Yes, thats something i agree on. I mean FFXIV isnt enough to bring the PS5 to hits limits but the PS4 is a different issue and so they should really stop the support

The console players poisoned our water supply, burned our crops, and delivered a plague on to our houses.
Look at BG3 as well, they did crossplay + mods. The only thing worth mentioning is that, because of the lack of Script Extender, the mods that can function on Consoles are much more limited, but you can still have a lot of awesome mods.
Also, I find it very annoying when people associate mods with cheating by default when the vast majority of mods have nothing to do with cheating but are more oriented towards QOL and customization of your own character.
Imagine having a mod that offers additional dyes, or specific clothes/fashion with additional dye channel enabled/reworked, or slightly modified to better work with other pieces, or to show hair style/ ears better.
As for making a new MMO, and to address the original poster, no. They can still salvage this game. They do have a solid base and starting point, but years of neglect is starting to show.
I can vouch that yes there are mods on console. There are limitations as too what mods make it onto console. There are ENB's that are just too resource intensive for a console but that's understandable. There are plenty of other ways to enhance game outside of graphical fidelity.
mmorpgs tend to take 8 to 10 years to make. Better to fix what exists.
I am happy with FFXIV, although I did think Dawntrail was pretty weak. I would like to see Yoshi-P drop some of his side projects and focus primarily on XIV. I also think they need to drop PS4 support as soon as possible.
100% agree. YoshyP and the team are out of touch...
No.
I think people are kidding themselves if they believe that going forward we'll see any major MMO released that isn't P2W and/or heavy on microtransactions. FFXIV is probably the last of the subscription-based MMOs. It's still going strong and (thankfully) Square Enix hasn't gotten greedy with it to the extent that most modern MMO developers are. Shutting down FFXIV and banking on a new MMO would be a disaster for the MMO community.
Your typical modern MMO has the same problems FFXIV has, with the addition of far less content, multiple paid battle-passes, bi-monthly GATCHA-box releases, built around a pay-for-power structure with 99% of it's cosmetics locked behind an overpriced cash-shop, and a constant demand for your time with nonstop FOMO events. And you're lucky if you can get 10 people in the same area without the game rolling over and dying.
You all are standing in a green field looking outward for better pasture when nearly everything out there is a ghastly swamp, and it's going to get a lot worse before it ever gets better.
Honestly, they should but they won't. They need an engine that will allow them to do what players ask for because this archaic PoS they're running on isn't cutting it. Seriously, I don't think we'll ever see them innovate on things like FATEs, open world, exploration zones, etc. because they literally can't and as much as I hate their copout of "But the code doesn't allow it", they're right. They also need a team that's willing to take chances and we all know that will also never happen. The biggest problem though is SE, the only thing that's going to get them to wake up is the threat of bankruptcy.
if they do I will not be wasting my time with a other FF MMO because the same community will be there so no thanks
