Yeah. One of the worst examples on that regard is trying to open your inventory midway through a vendor menu to try to sell/delete something to make space. You can't...
I'm afraid that if they don't improve their netcode infrastructure, XIV will never be able to handle well a "true" pet job (which means micromanagement, etc).
I'm curious how BST will deal with this. Most likely it will either just not care about the clunky responsivity or it will be fake, as in only animation based.
The largest problem with pet management, as far as I recall, was simply update rate arbitrarily given to pets (main reason for the ghosting and cast-progress waste) and the queuing system as a whole -- the latter of which was admittedly less intrusive in ARR/HW, as you could then give pet commands even mid-animation, whereas the "improvements" made since prevented that, causing it to function more like an oGCD instead of something with truly no lock-outs.
(The actual near-"global" cooldown is the animation lock, which prevents use of any further action typically within 0.5s + roundtrip ping of the one before -- with some actions applying even longer animation locks [Potions, Stardiver] and some following actions feeling locked out longer because they're unable to queue and therefore susceptible to delay by human error, too [Sprint and Potions, both]. The "GCD" is just the further shared Spell/Weaponskill ICD. Pet commands were previously only thing other than target selection and movement, etc. to ignore both.)
I have a feeling it will be something along the lines of blue mages. Collecting pet animations for a singular spell. I would be surprised if they even let us get a "glam" option of having the pet out with you at all times. But with their limited talents as devs, I'd take it. I don't really consider them talented enough to be hyped about much anymore lol
Storywise, I just want another Shadowbringers. Well plotted and executed, character-focused and enthralling. Give the Scions things to do that suit their characters and help them achieve growth.
Otherwise, my list:
- character bonding quests where you can help the characters with their troubles and feel like a closer friend to them
- better alt support, like having alts be on your friend list and housing tenant list automatically
- glamour system updates, more plates and space in the chest (or better yet, a complete overhaul that lets you glam any piece you've ever obtained)
- cross-DC duty finder / party finder
- make the company workshop accessible outside of housing (for a large gil cost, of course)
- the ability to form alliances outside of party finder
That's just off the top of my head, I probably have more I just haven't thought of. Most of these are just dreams, but one can hope...
I want a story as good as clair obscur expedition 33. Is that too much to ask for?
Or at least, I don't want a story as preaching as EW is.
Would be nice if ff14 Picto have art deco motifs and aesthetic instead of cartoonish ones like we currently have.... Personally speaking of course.
8.0 pls give us ability to summon vaguely Nevron shaped creature.
(I mean, like SMN, PCT should be the closest job to creation magic anyway)
In an ideal world, a job like Pictomancer would have a dedicated menu, like BRD's Performance, called "Art Styles" or something like that, where you could collect and customize the Motifs' appearances.
Maybe one would swap them to Far Eastern black ink style? Or more art deco, Ishgardian maybe?
I'm picturing what a Far Eastern Madeen could be, something fierce like a edo-style illustration instead of a cartoon.
Could even be some sort of collectible unlocks.
That would be cool indeed. Imagine if we have optional side quest on each region to unlock those art styles. For examples, eorzea unlocks the default art style. Ishgard is art nouveau, Far eastern is East Asia style, ala mhigo for middle east, Crystarium/Amaurot for art deco, and so on.
(Obviously there will be generalization, but better than nothing imo)
The only downside is the art team has to produce multiple Motifs in different art styles, but I believe they can do it.
- I wish for alt friendlyness! I would love to have (or buy) even more slots per server. I am not a fan of playing multiple classes with one char, so many classes remain untouched...
Give us an account bank so alts can exchange stuff without the help of other players or the guild bank.
At least make it possible for alts to friendlist/email each other.
This game is mostly great and we have tons of races and classes but the game limits us to actually use them. Please change this.
- I'd like to have a crafting mat bank. Even better if everything you gather jumps right there. Even far better if this is shared between all alts. The market would benefit of such a system as well.
Fix Healers.
-Remove glamour restrictions, let people glamour the way they want. There are many NPCs who wear armor mixed and matched from different jobs so the Warrior of Light should be able to as well!
In order to clear up any potential misunderstandings if these get translated to Japanese. By "Artifact Job Gear" the commenters in this thread mean only the gear that is given to you at the end of every job quest. All other gear must remain unrestricted, Including all other combat gear. Artifact job gear is the only gear that I would be okay with being remained restricted. This is my #1 complaint about the game atm. The contradiction that the NPCs can dress in ways that the WOL cannot is driving me crazy.
