So does horses only exist for Odin.. or..?
Ooh.. according to that FFXIV Wiki, he grows stronger every time he gets beat.. O.o I did not know that.
The first Final Fantasy has horses but still not sure if it's really unicorn.
I wonder look like kind hard mode http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veg69wQ-If8 Odin Chamber II 2.0
Odin is a primal an elder primal just like bahamut as you can see though they dont follow the same rules as the others they do what they want
Since Odin is likely gimped down in this game, let's see...
1. Who is he - He could easily just be a long dormant elder primal that awakened with the wake of Bahamut.
2. Who controls or who does he side with - Compared to the last FF MMO, probably around on his own will this time around.
3. Is he a primal - Elder Primal.
4. Is he in his own league - We'll see..with how people complain about difficulty......
5. Is he an NM - Nope.
5. does he have something to do with lifestream..Aether - It's possible, as he's a Primal, but it's also unlikely he's anywhere near close to being that important whereas other primals are generally born from/use aether, Elder may simply be more powerful versions.
6. Did he come from the dark side - There's no real dark side in the mythos we have thus far, unless you mean from a dimension Atomos could have pulled him from, possible.
For comparison sake, in XI he basically rules Einherjar/Valhalla and will create a pact with anyone who will serve as his vessel until Ragnarok, so his "Summoner" only has one duty which he will keep them alive eternally until Ragnarok. He also randomly killed people in the overworld.
Hypothesis:
After we were sent to the timeless rift, Louisoux sacrificed his being to become Odin, cut Bahamut down to size and sealed him within a labarynth.
i know for a fact that louisoux is not odin that doesnt even make sense people dont just transform into elder primals :3 what is possible is that uringer could have made a pact with odin or who ever has the ability to locate him
That wasn't fully explained either, since there's no allusions toward Odin at all in FFIV up until that point so like FFV, was just SE throwing Odin into the game. It's very unlikely he turns into Odin as there's no allusions in the lore that states people can be Primals.
Unlike XI where we know Garuda, Shiva and Ramuh were beings other than Avatars until Altana basically made them one, we learned that early into the game's lifespan and lore, so unless there's hidden lore somewhere that states people can turn into Primals, then the theory that he's Odin could hold some meaning.
Aether can do some strange things..but I really don't think making them a god tier Primal is one of it..or us using anima would basically give us means of being a god tier primal as well.
Firstly, let us not forget that Lou had the essence of twelve gods at his fingertips. And, being the head of the Circle of Knowing, the most knowledgeable group on Aldenard, he knows how to use it.
Secondly, if you believe the dreamers of hatching-tide, the archons are gods manifested already and the Circle are claiming the titles of archons. There is clearly far more to this group than they have seen fit to reveal to us so far.
Thirdly, the markings on Odin's shield resemble the tattoos of the Circle of Knowing.
Granted, I can't prove it until ARR lays down the plot as we play the game, but this hypothesis is at least as plausible as any other.
the markings on odins shield do not anywhere near resemble the circle of knowing marks
http://images.wikia.com/finalfantasy.../Ff14-odin.jpg
second i do not believe the dreamers of hatching tide because if they where manifestations of the gods they would have easily stopped bahamut
On the markings, you are welcome to disaggree.
For hatching-tide, it is more likely the truth is a bit veiled and the dreamers are drawing a misinterpretation. While their being the Twelve themselves is rather unlikely, it still highlights there is more to them than meets the eye. Something mythologically important about the archons at the very least. That is enough to make things plausible.
Edit: And maybe they did indeed stop Bahamut? We've been told that ARR would address those moments between Bahamut and Lou after we were sent to the timeless rift. That fight wasn't over and Bahamut doesn't seem to still be wrecking the Eorzean landscape anymore, does he?
well of course they eventually stopped him but im saying if they are the "gods" then bahamut would have been resealed the first time louisoux did the entrapment spell
They did say we won't be using Anima anymore or something, which is something related to the Aether and that it'll be explained in game, so it's possible there was a disruption but not depletion unless the Primals existing now once killed won't be coming back ever again storywise unlike 1.0 where they can basically recycle.
