Pretty sure you have to confirm your report.. XD
I suppose it depends on how often there is someone to report.. if ARR is popular it should be a right click because help desk is just too far away for my fingers.. :P

1 or 2 Full time GMs would eliminate most RMT/Bot issues completely. auto reporting is always abused in every game its in and is eventually disabled server side due to this abuse.
that would create more work than necessary.
Is called "Service Business" for some reasons if you want to know... Is necessary. and suggested by IloveYouPumpkin, abusing will get the abuser in trouble only.
See ArenaNet's GW2, in a week those 40+ bots got banned, getting less spammy and less botty :|
So yea, is a necessary and effective way to report.
My problem with chats like this is I don't want to filter them out because I want to be able to look for the useful messages, but I don't want to spammed with the useless blather that starts to happen.
I spent plenty of nights in uldah watching for dungeon runs/xp pts/quests shouts/mission shouts/etc. only to have my chat log filled with the retarded shout conversations people like to take part in because they find it humorous.
Was the chat itself funny? sure. The fact that it was happening over the shout chat? not so much.
I personally would hate this. only reason is sometimes the chat bar gets loaded enough with LS, /talk regular party shouts. I can see the benefits to this like when there is a RATE going on or something like atomos, but in all honestly i wouldn't want more in my chat bar than i already have, and plus people's just shouting for stupid things over the whole server or over several zones would annoy. :/
At first I thought I wouldn't really mind this kind of feature. I would be the kind to engage in global randomness.
Fondly I remember Gysahl where many people used the Party Menu for recruiting members and people were proactive in setting their status in the Search Menu, using these functions to seek out and inform others. I loved having people just jump straight into party without needing to invite them and being able to recruit a specific setup, gathering at the content and having less work to do in recruiting, enabling focus on other tasks as a leader.
Ragnarok was a completely different story. I think this is heavily influenced by the demographic. I would never see Party listings, the occasional person would be seeking in the Search function and people would spam Ul'dah for great lengths of time in hope of finding their members. Ragnarok has a smaller population though, so this could also be a factor.
I think this highlights a reliance not only on the Developers and their tools but also effort in usage by The Community. The party search feature is useful and has a good foundation that could be strengthened by feedback and development.
I've been hoping for change in that when someone was invited by leader it would update the Recruit. You have to close and redo the entire recruit again if you use /pcmd to add a member. It sucks when you end up with more of a class/job than you asked for >_<;
I am fearful that adding a global channel will only drive more people to use that as a mechanism for party building as opposed to putting the small amount of effort Recruit & Search require to do it in a more efficient and functional way.
that's like saying nobody will press the red button that states "do not press, will unleash feral cheetahs." ofcoarse people are going to press it.
that creates more work, so not only do you have to ban bots/RMT's now you have to temp ban bored people too. not only that but now you have to manage disciplinary actions based on the number of offenses for every non rmt/bot out there.
a Community GM is far more effective than any type of report function auto or not.
I take it you've not played FFXI in a long time, otherwise you'd know that no filter on Earth is going to kill all the ways RMT find to obfuscate the text to avoid anything resembling filterable content, while at the same time still allowing a human to understand it.
SE's biggest problem here is the human mind's powerful pattern recognition abilities which extract meaning from what to even a sophisticated RE is little more than random garbage.
This!
SE have to learn from Blizzard and make it EASY and QUICK to report RMT, and other players, engaging in 'illegal' chat, cheating, etc.
One of FFXI's biggest fails in the battle with RMT is the hugely inconvenient method SE require you to report cheating, you have to do it OUT OF GAME which means few people ever do I expect. Even reporting RMT spam is a pain and one I rarely bother with, give me a one-click solution and I'm perfectly willing to.
