faster in 2.0, more so because it is so much faster to level up now. People played none stop at 1.0 launch and leveled through the old awful "fatigue" and still got to max in what...a week? People will be there in days now. They'll do it like they always do, working in groups, one crafting the others bringing in mats and gil. The threat to new servers economy isn't legacy people, its the new people themselves.
This is more or less how the entire thread came across. Although I have no plan to transfer to a 'new' server as legacy (I love my free company too much), I just don't get it. Folks telling people to re-roll, really? Square has defined some set amount of time that they feel necessary before allowing transfers. The same people complaining are likely to be dominated by a crafter / 'new' player that is good at manipulating the market anyway. Why on earth would you limit a fans from having the capacity to play with one another? You wouldn't. I appreciate that there is a time gap to allow some catching up but anything beyond the current restrictions outlined seems unnecessary (nor do I think it would actually change).
Hehe you wont meet many people that level faster then I do and I did not hit 50 on conjurer till 1/1/2011 which is a little over 2 months so no you will not find a single person that leveled to 50 in a week. And to get there that fast you hit the max fatigue level just about every week. And yeah I expect people to hit 50 on their first class(if they ignore subs and crafting for the most part) in more like 24 hours. Which is why even though some players will make a bit of money they will not be able to do it for long. But for some people that is part of the fun of a new server and exactly what 1.0 characters getting xfered to their servers would ruin.
Btw I notice you hit 50 about a month after I did which tells me you are pretty fast at leveling too so you should see why this advantage on a new server is a positive experience for some players. I would expect that when you hit 50 there was probably maybe 20-30 people on your server that were also 50 and it felt good to be up there with the select few well new players want that same chance.
I've got news for you. New players can be jerks too. Legacy players don't have a monopoly on asshatery.
Let's say you walk through the wrong neighboorhood and get robbed by some gangster who happens to be a particular race. Do you then think that everyone of that race is a gangster? No, because that would be racist. Same thing here. Legacy players can be kind people or douchebags, just the same as new players can.
my reason for not wanting legacy players on new servers is this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VlD624cMVI (not saying all legacy players did do this but too many of y'all did) people used the "i cant play with friends because they aren't on my legacy server" as an excuse you know dang well if your friends ask you to help them level up faster you know you'll do it and that isn't what i'd like to see on new servers, i see pling happening on legacy servers and i dont mind because they aren't going to affect my new server
edit: this isnt my main lvled this guy on a jp legacy server when i got error 3102 at level 5 on my main
I don't think it is irrelevant because i would love to play with all players together legacy or not but maybe i didn't express myself right. It is just that me as a NEW player to this game don't want to be with OLD(Legacy) players together in one server...not primarily because i don't like legacy players(And yes they are legacy and non legacy assholes) it is because i want to discover this game with other NEW players together and fail together not having somebody tell me how to do it or to beat this dungeon and so on(and yes there will be asshole new players there too, i know that). I hope i did express myself right...i am horrible at building sentences sorry:)
Yes, I can understand that, but I'm not talking about DoW/DoM jobs, I'm talking about the economy (as I think most people are when they hate on legacy people) and DoL/DoH jobs. Personally I think people on new servers are going to be screwed by the powerlevelers until their economy's settle when more people level up. I don't know, just seems like so much hate and nastiness over some that is going to happen anyway, but aimed at the wrong people....if that makes sense.
With the amount of new content (even the old dungeons have changed) no one, not even legacy players will be able to tell you how to do stuff. Everyone will be completing the content from a fresh prospective, its just that people from 1.0 will be able to tackle the higher stuff first.
But...be aware that if you use the duty finder you may well end up playing with these legacy players in dungeons anyway.
