Not saying the same problem doesn't exist now, but it's not as though as though suddenly everyone responsible for FFXI disappeared after making it. They worked on FFXIV and except for Tanaka and a couple of others, they continued into ARR and beyond.

And while FFXI was full of fond memories for me, it was a product of its time. I don't believe a paid MMO could get away with the same slow grind today and the cutscene from SoA someone posted above that was supposed to impress me is still very dated. 1.0 had a lot of mo-capped cutscenes that put what we have now to shame but it seems like it's not around because the cost wasn't worth it. But it's not as though as we don't have action-heavy cutscenes with people jumping around on things since we still continue to have that. And as for the writing, for every well written and well regarded main character like Prishe, you have characters like Lion who just... exists.

Sorry, but you're wrong. We need to stop giving people a reason to stay on free trail. It's annoying enough to keep queing for low level dungeons for the roulette when tying to learn to use my new obtained abilities for my jobs.

They should start having events in different cities like Solution 69, Norvandrnt, & such. I'm pretty sure it's other cities in the game celebrate holidays/events, lore-wise.

Heavens no, that's too much gameplay for me. I practically have a panic attack whenever SE expects me to use my abilities.

Considering we've talked to ghosts in this event before, it might actually just be an Echo incident with Thancred and us having a flashback to a time when he was Big Brother / Dad Figure to Minfilia because of how F'lhaminn was missing since the Calamity. Or something.

Every year I pray that some of my fav FFXI holiday glams make it into this game ^^; There were some great looks back in the day.

I think they should offer easy in game "add to your automatic subscription fee" payment options to have different character options for the seasonal events. Like two dollars for an option, so we could have plenty of fun while also supporting our beloved company and leaders in this new 10-year era of supreme MMO

I don’t think they believe that at all. Not even close. I also think they cater to the NA player base more than any other, which makes sense since the vast majority of subscribers are from NA. They’re also very aware of the game’s massive female and LGBTQ player population, and I think the content and story since ShB has reflected that.

Huh, you're right! I just noticed that (I'd saved the original version of the artwork and just compared it now). Wonder how that snuck into the art brief (guess SE didn't want spoilers for new players).

After doing the event, anyone else feel a little jebaited by the event artwork?

Not really because like someone said earlier, they said they just use old npcs for the artwork, the npcs are not involved in the events

In case you don't recognize Marabel - She was around Little Ladies Day in 2022 and staged her debut there.

If you happened to complete the events back then, she will have a unique dialogue for you.
Definitely a 'Ahhh, I remember.' - moment. Which is nice to see.

More of that weird "miscommunication" that seems to be happening a lot. This dev team seems to misunderstand what's being asked of them.

People say "We want to see more of the Scions" and what they mean is in the story.

Yoshida hears that and his response is "OK put them in minor seasonal event artwork, but don't actually put them in the event".

It's not just this. They constantly misunderstand or misinterpret player requests.

I liked the event and it was interesting that this quest series had a few unique elements and a lot of dialogue options. The glam is great too!

I already had heard that Thancred and Minfilia were just going to be in the artwork. It's a little bit of a strange choice to make the artwork unrelated to the event itself and it would have been cool to see a "flashback" of sorts that involved Thancred and Minfilia but what they presented was good too. It's cute how they keep the same "cast of characters" for these holiday events year after year.

I like the outfit, thank you for that.
But next time, spare me the errand-boy quests and just hand out the outfit so I can play other games.
