So I tried to purchase something from the Mogstation, thinking that since I had Crysta I shouldn’t have an issue with the Adress Invalid thing.
Sadly, the site still required me to change my address and it kept giving the invalid error.
What I did was I used the USPS website to check how to input my NY address EXACTLY as it appeared on the USPS website and it accepted my address.
I was able to use my Philippine credit card to purchase from Mogstation.
Still errors.
A payment service provider that cannot even handle direct debits is not a payment service provider. A completely incompetent decision by Square Enix to change payment service providers.
Direct debit still works for me because I deliberately didn't change my subscription after this strange notification from Square Enix.
Still can't add a card. Every minute you take to fix this is less money for you. At least tell people whats up.
I've been trying to resub since the 23rd, and still no lodestone update from them.
Even tried using other cards it just wont work.
the fact that we have to go through all that hassle to resub is just annoying and infuriating already. customer support isn't helping either.
Arthars brought up the issue last night on stream and Twitter, he's from SG also screwed now. People need to stop saying "but... there is no problem with mine".
This issue is very specific to certain individuals and regions.

Its been a week... Square isn't saying a word about this and doesn't seem to care. It looks like my 10 years with FFXIV is over. (And FYI, I'm in NA and have a simple visa debit card that won't work for some stupid reason.)
Perhaps technical support forum section or bug reports will bring more attention?
Some people have commented about it on Twitter below other announcement tweets from the official English FFXIV account. The technical support forum is full with bug reports about this, but they are all moved to the "Separate Support Required" subforum, because the technical support from the game cannot help. That said, the people moving the threads at least know about it now. Question is, if they're going to forward it to people who can kick SE in the butt and do something about it or if they call it a day because it's technically not their area of responsibility, because that's publisher stuff. Only time will tell I guess.

I think most SEA players who happen to have the US version of the game were forced to put in a fake US address or actual business addresses like McDonalds and Walmart to get past the address update form because there is a validation there. A silly validation I might say because as I said you can still put in fake addresses (but it requires digging through how the validation works), so the actual fraudsters still have a loophole to work with.
So the fraudsters are stilll going to fraud but the actual honest players are the ones affected!!! Because they just want to play the game not finding out how the form works. At least before this they could put in a note in the textbox to show if theyre not a resident of US. It wasnt ideal but at least they didnt use actual addresses that arent theirs and be honest about it. And after the change thats no longer possible. So yeah good job SE. You want to fight frauds by forcing players to use business addresses in their account info.
Its basically just going from one problem to the other. Whats next? A forced address update because you found out so many accounts are now owned by McDonalds? Dont you realize your payment system has been awful and thats what you should fix.
Addresses dont matter if you can do an IP checking at the time of purchase to see from which region someone is buying something and provide payment options based on that region. This means to work with so many payment companies that support multicountries payment. Shitty mobile games can do it, why cant you? It is the norm within Playstore and Appstore too, things work seamlessly behind for security and fraud check, not from what the users put into your form!
The problem Lieri is the most popular card in NA (aka Visa Debit) is being blocked. How the hell am I going to pay for this game if I can't use my card?
This is the same company where just buying the base game to begin with is notoriously difficult. I'll never forget when XIV was experiencing that surge in popularity and all those streamers wanted to try it out. Each and every one of them had that moment on stream where they'd try to buy it and have 1000 people telling them 11 different things and iirc a few even bought the wrong copy of the game for their account or something. It was so wild. I don't know why they are like this. People are trying to hand them money and square's like "nooooo stop itttt!!!"
That's a temporary amount the bank or card vendor deducts to check your account and card is valid - it's refunded back to you after a few days to a week.
As for using Crysta as an alternative payment method, unfortunately that doesn't help everyone as it's not available in many countries (Australia being one), so sadly that is not an option for me.
I can only assume since after a week they haven't said anything that this change is intentional and they no longer want anyone who is having this problem to be able to play their game. I've sent in a support ticket, no response, I've posted dozens of times, no response, nothing. Not even a "hey we're aware something is going on" or anything. Just absolutely NOTHING.
At this point I am -BEYOND- pissed off. I spent 10 years playing this game just to be thwarted by a payment processor.
I'm giving it until the end of the week. If nothing is said about it, or done, I am /PERMANENTLY/ done.
EU player here, I've had no issues. My card works fine, can purchase crysta fine and I have not had to confirm my address either. But given these issues and that SE does have a history of it, I've got 6 months worth of crysta loaded just in case. Might be advisable for people living in regions where they had to use a false address to play originally going forward to do the same when they can, should they care too.
I do hope players struggling can have the issue resolved quickly, I'd hate to be in the same boat and be worrying over losing the houses I spent years getting. And we all know if someone loses it over issues they WILL NOT return it because by the time they fix it someone else will have purchased the house and they probably have no system in place to assign a house in that manner either. That'd be the end of my time in ff for sure, so I don't blame people for being furious atm and I wish you all luck trying to sort it out yourselves while we await SE fixing their crap.
Their store and the way even purchasing the game and game time is separated and obfuscated is ridiculous and is long overdue to be fixed, we all should remember the trouble the WoW refugees had just trying to buy the damn game.

