Great article, thanks for the post, OP :)
Everytime I hear this Prelude I cry because it was the game that brought me into FF 10 years ago <3

Nice read. Thanks for sharing this.
No problem! :)
I thought it was a good article as well, and I'm happy to see the gaming media giving FFXIV some attention. Yoshi-P and company face a long, uphill battle redefining Final Fantasy XIV, and every little step counts.
I hope that when A Realm Reborn finally hits, gaming websites will be willing to give it a completely new review. Not an update to a previous score, but a new review altogether. It may still be called Final Fantasy XIV, but it's a different game, and it deserves a fair shake.

FFVII was the last good Final Fantasy.
Besides that, it was a good article. Thank you, OP.
I love this article. Thanks for sharing it OP!
1up, like Kotaku, is full of non-gaming BS, editorializing-as-news, shameless self promotion, fluff articles, and cheap hype.
Still it's nice to see FFXIV get a plug there --
Oh and,
I think there are more of us out there than you think.
FFXII (Intl Zodiac especially) has a level of craftsmanship unparalleled in any FF (offline) game. Most people tend to look back and remember the sentimental scenes in games (FFX, FFVII, etc) but FFXII took itself much more seriously than other FF games. It had a complex story that dealt with the intricacies of world politics, existence, destiny, loss and duty/responsibility.
Not only that, but it is one of the most visually engrossing games I've ever played.
I'm hoping for a HD re-release sooner rather than later.
Not bad at all!
"As a White Mage, Rykku teleports us to a place called Camp Bloodshore."
nice. if only.
I'm kind of new to FF Series, back then I was around 6-8 when I saw my brother played FFX, I tried it and I got addicted xD.
I backtracked to FFVII, then IX. Done III and IV in NDS, XII, XIII, XIII-2. Tried I, II, V, VI, VIII but didn't / couldn't complete it since I was borrowing some of them. Atm at XIV, but also played some lesser-titles like FF Type-0s, Crisis Core, etc.
I'd love to Complete all the FF I couldn't, but I wouldn't know how xD Since you mentioned it, I think I'll try looking for a way :p
I remembered all the fun I had when I came back from school and the first thing I do was play FFX xD I really liked it, especially since I was a kid back then it was like a Box full of Wondrous things !
Very well written article, will share with others
Haha yea maybe I should have been like "Oh btw anyone can tele I just prefer WHM.", but I just wanted to hurry up and show him that little event where the wandering minstrel lol. I'm just glad it turned out well. Seems like its getting some ppl interested in playing again which is what I wanted lol ^_^
...why would you need to jump over a pebble?

The amount I would pay for a translated version of the International Zodiac Job System...
what? who do i talk to to see this?Quote:
As a White Mage, Rykku teleports us to a place called Camp Bloodshore. She then changes jobs to Bard and grants us Swiftsong for faster movement. After that it's a quick jaunt to an NPC who puts us in jail after we profess to believe in the words of the Wandering Minstrel. In prison we meet said Wandering Minstrel himself, who looks suspiciously like Naoki Yoshida. The character offers us encouraging words about the arrival of Meteor and the rebirth to come -- and then we are spirited away back to Limsa Lominsa. It's a nice personal touch from the man in charge.
Good read definitly pretty positive about ARR.
Nael goes totally batshit crazy, in fact he goes totally batshit crazy and walks into a field of flames, the image is shown in the article, and it is a heavy handed allusion to the exact scene in FFVII where Sephiroth goes batshit. While I don't agree with nonsense about the series going down hill since 7, the game itself was great, there's really no disputing that, and Sephiroth was a good villain. The expanded universe content has just driven a lot of that into the ground.
Regardless, your opinion on whether or not the game was good or bad doesn't affect whether or not the developers are alluding to the game.
Regardless, the legati's outfits are an obvious nod to Yoshida's own work on the Judges of XII, but if anything the character has many more shades of Sephiroth, and perhaps if anyone from XII, Vayne and Cid. (What with the talking to himself and seeking to "destroy gods.") But there are obvious allusions to Sephiroth that were more than intentional, after all he is calling down Meteor, it's not that hard to wrap one's head around.
Have is a strong word. You can beat FFXII without farming, I was able to beat the game in the mid 30s, and never did anything resembling farming other than stealing from certain enemies as I passed through an area.
Of course if you want to beat all the additional content, farming particular enemies is probably the fastest way to prepare yourself, but how is this different than any other RPG?
And we all love you for it, when people see how Yoshida likes to sneak easter eggs in like this it may pull more people in, I have seen this article posted on twitter a few times, and with other social networking sites you may have really helped the game, and we all appreciate what you and the other guy did.
I'm glad Yoshi-P is getting the credit he deserves.
