No, I don't play any games on my phone.
I don't plan to, but I hope both teams interact and learn from each other so that both games can be the best it can be.
Nope, not interested in a mobile MMO.
Only mobile games i play are gacha games where i don't have to interact with other people unless needed too. like Brave Frontier onlything you did to meet someone was send them a friend request, to use thier unit to the most potential
No, they shouldn’t be free and F2P model needs some sort of monetisation - no issue there. My issue with Mobile is, that when we look at the big picture with FF XIV being the franchise on which Mobile is based, a standalone mobile game that doesn’t bring anything of value to the player base of “retail” FF XIV is a wasted opportunity that exists solely for the purpose of milking the cow without any added value or enrichment of player experience.
I would love for Mobile to be something that is connected to “retail”. It could easily feature mini games that don’t make sense in desktop / console version of the game. Gold Saucer is one area of desktop / console version that could be creatively expanded through Mobile. Another idea that comes to mind is having an opportunity to chat with my FC mates on mobile when I don’t have access to desktop. There’s also countless systems in the “retail” that are completely overlooked today - Grand Company Squadrons (I’m not even sure if I remember its name correctly, that’s how abandoned it is), in game toy box, Mahjong, Triple Triad, Verminion… all of these systems and many more could be accessible through Mobile and they would actually bring some degree of usefulness and purpose to the whole idea of Mobile.
When I take it to extreme, I see more value in paying for a cash shop item (glam, Fantasia etc.) than in paying for an unlock of a system in a mobile game, that is just a replay of ARR on a smaller screen, because a purchase made in the current cash shop gives me something that I can use in the desktop version of the game while with Mobile, I’m essentially paying for a New Game + on a mobile screen.
The fact that the two games are disconnected from each other is the problem, not monetisation. I’d be happy to pay even a higher sub if FF XIV mobile was an extension of my desktop experience. There’s so many ways SE could’ve done this right, but they went for a lazy cash grab, that’s my biggest problem.
Nope never have played any mobile MMO and have no plans to.
It makes sense they aren't connected though, they aren't being run by the same company. FFXIV is run and developed by Square Enix and FFXIV Mobile is run and developed by Lightspeed. I would be very displeased indeed if SE shared account info with Lightspeed in order to connect the two.
My custom 22 watt profile with custom fan curves actually runs really cool and goes no more than 75 degrees tops during heavy gaming. While you're right about 45 FPS but I got used to it since I play it docked on my TV mostly. I do have a desktop with an aging i9 9900k w/EVGA CLC 360mm AIO, ASUS Maximus Hero XI BLOPS4 mobo, G.Skill 32GB DDR4 3800 CL14, MSI RTX 3090 Gaming X Trio, EVGA SuperNOVA 1000W gold rated PSU. My desktop uses over 600 watts during heavy gaming while my Ally Z1E uses no more than 35 watts as electricity is really expensive where I live at. So I use my desktop no more than 4 times a month and my power bill has significantly lowered since my Ally Z1E became my main gaming rig. If the cost of electricity was like where I used to live, then I would use my desktop fully and game at 4k on my TV and use my Ally Z1E when I'm away from my desktop/TV. I can lower the settings and get over 80 FPS at 720p but it looks too fuzzy on my TV (55 inch 120 hz 4k Samsung QLED TV). It's also really easy to open the rear panel to clean with a can of compressed air for cleaning PC's, you just remove six screws and then clean it.
While this is true, the problem is that we are dealing with Tencent and SE, so the lessons learned will be: tencent will learn they don't really need to put that much into the mobile version because some ppl will support them no matter what and SE will learn about all the new stuff they could put on the mogstation instead of in the game.
The chance of either of them learning lessons that will benefit us and not them is ridiculously small. But I hope they prove me wrong
No, !@#$ No!
I dont play mobile games
Absolutely not.
I already bought a mobile phone which can support FF XIV and Destiny Rising. Both being F2P and having separated UI and content makes it very interesting for me. Also I've seen they put savage fights in the mobile version so Im even more curious. Being able to grind starting from scratch in a new mmorpg environment is also exciting. Seeing what Mr.Happy says about the game, aparently its not super predatory so that's nice.
From reading translated tooltips job design is honestly about the same, if not a bit more interesting in the mobile version lol. I'd rather play that than every job having 30 buttons with no interesting effects or interplay.
I think mobile FFXIV caters more to people who would want to try it but are unable to play on PC, because I don't think there is enough incentive for people to switch from PC to mobile port at this moment.
I don’t understand why people would want to play FFXIV on a phone screen. Will you even see anything? I tried to minimize my HUD as much as possible and still 30% of my computer screen is taken by stuff I need to monitor or have at hand. Buffs and debuffs for example.
Why are the devs putting resources in a mobile version when theres so many things to fix in the pc game? Now they are gonna have to maintain both versions and they will have new excuses to slack.
Also I can’t stand the concept of mobile-exclusive items or hairstyles…
Still hope they keep crunking on the main game with better systems. Imagine being crapped on by a phone version of your own MMO.
I'm not really interested in it. Might try it since I'll have my new phone then but doubt I'll play much. I can't imagine it will be comfortable trying to play on a phone screen.
I initially tried it out to see (and unfortunately confirm to myself) how the mobile team somehow did a better job at graphically upgrading player faces than FFXIV's own team, but I also found that I really, really didn't like the controls for it and trying to play it on a phone. So no.
Yes. As soon as the controller update comes (which is planned for the early patches), I may just switch.
It really comes down to how evil the final take on monetization is.
I don't play any type of mobile games. Been better if they used those funds on this game and not another game that will most likely flop.
Honestly, FFXIV mobile sounds like hell, like being forced to play on my phone's touchscreen and stuck in ARR with only a few races from the base game.
Also, having to pay a fee to use the MB in 2025.
Nah, I'm good, Royal Kingdom is my bathroom / waiting room game. (Thanks for the recommendation LeBron!)
No. No I will not be playing the mobile version.
Sounds way too boring. Only positive thing is that they fixed many things that are present here but otherwise there's no incentive to even try this. This is just cashgrab for Asia server.
