I'm pretty curious to know how many legacy members did -NOT- get an email. I knew it was no guarantee, but I was far too optimistic I guess.
Probably, because as I said, while it was no sure golden ticket, legacy members do/did feel they had better chances. It would have been cool if SE did a legacy testing day, where every legacy member just got a few hours, just a little red carpet event and then it'd be over.
Ultimately it won't ruin my day, but that doesn't mean it doesn't suck to not get an invite. :P
Most of my friend got the email...except me! /sadface
.... continue working till lady luck will be on me next quota.
I must be one of the few people who don't really care about getting in, I mean the most I'm gonna do is check my FPS ingame, walk around and check out the new battle system...
All the feels in this thread are depressing, because I also know that feel.
SE will most likely see how many out of those accounts get to play the game, and will revoke/send out more invites accordingly. Just my theory though.
lol exactly, the whining about it is ridiculous. They have to let in enough to get the numbers up to the testing numbers they want. More invites will be sent. But even when that happens, people are gonna whine about how devoted to the cause they've been and didn't get in on the 2nd invites. We need people who ACTUALLY want to help the game, not just play it because they want to see 2.0 or because they're currently going through withdrawls. As long as testing goes miles better than what is expected of the alpha tests, we can expect to all be rewarded. To players who got in and are reading the forums and laughing at these people: Don't halfway do anything, get this done and help make the game great, don't just be in Alpha to rub it in anyone's nose, help them to help us. Do it for Louisoix.
I think my email being empty is my punishment for getting into the original alpha and not contributing much :/ (Because my laptop at the time wasn't able to run the thing very well).
I am genuinely happy for people who have gotten in but also so bitter!!! haha, We wants it... We needs it!!
I'm wondering where are the people who actually got in... really curious to get an idea of who actually got an invite. I'm not sure where this idea that you violate the NDA for saying whether or not you recieved an email offering an invitation came from... that's just ridiculous. But because of how rumors spread around these forums.. I'd guess that what most people are going to believe..
In any event, it seems like SE did a horrible job of showing their appreciation to those that supported their game.. but what else is new..
I don't see how support of one game means you should have some kind of expectation for special services from SE towards another game...
FFXIV and FFXIV: ARR have been stressed to be independent games at the core systems. Alpha testing has been stressed to be equal for all applications regardless of your progression in FFXIV, save for the stated requirements. Why you think they need to show appreciation for our continued investment to FFXIV needs to be carried over to alpha confuses me...we have enough appreciation with legacy, goobbue, and other unique in-game items.
I'm almost certain if they just released a character creator standalone 96% of the complaining would stop. However, to be honest I've been in various mmo alphas... they have all sucked. If anything you just get more bored with the game come launch because it doesn't feel as "new". I do understand people being upset though I didn't get an invite this round either, but I couldn't care less. This is because not all the character creator races/features are implemented yet so odds are I'd be stuck testing on a character I really hate to look at. If I don't get in until beta, fine with me XD
Quit playing yourself.. its the same game... we supported version 1.0 knowing full well 2.0 was on the horizon for about the past 2 years.. that was the whole point..I guess you just got here (and if that's the case, shouldn't you be downloading the ARR client rite now.. LOL) ...?
I never mentioned any entitlement.. I simply stated the fact that they continue to do a horrible job showing appreciation.. Legacy would be nice if it meant sumthing, but clearly that doesn't even give people early access to the alpha of a game they been playing for the past 2 years.. I get that your satisfied, and that's fine, to each his own.
Again, that's just a rumor your proliferating unless you can show where in the NDA SE get's the right to censor your email account... You can not disclose any information you become privy too as a result of accepting and agreeing to participate in the Alpha yes, but saying whether or not you received an email regarding an "invitation" to alpha is not violating the NDA.
Anyone know if they're done sending out invites? I'd prefer not to check my email if I know I have 0% chance of getting one. :/
Quit the entitlement shit. The alpha isn't a full game where people hop in to just prance around in enjoyment land. It's to test, and fix the game so we can have a better one. Man people sometimes.
They're not censoring your email account, they're censoring people opening their mouths about alpha and receiving an invite to the alpha is classed as information about alpha. Pretty much everything alpha-related after you send in your app is top secret. I can't find ARR's NDA for the life of me (I'm sleepy as sin and still lots of work to do, so I'm extra dopey right now), though the clause was there for the 1.0 alpha (oops, there's me opening my big mouth!). You'll notice the whole lack of people talking about if they're in alpha - because of the NDA. Take it as a rumor if you will, but we know otherwise~
Yea, guess I'll just have to continue to view it as rumor.. I was also in 1.0 closed alpha/beta, and open beta, and was freely talking about it (not the actual alpha or closed beta, but that the fact we were busy testing and had to miss various XI events at the time). In fact I remember a whole thread of people excited about their anticipation to start testing for 1.0 somewhat bragging about getting an invitation.. Obviously neither I, nor did any of my LS mates, receive any warning for talking about how excited we were to be able to test. You guys are just going slightly overboard on the NDA.. but whatever, as you say, better safe than sorry I guess?
I was in the alpha, remember very clearly that we weren't to mention it D: lol.
Quick edit: where was your thread, on FFXIah.com or somethin? - These forums will be heavily moderated for breaches of NDA whereas external sites... not so much, but people are still careful out there
Alpha site:
As stated in the “FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Tester Agreement,” testers are prohibited from publicizing any proprietary information related to the Alpha Test on external sites. In the event that we confirm that infringement has occurred, your rights to be a tester will be revoked and your FINAL FANTASY XIV account will be suspended.
We will announce if and when Alpha Test-related details can be publicized, so please take great care in their handling until they have been made public. For feedback and discussions between testers, please use the dedicated tester forum, which will open at a later date.
------------------------
As Exn said, whether or not you got an invitation is not a proprietary information. What they mean by proprietary information is any information that they own rights to, that is, any content from alpha. Saying you got an invite, or even if you accept the invite and are playing alpha is not violating the NDA, that's just a rumour.
Here's the /entire/ NDA:

I especially like this part ;)
You're welcome <3Quote:

Confidential Information includes, without limitation, all such information disclosed to Alpha Tester prior to the execution of this Agreement. Alpha Tester acknowledges and agrees that the Confidential Information constitutes valuable trade secrets of Company and (subject to the other terms of this Section 2.6) agrees to keep Confidential all Confidential Information, and only use Confidential Information in connection with Alpha Tester’s participation in the Alpha Test.
oh well back to dota for me! lol no need to stare at an email, if more go out i guess ill check then...
I am heartbroken not to recieve a e-mail, but have never been lucky when it comes to random draws, so i am not suprised at all.
So there's the full NDA. TY so much for clearing that.
SO! you can't say you're an alpha tester, but you can still say you got the mail invite since "This Agreement shall be effective as of the date that the Alpha Tester accepts the terms and conditions of this Agreement." That is, if you do it before you agree to this lol
I'm kinda surprised no one posted a Nozomu Itoshiki "ZETSUBOU SHITA!!" gif yet.
Whoa, looks like I may stand party corrected on this. I was referring to the official XI forums btw, and of course our LS website. I am at work and can't pull that link up, but if you could copy/paste the first part of that (not a-c, but the blurb that is referencing you down to part d. in the first place).
Again tho, you can still say whether or not you recieved an email for invitation (my original point). Though, that line you quoted states you can not mention if you accepted the invitation, if you've already accepted it.
Sure pumpkin! oooone second~
2.6 Alpha Tester’s Confidentiality Obligations “Confidential Information” shall mean (a) any and all information relating to or contained in the Products, Software, Documentation, or other materials supplied to Alpha Tester by Company in connection with the Alpha Testing, including, without limitation, information relating to the performance, conditions, capabilities, and contents of the Products and Software, methods of reporting and conducting, modification schedule, modification process and its progress in the Alpha Testing, AND RECIPIENT’S FEEDBACK, OPINIONS, SUGGESTIONS, AND COMMENTS (POSITIVE AND/OR NEGATIVE) REGARDING THE PRODUCT AND THE SOFTWARE, (b) the existence and the terms of this Agreement, (c) the Square Enix ID and password used by Alpha Tester, or by any other Alpha Tester, (d) THE IDENTITY OF ALPHA TESTER AND THE FACT THAT ALPHA TESTER IS PARTICIPATING IN THE ALPHA TEST, and (e) any and all information relating to the future or proposed products, services, or business operations of Company. (Is that the part you're lookin for? D:, I'm a tad confoozd!)
Another quick edit: There's also this blurb at the top! (Can't remember hide tags @_@ lol)

All applicants are required to have a Square Enix ID prior to submitting their application.

BY SELECTING THE “ACCEPT” BUTTON, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTOOD, AND ACCEPTED THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT.
Anyone who whines about not getting an invite probably wouldn't have been a good tester anyway.
Just throwing that out there.
Yeah thanks, that was most of it, I was trying to see how they used the term "confidential information" but I can see the general gist from that. It's enough to scare most people from even mentioning whether or not they received an invitation, however it does not violate the NDA according to that. Can't blame other people for not wanting to 'risk' it I guess, but in the event I ever get an invite, I'll come let you guys know and be that 'guinea pig' for ya.
P.S. Yo SE you could put it all to rest now and send me an invite .. I come back and post that I got invite.. you do what u do (ignore it cuz it don't violate NDA or ban the hella outta me for violating some part of the NDA that's been overlooked!). I can then post the result of said experiment on one of my alts! LOL It's perfect SE, just trust me on this.
awww :D
Since we don't know whether the emails go out all at once or over time throughout the day, i'm going to hold onto my hope and not get disappointed until i check my email tomorrow morning and have nothing. Though even then i'll get over it and wait for the next batch of emails to go out. :)
