Dances and other emotes in 2.0/ARR

FFXIV has the best dance emotes (and emotes in general). I think the only addition could be idle animations. But Gangnam style? That's a bit random.

There are tons of medieval dances and folk dances to draw on for inspiration. More variety would be nice, but no pop culture.

I must be the only person that would like pop culture dances in XIV. They are hilarious in Guild Wars 2. I mean we already get them somewhat with leve/quest names. So why not.

I think it'd be cool. But the mass has spoken.

I wouldn't mind borrowing from traditional Spainish and Russian dances. Something festive while still retaining a regal flare.

Pop culture dances wouldnt work, they go in and out WAY too fast, but iconic dances.. IE.. the carlton dance is another story.

I vote a huge "NO" to pop culture dances. As others have said, SE can borrow from many of the great extant folk dances or make up some related to the different cultures in Eorzea.

Pop culture dances in fantasy MMOs are kind of funny, sure, but they can be very annoying. When I played WoW, I made a Human female character but deleted her for a number of reasons -- one being that her /dance was the gods-awful Macarena. It was embarrassing. I made a female Dranei instead, which was MUCH better. The /dance for female Dranei? Bellydancing. :D I think something like that would be fine in Eorzea (bear in mind, I may be biased because I am currently taking bellydance classes).

Also, if people really want a funny dance for comic relief, what about having a /sillydance or /funnydance? We'd still have /dance for a race-specific folk dance, and /sillydance could be something fun (NOT pop culture).

I wouldnt mind longer/more dance animations or couple dance animations but unless for a silly event (temporary) never introduce "pop culture" dances.

I see that a lot of you have really good ideas for dance emotes. Culture dances are much less popular, and after reading different opinions I would have to agree. But I do see many of you agree that dances need to be revamped a bit.

Keep the good ideas flowing everyone!
