    /Yell & Rmt counter measure

Since we got many zones, should we get the /yell for ffxiv?
/yell (Can shout in many zones at once if there linked if your standing in 1 of those zones and can only use this like every 3-5mins)

    Just thought of this idea...

There should be some key words that will flag GMs to check you out and see if your RMT.

    Gil.Money,$,Cash,Sell,Buy, URL links, /?????/????.com etc.

Like if a Gil Seller shouts in Uldah or /tells a player the game will message Square Enix Headquarters if they are using any combo of words. Once a Character seems to repeating these key words over and over they can be easily taken care over.

Im Sure few other key words can be added to the list.

Ultimate solution: community enforcement. Right Click > Report Spam flags an account for spam and adds it to a temporary, session-limited ignore list for you. Getting X (50, 100, whatever) amount of spam flags prompts GM/special unit investigation.

Limiting the amount of times you can shout and censoring words impedes on legitimate use, and automatic flagging depending on keywords will lead to a lot of false reports.

    This!

SE have to learn from Blizzard and make it EASY and QUICK to report RMT, and other players, engaging in 'illegal' chat, cheating, etc.

One of FFXI's biggest fails in the battle with RMT is the hugely inconvenient method SE require you to report cheating, you have to do it OUT OF GAME which means few people ever do I expect. Even reporting RMT spam is a pain and one I rarely bother with, give me a one-click solution and I'm perfectly willing to.

We need to be able to report people for RMT spam in-game and SE needs to be quick about it. Anyone caught RMT spamming should just be banned immediately on the spot. Even if someone is stupid enough to make a fake message to "test" SE, should get banned. It should be known to everyone that typing a message like that gets you banned right away.. How much spam do you really think we would have if these people were banned on the spot opposed to 5 weeks later?

It's amazing how incapable companies seem to be when it comes to this.. Is it really that hard to put together a team dedicated to banning RMT spammers on the same day? The RMT'ers would lose too much money if their accounts were getting banned the same day I think.. Of course there would still be RMT but I'm okay with that as long as they're not spamming.

i would love a straight out server wide shout. makes it easier to get things together. i hate when you need to sit in town to get a party or make one. don't see why they gotta make it map/zone only anyway.

Filters are rather easy to avoid as a human, so they are useless. All they do is make the life harder for legit players.

That's not the job of the shout channel. You have 2 different systems for that in 1.0 and ARR will have the content finder.

Actually, I don't see the use of a "global" chat except for spamming your chat log with useless chatter.

Global channels are useful for many things, including having a proactive party/LS/FC/trade search, instead of passive systems like content finder, party finder, and MW/AH. If you don't see the use for global channels, I don't know what to tell you.

They're also completely optional, so if you really think they're spammy, you don't have to use them.

I don't see why there is a need for a proactive party search. That would mean the content finder isn't doing it's job. As for LS/FC, it's a matter of opinion. Some prefer shouting for random people, some invite people after they got to know them a bit. Trading... there are market wards/AH for that. If people want the item, they will go there, shouting doesn't magically make someone want your stuff.

edit: the thing with it being optional... once you disable it and someone uses it expecting you to use it too, it will end up in "Y U NO LISTEN?!" misunderstandings. And having to turn it on/off all the time is a bother.

Because with a proactive search you can potentially target people who aren't actively using these other systems but would still like to do whatever it is that you're searching about. There are numerous times in WOW where I've join people on group quests, raids, PVP, and whatever else because someone asked about it in zone or global chat. It's also used to set up "pre-made" battleground and dungeon groups, instead of relying on randoms from the cross realm dungeon/raid/PVP finder.

And it also has invaluable use for people who don't know what to do in a game, because they can just ask zone/global chat about something, and get an answer right away, instead of having to dig through fansite guides or wait on forum posts.

Let me ask you this, why are you so against a feature that is optional?

I dont think people will expect you to have the global chat on, if you are trying to talk to -one- person through global chat.. you're doing it wrong.

I think Wolife hit it in the head with that sue thing, because while GMs responded quickly I remember some pretty big tyrants as well. So SE was probably like "yeah... this isnt going to happen again, you just got permanerfed"
(Just want to make sure everyone knows I'm not saying all the GMs where / are like this, just the bad of a few spoiled it for all)