I used to have similar issue but this was long before the recent update. What I did to keep playing was to buy game time card via 3rd party vendors with increases rate. Sucks, but it was all I could do + no mog access.
Last year though, I managed to fix the on-going issue I had with PayPal (unrelated to SE) and has been stable since then + mog station access. But seeing how notoriously bad SE at taking people’s money, I can’t help but worry when they’ll bork my payment method next, considering a good number of my fellow SEA-mates have now lost their way to keep using their old payment methods.

Concerned about whether I'll be able to renew it. I have an EU account but since moved to Canada, but for some reason Square doesn't let you update your country. They really are the hardest company to pay.
For comparison Blizzard just lets you do everything in-launcher so you don't need to worry about 3 different store pages with different regional restrictions.
I hope that people who don't have issues can at least think that this is such an unacceptable thing to happen, that if it works for you but if it's an actual nightmare for others isn't a good sign.
It's not a good practice at all....Paying for something shouldn't be a stressful thing, if your customer is constantly worrying about the creative ways you might think of to cause them stress and potentially make them unable to access a service that WAS and should be available to them. You're doing something horribly wrong.
No, gametime cards is just a badaid fix. Where I live, I can't buy gametime cards OR crysta because crysta is region blocked???? Why do you put people in EU or NA regions but only residents of NA can buy NA cards and EU can buy EU cards and any country that gets dumped in the EU or NA region gets screwed over.
SE made a really horrible anti-consumer decision. Let's make it impossible for some people to even pay their sub, let's push them towards shady third party websites for gametime, let's take away the retainer service that they may have had, let's also tell them 'hey you can't buy optional items anymore'.
I think the elephant in the room is that, people like the game so much that SE can afford to be lazy with payment system. But if you look at most reviewers they all say the same thing, the store (mainly mogstation) and payment system are awful. Any other game would struggle to keep and gain popularity with the same system. If i can rate mogstation I'd give it 1 star even before this change. MMORPGs from 2000s had better payment system better than this.
And its funny how theyre cracking fraudsters payment when limsa is littered with RMT sellers everyday who are clearly there and shouting things visible to everyone. Not to mention the house flippers who are still holding most wards hostage.
I mean that's not at all the jist of what I've said. The point was, this doesn't work under x circumstance for the other people who have posted. And for me under y circumstance it is working. It just helps give a picture of the situation overall. I'm also saying I get that it feels crappy for people dealing with it and SE need to fix it. No need to take your anger out on me, I'm not the one causing your problems.
I've not seen other EU people having issues but I have not gone over every single post. And I am curious to see if this is an issue limited to NA players.

After the payment process change. That means it could have something to do with NA Visa Debit being handled differently compared to EU, or your card having the issue, or your address being mismatched in their system. Have you tried adding a card from someone else in the same household?
This is awful. People shouldn't have to jump through hoops to pay a subscription. SE needs to look into this.
There is a Stream being held fri at 10am for the EU community, maybe people should bomb the stream with complaints and messages about this matter. Forum and Reddit dont seem to be enough to get their attention so time to try something more intrusive..

Just an update, nothing works. SE support suggested everything but all suggestions failed. There are post in reddit, saying it seems to be affecting some visa debit cards. Even buying paypal and it does not work. This is not just SEA, some countries in EU having issues as well. Some orders in SE store getting cancelled. Even Zepla talking about this right now. This is blowing up! SE you did great in 2024!
