If you think the core loop or job design philosophy is going to change, you're in for a rude awakening.
Most people should have realised this by 7.0 that nothing is changing, they even stated they weren't going to simplify more jobs despite Black mage and all the changes in 7.0 to further build upon endwalkers simplification, so even when they say 8.0 will have job reworks we should remain doubtful.
As much as people are holding out hope for 8.0 everyone should keep expectations very low.
A diverse and uniqueness of jobs are welcome, but I think they should remain the in their role. Like 4 tanks would stay tank with different play styles, as with 4 healers and those DPS.
Talent tree or perk that change the basic role like WOW or SWTOR will be a big no for me at least at the current status of game and the track records of the job balancing team
If it means I can be a melee healer then that would be great for me I'm sick of healers being mages and mages only.
Though If they choose to stagnate I much rather they just try things instead of being scared, hence I rather they do cool and interesting stuff instead of keeping this design
The main issue with Eureka in the beginning was that they hinted it would be a FFXI experience. Problem is that it's more like someone talking about FFXI and someone else trying to program it, only listening to the bullet points.
So it was grindy because FFXI was grindy, but XIV's combat system is not really made to be chaining monsters en masse with how often you press buttons. XI's combat system was engaging auto attacks untill you got enough TP, then did a weapon skill, perhaps coodinating with the party for chain skills and magic bursts. And since ou didn't press a lot of buttons, you actually had time to chat in combat.
And the dangerous world, XI always had a rabbit that could kill you, but monster placement was mostly well laid out. In Eureka they just dropped a clump of monsters in an area.
In XI, all monsters had an elemental alignment, so fish and crabs were water based, resisted water and fire, and were weak to lightning. Since XIV couldn't really do actual resistances for monsters, we just got the elemental wheel.
Players quickly picked up that fate trains were the way to level, and it also gave the crystals for weapon upgrades. And then they released Pagos where the pop chance was much worse than Anemos, slowing it all down a lot.
I mean, I'm out after the FFXI raids are done unless I see some significant changes, or at the very least something more tangible than that "please look forward to it" crap. This entire expansion has felt like a cheap knockoff of previous expansions with the story. While the dungeons and fights have been way better, battling is still so thoughtless and boring that I struggle to even stay awake if I play after a work day. Also, 6 years waiting for hats or the promised hairstyles on viera/hroth to make up for no hats is so freaking dumb. I have shit I paid for pre-viera that I still can't use because they can't be bothered. They dropped the ball and released them in that state but still want our money but don't want to do the work, don't really care what their excuses are at this point. I have zero faith in them as developers. And yeah, until the FFXI raids are done, I'll remain here complaining about it because you can't access the forums if you aren't subbed and they don't give you exit interviews when you leave so this is the only way I can say how I feel about the current state of the game.
I agree.
Truth is. I really still belive if it seeds one other person to come up with one better articulated idea, that becomes an improvement it will be worth it.
I also think either this game success in once again 'fostering' a nice community or it's not worth saving.
It has to change. Not the people who play it.
It is NOT the game it used to be. (Reasons complex)
I've got not a lot positive to say though. I do the of occasion it happens. The ladies day event was great to improved. The telling of the raid story is decent.
Variant dungeons was brave and imaginative.
But yeah... uhh I do like the sound of my own voice. I do like complaining. And if none is listening... that detrimentally affects no one. It's just a game. And this is just a forum for just a game.
I don't like seeing people being personally attacked for attacking a bunch of code they are paying customers for.
And I do not like seeing add-ons change game.
The worst change is CB3 have become lazy because add-ons prop do much of it up. Worst is their influence on MarketBoard.
If people tomorrow lost all their add-ons permanently they'd leave for good.
I'm addicted to to the sound of my own whining voice. 60% of eorzeons game time is addicted to it's add-ons.
I don't like m5-8 as much as 1-4. Not nearly.
But I think they are better raids for people other than me. You can really see M8 in particular stretch out if people are not doing their DPS.
I don't like EX4 much at all. I din't know why.
But I think the early small DPS check is a great idea
I think the early DPS check in Ex3, making the final DPS check redundant, was also a great idea.
Not fixes to any of the games biggest problems.
Privacy. PF travel population decimation. The have add-ons Vs have-nots-add-ons. The Gil rich raiding community pulling the ladder up after themselves. Submarine farmers.
I'm a very "play by the rules" person . And I'm being fckd for it.
Includes I never prog lie.
If I'm even having a bad day, I leave because 'today I'm not up to my usual prog point' which matters. I'm pretty confident I'm exceptionally self depricating. But I dint know how else to be. And then I get slagged of for not clearing in 2-3 hours.
The Problem is... even if 8.0 would introduce some major changes, they still have to work with all the content they right now are putting out wich are the reason why they were dumbed down in the first place. And for all I know how Japanese Companys think they will never admit that there leadership has made a bad decision so it is to be expected that we will continiu on the path we are currently are. More Sci-Fi elements who makes every new player wonder why are there Space Suits and Selfie Smartphones in my Fantasy game. And don´t get me started on the embaresment which are side quests, Go here talk with them you done go do it 1000 times more.