Second, the Square Enix financial department needs to grant more funding to FFXIV and redirect resources and manpower back to the game in general. This game shouldn't have to run into cost issues when it's providing most of Square Enix's profits.
Aside from that
-Increased focus on zone design, and interior areas that can be entered in the open world.
-Renewed focus on MSQ
-Job rework / fix healers
-More voice acted scenes
-More solo duties
-Give Riol some love why don'tcha?
-Just character customization stuff.
-The ability to customize the appearance of abilities, kind of like how you can do with egis would be cool! Don't know if it's possible but it seems many here including myself would like that.
-Increased communication and interaction with community managers and Yoshi P.
Also, instead of retiring things if they're negatively received, such as with what happened with field explorations when Bozja was criticized back in Shadowbringers, or removing from the story characters that were negatively received in msq. Use the criticism to make them better! Don't just throw them away! Because for as many detractors as there are of these things, there are also many fans. You've already shown yourself capable of this, like as raids have been improved since Binding Coils, and Alphinaud, who was generally hated back in ARR, was improved and underwent excellent character development based on his criticism and now he's a fan favorite.
Please revive the old PvP gears/mounts for us that miss out.
-no glamour or gender restrictions for obtainable equipment its time to stop pretending whats appropriate or lore friendly an just let people wear whatever they please as long as they have the piece of equipment.
-overhaul the open world make it more alive, more vast, more immersive an give us alot more to explore an do.
-make questing fun, spice it up with some minigames, add more variancy, let us have more epic battles like the zenos fight, or the naadam battle.
-instance based homes for solo players no more wards, no more districts, just let everyone own a plot which can have any size of house they want as long as they have the gil required to build it or purchase materials from the market board etc. make it a living biome which the player can control the environment to change weather effects
-stop repeating content start adding new gameplay into the game criterion/varient dungeons are a step in the right direction, as is crystal conflict(albeit its not my slice of bread or cup of tea personally) keep trying new ideas its worth the risk an provides a fresh perspective an new gameplay element for people to do.
I have just two simple requests
1. Make an alternate version of blue mage for normal content. After all if we can have pvp and pve versions of the same job that are similar but different, why can't we have carnival-pve and normal-pve versions of blue mage?
2. Same thing for making a non-limited version of beastmaster, after all it shouldn't be hard to necromancy and blend all the various old versions of Summoner into something resembling a non-limited beastmaster.
I would like to see some love to pre lvl 70 crafting. I miss the guilds and stories. I wish for more crafting guilds (or something new to replace that) related stuff in 8.0!
Wishlist for 8.0:
Square Enix goes bankrupt and releases source code from 2015 because of Stop Killing Game and someone makes a HW private server so I can finally experience peak one last time
Hard agree. I love the switching between summon teams. It could be astral/umbral, it could be between the set we have now and the set we don't have. I think it would be cool to see it set up to rotate in between the summon types - so Ifrit-Titan-Garuda to Bahamut ; Leviathan-Ramuh-Shiva to Phoenix.
We already have the Leviathan blue color model with the new plain "Carbuncle" we got in 6.0, the deeper blue color version we got, so that could be named "Sapphire" or maybe "Lapis" Carbuncle. And we have "Diamond Carbuncle" as the giant quest one, which we could use shrunken down for Shiva. All we'd need is to add an purple one named "Amethyst" or "Iolite" Carbuncle.
(My pie in the sky idea is we could maybe have a proper true green-colored like the green aether currents or green Garuda carbuncle as an option we could use to color over our blue-green so-called 'Emerald' Carbuncle, just as an option! Using a different name! I know Peridot is the mini-summon, so maybe we could use Beryl, or Malachite, or Jade, or Turquoise.)
I love this because then I could finally set myself up living in Ala Mhigo.
I want Ala Mhigo, but if I can't have there, I want Sharlayan. Even if they're all touchy about outsiders. Maybe they have an island they abandoned after a research experiment gone wrong that they're willing to quarantine adventurers off on after we clean out the monsters.
As long as it's all DoW, M, L, H, and limited, yep.
I love the idea of them adding a new clan for each race if they won't add new races, which would have new options for tattoos and skin tones and horns and scales and other types of modifications.
I'm with you on all of this. What I liked about the beginning half of Dawntrail before Alexandria and the twist with Zoraal Ja's army was that it was exploring a new place and it was about something that was important to the local region but not critical to the entire star. It let us get to know new people and bond with existing friends, and learn about new places. I crave more of that level of storytelling.