Odin and Bahamut have both officially been given the titles of "Elder" Primal. Odin in his first concept art release in the 2.0 timeline, and bahamut in a LFP shortly after the 1.0 servers went down.
I suspect the Good King Moggle Mog XII is also in this league.
They made it clear that elder primals will not be summonable. Too powerful to be controlled like that.
I have a feeling he will only appear when there is a full moon...haha just a fun guess based off the new video lol
odin is always in front of a full moon its his fav hang out :P
You dont mean...

Edit: checked the metadata on this compass I designed. Almost 9 years lol! I dare anyone to find one posted earlier ^^
[Proof of compass age]
Yep lol, first thing that came to mind.
He's beyond an abyssal :P
good stuff lots of info to think about. I think the storyline will be good. sounds like if im running through the forest and i happen to run into him i mine as well hit the return button.
Methinks Odin could be a manifestation of Emperor Solus zos Galvus (or vice versa?)... and every full moon, ol' boy Solus needs to absorb aether to stay alive (like a vampire needs blood); so he goes into Odin mode for a bit of a snack. Sure, its an extremely wild theory but several of us had fun with these speculations a few months ago on the forums.
Mind you, its not just those crazy horns that both of them have... it's the fact that both he and Bahamut are regarded as "Elder" primals. The Garlean Emperor and his "mission" to purge the world of primals kinda sounds like he's trying to "consolidate" their essences to himself, innit? Perhaps that's how Elder primals evolve... remember how after Midgardsormr takes down the flagship Agrius, it seems like he splits off into several primals?
Still, something doesn't add up... but my other clue towards this theory was that the Emperor's two (best?) generals were the Raven (Nael) and the Wolf (Gaius)... and those two symbols are sacred to none other than the Odin from Norse mythology.
*Shrugs*... just saying.
All we know is that we know shits . .
This has been explained a little.
First and foremost, Midgarsormr is a king or guardian of wyrms/dragons, not a primal. Best guess is they keep growing with age, and it also represents their stature in dragonkin.
ANYWAYS, in the fight over silvertear falls, the great wyrm causes the ship to crash... the ceruleum which fuels the ship ignited, and killed Midgarsormr and anything nearby, but the explosion was concentrated over an ancient seal noone knew about at the center of the lake. When this seal was broken, the primals were set free.
Most likely this holds some relation to the crystal tower, and the tomb of Xandes I is near both of these elements of Mor Dhona. HOW close, or any overlap, is still unknown.
Hmmm... more analysis of the unknown. And yep Duuude, now that you reminded me I remember the lore now... Midgardsormr was initially thought to be guarding what we know as Thaliak's shrine/godstone whatever (underneath Silvertear). But that's also the tomb of Xandes innit?
Then could Odin be Emperor Xandes of the Allagan empire? (3rd or 4th Astral era). Didn't Yoshi say he's not dead and is only in cryo-sleep? The ol'chap has to be some sort of immortal to still be remotely "alive" by this time. Perhaps when the Silvertear seals were broken, he was awakened as Odin?
Or perhaps, he was always the primal elder Odin; only disguised as a mortal in the form of Xandes?
He was the first in a line of Allaghan kings, and Darnus was a distant descendant of the Allaghans.
I think Darnus's animations were concluded as Elezen lol.
...in case races are relevant, of course.
Yep, Darnus is as Elezen as they come... besides, the lore does explain that the Elezen were the first race on Eorzea by "divine" right, so its plausible to assume the ruling dynasty of the Allagans could have been Elezen.
Matter of fact, this now starts to tie into what Nael may have been up to... release Bahamut to "assassinate" the Twelve and then resurrect great great great (x 100) grandfather Xandes (who turns out to be Odin). And then eventually Darnus...(because he's ruthless like that)... gets rid of granddad and declares himself a god.
Or wait wait... just got another spiffy idea... Bahamut is so disgusted by the dark cunning in Nael's soul that he spits him back out as Odin.
Heh... the fun of speculations.
Where do you get this lore from?
I wonder if odin was trapped like bahaumt and has been released because of the calamity
It was a key not a sword.