Every Class that is more complicated then pushin 1-2-3 can expect a rework in the near future and that is if we are lucky and all jobs are not replaced with the Warrior of Light Job The Tanky self Healing DPS, because by the death in which our choosen jobs interakt with the game world it really would not matter narretivly to remove them all.
I know what I am saying sound extreamly jaded and that is because I am, Over the expansion I saw less and less of what I originaly enjoyed about Dungeons and with recent patches I see that the Devs do not gif a care for Jobs also... all in order to funnel down all player into savage and ultimate content, the easyest and cheapest content to mass produce.
I have 25 Days left in this game and will spend my time complaining because after 7300 Hours in this game I see now that the devs do not want my kind of players and so I am ready to leave voicing my discontent.
And for anyone who is still in the complaining phase... Please, Respect yourself enough to walk away from anything that no longer serves you, grows you or makes you happy.
More enterable buildings in zones. I would be more or less happy with the game if the zones went back to ARR design philosophy. Going from ~40 enterable buildings/rooms in ARR to the less than 10 in the subsequent expansion zones near damn broke my heart. Maybe this changed in DT, I'm still on EW so I can't confirm.
I'm in this strange camp of still liking this game where i'll do an extreme when it comes out but then unsubscribing for 6 months at a time.
I'm hoping the new combat zone will bring people out to play together and have fun again.
I also don't believe in sunken cost fallacy. If I genuinely had fun playing whether it be in the past or now, then the time & money was not wasted.
it's only wasted if you're still here complaining about something you're paying for. But trying to bring up this point to reddit and the forums is like talking to a wall.
There's no doubt this is an old clunky game and nothing will change. The devs seem tired or just not willing to go against what yoshi p wants. He said in an interview with a youtuber(i forgot who) that the dungeon formula is a "package" that he doesn't want to change.
Another ultimatum thread. LOL
Most of the demand list is also very vague. What devs find to be "improvements" may not be what you expect. They already viewed the changes that resulted in what we have now as "improvements."
Major job changes are what I'm worried about actually, with DT they gutted monk, ninja, and black mage. They also did some pruning on dragoon. Viper got their own pruning so fast that I'd almost not count it.
honestly i love if they use VC dungeon as msq dungeon, let start with 1 big dungeon, 8.0 will unlock 3 route, and they add 1 more route in every xpac, by the end we can have one big dungeon with 8 route to play, with this they can just merge level cap roulette and expert roulette into one roulette since player will freely choice whatever route they want to do in this dungeon or a reward system which give out extra chest if party follow NPC at the start of dungeon like every VC dungeon has
Well for one, if they continue on their same trajectory as what they did with other melee, I (sadly) foresee them removing both DRG's DoT and damage buff to replace them with some gauge that makes the former buff/dot combo merely 'empower' the other combo.
It would be especially bad then as it would almost just become a monk without blitz.
Don´t forget Samurais self buffs for Speed and Damage we cannot have a job needing to jugle buff uptime I for see it to be removed in the coming patches getting the same treatment as Monk were the game delivers glowing buttons to tell you what button to press next.
I'm still salty about Huton. I stopped playing Ninja after they changed it. I want my buff back. It felt so cool as well as everyone was running in to get into range, and you pop a Naruto jutsu and teleported to the boss pop another to put a dot on it. It's job identity. And it's gone. I'm surprised the teleport is still there. Next, it will be that and doton. Just keep removing it all until it feels like a viper. I get people are stupid, and I'm casual, but even I could find joy in it.
I am not a Ninja main but a friend of mine was and till this day I keep hearing how much they miss there beloved pinwheel. All they wanted was a better way to keep the buff going while synced to 50, but no it was removed and insted there is not this strange kunai mechanic which feels incredebly halfassed.
I kinda lost all hope. Came to realize that its mainly a Japanese game for Japanese “I have 60 minutes a day for leisure activities in between sleep, work, and forced afterwork izakaya meetings” players and all they want is a mind numbing guardrail MMO with FF characters where every class has only one way to play it, every instance is a tunnel with colorful background, and every boss is just a telegraph sequence inside a box, because you know, they don’t have time for sweaty NEET things like talent trees, builds and game mechanics.
i wish they will put a training mode for endgame boss fight, this mode will give you several checkpoint through fight, but doesn't give you a clear, once you think you get comfor with boss fight you can go for real fight, which doesn't has any check point, even for the 4th fight of savage raid, because nowaday there are alot of dude just straightly lie about their progress in clear party and expect to get carry, which make it really frustate to deal with these people, they can make a PF filter for clear each checkpoint in training mode also
Don't care.
Every announcement they make is something I will not know when or if they actually implement it. They always promise stuff, then let us wait for *⊹₊~years~₊⊹* until we get the updates (or not).
Don't care.
The game either has some interesting content to play *⊹₊~now~₊⊹* or I will stop playing. I don't care about future implementations that will disappoint me, just so that they can bait us into more promises.
I want massive changes *⊹₊~now~₊⊹*, I am done looking forward to whatever.
1 more thing! If we don't see better Seasonal events we will quit!
