personally, i hope most of the jobs go through pretty big revisions. to me, not really many of classes were "fun". they were effective at their roles, but i wouldn't classify them as fun to play anymore.
look at blm for example. it did some of the highest dps in a boss encounter, but it was a very boring class to play honestly. there was no versatility to the job and it was quite boring to play although it was used for almost everything.
"oh wow i am fighting a single mob so it's thunder thunder thunder and then rinse and repeat" or it was "oh, i'm fighting a group of mobs so i just burn them with fire fire rinse and repeat"

But it would be silly if multiple skills you have, would make you immune to damage through the entire animation. And it would look silly if you were just jumping around with multiple skills.Quote:

no i didn't come to disagree on everything ^^ i just read you comment, and thought some of the stuff didn't make sense...so i pointed out my opinion about it; that's discussion too.
I haven't played beta, so i cant say i know what direction all the classes are taking. I need to play it first, to know that.
But i can say i'd wanna see Lancet skill return :) some FF XI skills, like wyvern, as well as seeing Jobs having their own passive skills and such, like normal classes do. DRG didn't feel very unique in 1.0; you just had your 5 skills, of which all were quite circumstantial, and hardly used most cause long cooldowns, and them being circumstantial. GCD will fix some of it in ARR, but i still wanna see jobs having their own passives, to give them a more unique direction.
Jobs is just a restricted class with 5 specific skills; DRG is like Lancer, but with less variety; And its a bit sad if the only thing setting DRG aside from Lancer, is jumping. Bard for example has multiple buffs, that benefit entire party; that's pretty big difference from Archer. BLM gets stronger attack skills. But DRG....just get jump.
But then again, like i said; i don't know what direction they are taking the jobs, or how it will play, so can't really make any judgment about it, or what i wanna see change :) For all i know, they might already changed it all. -

I never played drg in ffxiv, so I don't know the story behind it and this might be a stupid question. Did they ever link it to anything dragon related? Seems like abilities along those lines would be another thing that separates it from other dd's.

Which is why i'd wanna see jobs have their own passives. Such as damage bonus vs dragons for DRG for example.