So I'd love to have 8.0 be a "return to places we've been and tell new stories there" expansion. Like you said, let's uncover more of Ilsabard and remove those clouds. Let's check out Corvos, which we've heard so much about. Let's see other areas on Ilsabard we've heard about - Dalmasca is there, and Garlemald ran over some other un-named nations, yes? There are more areas of Othard that we haven't touched yet in-game like Nagxia, and there's Hingashi. Let's actually get to go inside Ala Mhigo, the city proper, and have it as a Real Hub City we can enter that's restored now. We could go find the Roegadyn homeland of Aerslant. We could easily get new 6 areas from this.
Yes to having an extra job quest at the max level, I'd like a chance to just catch up one more time with those NPCs!
Oh be still my beating heart!
You had me at Remove flying.
Thank gods there someone else in this game who thinks like this. agree with everything else.
An additional/only alternative to removing flight, would be to increase the map scaling so that crossing a zone takes considerable time even while in flight. (i.e. maps can currently be crossed in about 1 minute. increase map scales to 7 or 8 times so that flight takes 5-10minutes)
Screw more glam slots, overhaul the entire glamour system to make it a catalogue with appearances you learn just by obtaining the gear. WoW did it.
That's #1 on my list of hopium.
As constructive as many of us are, the responses we're primarily getting (or lack thereof) from the FFXIV team (and consequently SquareEnix in general) is what ruffles the feathers of the playerbase.
SquareEnix: "We hear you and we are delighted to announce that we are going to ignore all of your requests in lieu of our own decision making. Please stay subscribed. Thank you for playing our game; things will only improve at 8.0, in our humble opinion" has been the message we've gotten for quite some time over a wide variety of sub-categories that this game makes up, be it fashion or quality-of-life updates, non-MSQ activities, games or Job design. Be that as it may, there are a lot of good suggestions that have been brought forth by the community and you may expect to get some of them five to ten years from now, if at all.
To add to the list, I would like to get a Gold Saucer 2.0 and update the old location or reconstruct a new theme park for the Living Memory so that we can go there and spend some time having fun.
To elaborate a little, I really, really think they should focus more on expanding and improving evergreen content. As in, stuff that you can interact with no matter the expansion. Housing and glamour are the two that come to mind, there's probably more that I'm not just thinking of at the moment. Give players stuff to do in the lull between main story/PvE content.
I would LOVE to be able to sift through appearances and put together cool outfits and then farm for those appearances in my free time but sadly the current system just makes that way harder than it needs to be.
Exploration mode on raids! More persistent emotes eg: /tea should be persistent and /eat too.
No more wuk lamat- write her out please and ty, make it like lyse, barely seen.
Instanced housing? - GW2 has a really nice system, we could learn from it.
Less button bloat
can't think of much more right now, but i'll probably add more later
1: Job balance needs to be looked at. Tanks have all the cards while healer have few of them.
2: Add unique mechanics to jobs (feels like most job mechanics can be summarized by "this is a spend gauge" or "this is a stamp book") and give them more layers of difficulty. Remove 2 min meta (I think this makes job design safe, but is contributing to uniform job design and inflexibility when it comes to branching out from it).
3: New questing mechanics. 7.3 was a clear starting point with adding puzzles you need to solve. Decent chunk of Dawntrail's story failure is honestly lack of a good vehicle for telling the leadership contest plot. Too much filler of going from A to B to look at dialogue and not enough genuinely interacting with the world.
4: In addition to the above, we need some adjustments to how Duty Trusts feature in the story. We keep dragging around over half the Scions just to fill Trust slots. This mechanic, as it's currently being handled, is holding the narrative structure hostage.
5: New Gold Saucer activities, new in-city activities to add more life to big settlements.
6: I would like to see new jobs be part of job guilds in the new cities. Please. We don't need to keep littering the starter cities with the new jobs.
7: Make backpacks usable in instanced content, then continue expanding the options the same way eyewear have been receiving new options (this was a great addition!!!).
8: Remove job restrictions on glamming gear. FREE THE MEANS OF GLAMMING, REVOLUTION FOR GLAMS!
9: Look into having/adding puzzle mechanics (or just ANYTHING distinctly different from norm) to bosses so that we can have fights that play differently than DDR. I don't mind bosses where I need to dance across the screen constantly, but we should get some vastly different fights too so we can maintain a healthy variety.
10: More weird arena shapes for bosses. Granted, we've actually gotten some during DT's lifespan so that's already a good thing.
ANYTHING other than more Wuk Lamat/hello kitty smile song insulting my intelligence.
So here is the list of 10 things they need to change for me to return in 8.0:
Thanks for listening.
