Oh noes! Well, extreme soloing isn't cutting in a MMO

Why do "solo players" subscribe to this kind of game? And why do these players cry so much because things aren't as solo friendly in this kind of game(even though they actually are in this game)? This game belongs to a genre called MASSIVE multiplayer online RPG, for crying out loud. Do they even read this before they get the game?
o.O I solo play for the most part and have no issues with it. I also know that I'm part of a good ls that when I need help they will help me. I'm not complaining
There is nothing wrong about trying to solo/duo your way through the game. I've leveled most of my classes solo with a friend by doing Guildleves. But, in all fairness, you have to expect that FFXIV (like other MMO's) will have content which is supposed to be tackled with a group. For example, Primals, Hamlets, Dungeons, etc. It's an MMO afterall.
But also, trying to solo content which was meant for a group can also be a challenge for people.
Then again, you mentioned before that you don't want to be a "Group Slave" or participate in a party with "Bad Leadership". That's fine. But, there are other people who are willing to help you out with (for instance) the Aurum Vale AF. Wouldn't that be worth a shot? Granted, you would not have aquired the AF on your own, but you would still have it.
Even though the Black Mage job was meant for Parties, you would still be able to use it as you see fit while soloing. There is nothing holding you back. So, i don't think it would be fair to "us" (referring to the people who want to solo, but still want to finish the Job Quests/Dungeons/Primals/etc) by warning us that our efforts would be in "vain" because we can't solo a certain part of a quest/content. But what about the people who would offer to help you to get the item you want? Personally, i would feel like i got slapped in the face if someone would decline my offer to help out "just" because (s)he would think it would be a waste of their time because (s)he couldn't solo it themselves.
Again, there is nothing bad about wanting to solo content. You would simply be playing the game at your own pace. But think about this... There are (like minded) people in the game (even on your server) who like to help others out in time of need. Not every party is a "badly managed group where the leader treats its members as slaves" type of group.

Whm + War (or pally) duos have always been my favorite. With that you can pretty much do anything outside of instanced play.
Class is best suited for solo play as the dev themselves mention, and switching to a job will make you a specialist in that role best suited for group content. That is why a perfect balance between these content is key. I think we have to have both because you cant have yin without yang
2.0 will most likely have tons of solo play content, moreso than 4 leve allowances every 8 hours or whatever it is.
I never understood the whole "IT'S AN MMO YOU SHOULD HAVE TO PLAY WITH OTHER PEOPLE" thing. He actually hit a point in his inane rant. That's a bad business model, and nobody cares what hardcore tryhards care about when it comes to making money.
There are good solo players who accept their place in an MMO world and enjoy it, then there is the OP.
QFT. Methinks the op had one bad experience with a pt and now thinks they're all like that. I think you need to find a good ls with helpful people (not hard to find if you're willing to put forth some effort) to help you get pt quests done. This game is solo friendly (I like to solo a lot too, and I am still able to do many things), but it isn't anti-social friendly.
Rokien made a spare account?
Too bad it only takes less than 5 minutes to get your BLM AF if you weren't lazy enough to just make a group of four or more of people willing to enter instance with you. GL soloing mistress/ifrit/moogle/garuda/all other AF(in instance)/last AF quest/hamlet/GC last quest/skirmish.
Better join a linkshell quick, you might enjoy it. :)
Hello Northman,
I am not sure if you new to Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy big collection of games over many years. In all Final Fantasy games party and teamwork important. They all show how people get together to beat enemies. Not just to fight in battle, but main part of 'story' is how to work together.
That is how FFXIV is as well. Show how team work lets you win. That can not change. TO change that would mean no more final fantasy.
For you, maybe good idea to join linkshell or make friends. Go win quests together. Get AF and fight tougher mobs. Good big linkshell have 'events' organized (once a week, go get AF). This can help you. This is how FFXIV work. Please find a way to work with it.
Thank you.
So yeah, it's this guy again...

Look, I'm not trying to be mean, but it seems you only wish to solo this game (maybe because there aren't many players in your native language?) I don't know your reasons, but it's not really a game designed for soloists. It's designed to be played in groups. So either:
1. Accept that you will either not be able to do 100% of content solo
2. Need to occasionally group up to get some content you wish to clear done
3. Get some of your RL friends to play so you can communicate in your native language (again sorry if English IS your primary language)
4. Face your fears and join a social ls...or 4. You don't have to talk in shell or anything. But if you see 'Aurum Veil anyone?' say 'sure' and jump in and get your clears that way.
But if none of this works for you, then maybe, you'd be better served to play a different game, designed for single players.
Could we maybe just get three Aegis players to volunteer to help him out?
You can always just craft and gather.
Well this sucks, seeing how NO ONE IN THE GAME HELPS ME!
