Well you would think that if the Smn had Carbuncle out it would not be able to use it's other summons. So I do not really see how it could be overpowered if that was the case.

Having Summoner completely incapable of using Carbuncle would make me sad, here's hoping it is just mixed info/translation.

It also makes me have unwanted crap in my inventory. At the most I'd get through it and simply avoid going back to said content when possible. Unlike now, where if a group needs an extra body to fill the party, I'll join on a whim and help out.

I can understand struggling at the level cap to clear content. I myself wiped on Nael half a dozen times before I defeated him. And because it's content at the level cap, wiping to him is reasonable if I were to help someone with it. Wiping on Garuda hard mode is reasonable for the same reason.

Wiping in Shposhae or Totorak isn't.

PS: Don't bring CoP into this, please. Not everyone lauds it as the best expansion to ever hit an MMORPG.

As i've said in another thread, here I am hoping that Summoner's abilities are actually modifying the Carbuncle "ability" since it says 'pet infused with the power of the elementals'. To me it seems it alters Carbuncle, so in summoner mode it's base form is not used, but it's altered form is!

Since the whole point of tp being full is apparently to match with mages and mp I hope mages get full mp at start of battles, or a much better way for mages to refresh mo because otherwise melee classes severely outclass mages in general battle where fights are quick.

You already do get MP at the start of battles, it regenerates when not in combat just like we've seen TP do in the videos. It's not like you automatically just get 1k TP when you start each battle, it regenerates when out of combat.

Well hopefully it'll be the same speed relative to the pool. mp regen is pretty slow if you are chaining mobs

Edit: Apparently Arcell says TP users no longer gain TP on hit (as seen from 2.0 gameplay footage)- this changes some of what I have said below. (Now my only thought is about melee to mage is that melee can have a better burst of dps - but so long as their overall dps is less then a mages I'm happy I guess (mages need more dps because they have less survival-ability))

I am with Eruantien. If every melee class starts at full tp and can regenerate tp on hit, melee will become very competitive in damage compared to mages (because melee weapon skills are actually not that bad in damage). I hope there is some sort of counter measure to keep DD mages in that ideal comparative roll of glass cannons - or compensate and give them a lot more sustainability.

Competitive because melee can keep a good flow of tp, while a mage will hit 0 mp and be screwed specially a THM/BLM whom get shafted on the awesome mp restores that WHM has.
Convert is not as cool as the Red Mages in FFXI because you cant stoneskin/phalanx yourself to live, (BLM = PGL/THM) and the fights that you are using convert in will probably have a lot of aoes - so unless you are in LS team speak for fast teamwork it becomes less useful (still useful, just much less).

Talking about mage damage, its sad the WHM can out damage a BLM on certain mob types with their elemental stones and aeroes - it feels very out of place for a FF game (except for holy magic of course).The damage problem is exasperated by the fact that WHM can keep their mp up longer. Perhaps adding a damage spell mp cost reduction passive to BLM would help - preserve mp 20% or something (I don't know, physically testing is the best way to know for sure - worry about this SE I don't want to see DD WHM groups like I have already lol its like Paladin getting replaced by a Ninja as tank...). Whm DD works best when you get the gear for it, so if you are comparing your curing gear to a BLM DD gear please dont tell me "I crazy talking" lol - go DD outfit yourself and fight some gnats or something, you will make the BLM QQ by 100's of points of damage (On monsters with elemental weakness to stone or aero great damage - you will do decent damage on others but anything weak to BLM lightning they will own you on - but that's just one element).

They don't regen TP on hit anymore. You can see in the videos we've seen of 2.0 so far that it regens over time at a set rate even in battle.

Tifa as inspiration for what are most likely MNK moves? Boo.

I wanted Sabin attacks dammit. They could have at least used Zell who's like Tifa 2.0 in terms of attacks.

Well, to be fair back before the game even came out Tanaka & Komoto had stated we'd be getting new classes in updates instead of expansion packs. Yoshi P clearly hasn't forgotten this thankfully (one of the few really nice ideas T&K had for the game but never materialized).

Oh crap, I totally just realized - SAM is going to work so much better under this new system. Assuming they try for the WS-styled version of XI (with some differences obviously - carbon copies are dull) the removal of recasts is going to be a blessing. I can only imagine how annoying it would be trying to play as a SAM in the current version of the game >.<

They're going to have to be reeeeeeally careful with NIN though. Utsusemi + No recast time = GG no RE.

The confirmation that Arcanist is coming means Musketeer can't be too far behind. I literally cannot wait. Who else wants to get in this time machine with me?

It's fairly likely that it will, for a time, add to the TP gained per tick. I imagine Store TP would work the same, just permanently.

On a different note though, if the translation is correct and Carbuncle is something that only Arcanist can use then that might mean that classes and their related jobs will be more different than they are now. Right now jobs inherit a great deal of skills from the classes and they always get all of the class skills. Summoner not being able to use Carbuncle may mean that it does not gain all of the skills that Arcanist has access to and if that's true then it's quite possible that classes and jobs in 2.0 will have completely different sets of skills and abilities.

Of course this is all speculation but it seems like a potential possibility.

Yeah I hate that type of questing. It does not feel like a quest at all but it just makes it feel like every quest is the same. Always blah blah happened get me X amount of this item. I always skip through them and try to just hurry up and do the quest...haaaaaate it!!! ><

Aion did that =X FFXI quests on the other hand are OK...they were very involved and required a lot of unique work...if they are like that I won't mind :)

This was pretty much my reaction too. I can name at least a few major roles for nearly all of these names.

There's some of my favorite voice actors on this list. Nakamura Yuuichi and Endo Aya (Alto and Sheryl, aaah!), Toriumi Kousuke, Okamoto Nobuhiko... if this is true my LS is going to be subjected to me screeching at pretty much every voiced cutscene. Just needs Fukuyama Jun and I could practically die happy.

That's what I was thinking when I saw the list! Going down it, all the names, but then I saw Emiri Katou. If she does her Kagami voice for this, I'm done. 2.0: Best Game Ever. Of all time.

Hanabira: I remember offhand that there won't be a large amount of VA, as in, every single thing. The main storylines will be voiced, and that's basically it.
So presume anything voiced will be important.

I think the damage increase to melee will balance out the safety at range casters/archers have. Now as far as how balanced archers will be with the new TP system, that is yet to be seen.

It's not like NIN is REQUIRED to have Utsusemi. Even if they do give it to them, they can be smart about it and not allow it to take abilities from GLA or MRD to keep it from being a tank.
