we should be getting final patch notes soon for the final events >.> i mean 15 days to go
It felt like I got splashed in the face, not swept away in a flood of information.
This seems to be the truth. Only heavy new sales will be for the PS3. Most PC players will be the returning die-hard's and they (we) will get the release for free.
SE has to reclaim some of their entire investment. The investment for 1.0, the free period, the ongoing maintenance and the minor new content we have received. ARR is a bet by SE that PS3 sales will be good.
Probably will, has the benefit that it'll be one of the few console MMOs out ontop of being a Final Fantasy title. As much as people say XIII was "THE WORST FF EVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR"..XIII-2 did pretty damn well and Lightning Saga will do just as well if not better.
We have gotten a pretty good amount of info. You can argue over whether to call it a "flood" or not, but we've hardly been left in the dark.
I would say it was more like a morning shower.
Honestly, I think I know more about what's coming in FFXIV: ARR than any other game I'm waiting for to come out. There is a lot of information out there if you know where to look. Specifically, lodestone, the forums and youtube. The problem is that the flood of information was staggered as it came out and came out in different mediums so it seems smaller than it really is.
We have several 1+ Hr videos showing gameplay and giving info/answering questions. Issue is SE is not consolidating it to 1 spot aka the website they have for it... which is stupid.
Well to be fair, if you are relying purely on lodestone to funnel all of your information regarding ARR then you are probobly missing a lot. While the devs do post a bit here and there regarding questions about upcoming content, the most reliable way to get information about ARR is to research it.
Didn't know story was what determined whether or not a game was good. Because in terms of gameplay X-2 is unmatched, and X was pretty alright despite the lack of the ATB system.
Worst FF is FF8, prove me wrong. I'm derailing this shitty thread. Because it's stupid, and shitty.
details? lol

FFX was awful? Now I heard it all! :O
if we did: Japan probably got alot of info, we got the left overs as usual.
guys, "it's going to be very different" and "please look forward to the juicy contents" <- Flood.

And a shitton more that I can't think of off the top of my head.
It's no flood, sure. But you people are fucking overreacting.
but your statement has little meaning. Biggest doesn't necessarily equal best, but neither does "smallest" or "deepest story" or "best this" or "worst that."
Different people have different reasons for liking different games. This remains true even within a single genre.
There's a reason why Dragon Quest and other mentioned games are "Big." I'm pretty sure it's not because they're terrible and unfun.
And what does this statement mean? I'm saying that just because something is big doesn't make it good. I don't see how that doesn't have any meaning. I'd say it has meaning in a lot of mediums music surely being one of them, movies, televisions and video games but this thread is not about who thinks what is good.
Really? Are we still picking that statement apart? I really wish they'd never have used the word "flood" because apparently it must literally be an actual flood of information to make this forum happy. You must drown all of the users in the amount of information, they must all literally die. If it's not an actual flood it's not good enough. I really hate this place...
I took it to mean "a lot" of info. Did we get "a lot" of info? Entirely subjective and I say yes. I'd say we know "a lot" more about A Realm Reborn than we did before the Summer. We knew very little about the game previously, we had never even seen footage of it. Now we've got a handful of trailers, a good amount of footage from a few different showings, we know far more about the extent of the changes, we even have some decent details on some of the changes.
dudes dropping knowledge bombs right there (not sarcastic)
we learned about fan service stuff:
crystal tower, golden saucer, magitek armor(which was already kinda known but now its definite), Amun fight
learned about general changes:
saw in-game footage of how amazing stuff is, limit break system, gathering/crafting system, tp management centered battle system, monks can chain past 3 ws's unlike other classes, will have plenty of quests to sustain multiple classes from leveling 1-50, will have open world events that also help you level, new dungeons designed for leveling/gearing lowbies, level sync as well as level caps to content, chocobo fighting allies (tank, healer, caster w/ respective gear fits), introducing multiple types of mounts
learned about a new DoM:
arcanist having 2 diff types of carbys
summoner having 4 primal infused pets (not primals themselves)
learned they're adding ninja,musketeer, samuari
just no clear date or which will come first
learned some stuff about music changes which to some is important myself not included but to each their own
learned stuff about the architecture of the engine, another thing that is only important to some
learned that you need 4 people to create a grand company (doesnt matter if you're from diff GC's)
also that you can change your GC multiple times but there is a delay between changing to frequently
was shown where they plan on putting player housing and some actions that can be done to houses
I could keep going but I listed alot already
Ugh not this thread again....anyways i think Yoshi-P would like to show us a lot more but the ppl around him does not like that ..live letters he gets scolded for showing too much..how can you expect a super flood of info besides whats good in knowing everything about the game at this point? months before it comes out? its like showing all the movie on it's trailer...its ridiculous lol and those come out 1 or 2 years before movie is released. I assume we will get info more often when game shuts down then w/o the game to entertain us they will release info to keep us hooked :D
We did not get flood. Black mages only got Burst/Flare/Freeze.
just hope YoshiP got some surprise for 11/11 P.Letter Live :)
Also we got alpha test for those that make it in, and Japan going in first starting end of October so hopefully NA players get in as well but like YoshiP said don't expect too much alpha test is mainly for stress test for the server.
3 updates on the website in 2 months and and 2 of those were mediocre trailers. Hardly even a trickle of information there.
My main gripe is that as part of the "flood", I expected we would get a firm-ish roadmap for all the major features like we did for 1.17-1.23. I was hoping that would include all the new features, including at least the following in no particular order (I am sure I forgot some things):
Free Companies
Chocobo raising
Housing
PvP
Golden Saucer
Crystal Tower
New endgame
Level cap raise
New classes/jobs
Right now it seems only very little of this will be available on release, something I personally think is a mistake if SE want to entice players who have left to come back. I would think waiting for all or most of these things to be in decent shape before release would make a much bigger splash.
Either way, since for most questions regarding features in the release of 2.0 the answer is "We are working hard" or "We have yet to decide on the exact implementation" I think they are struggling simply to port/modify current content. An example is that they apparently only a few weeks ago decided what to do about fishing.
removing spearfishing completely, but no clue of what they plan to add back to replace it. they are also removing all fishing lures and adding in new ones, but no information on how he new fishing system will work. they gave information, but left more questions than we had before about it.
edit: also all spearfishing achievements will no longer be available in arr. there will be new ones for the new offhand gathering for fishing.
oh ok. was gonna flip out if it was really a bad change cause i decided to finish Fishing before 2.0 im at 48 now.
