Sucks it has to be that way, if true. Though we might be getting something similar to what we have always asked. I still have faith.

Question:
Is it allready stated, that it will be a class, where you tames differently beast?
After seeing Vincent again in f7 rebirth, came the idea, what if, it is a class, where you yourself transform into differently beast? Similary to the move from the reaper and Vincent.
If I remember right, they said they'd talk about it later and that it would be coming in a later 7.X patch. It being a job where you morph into creatures would not specifically be for Beast Master. It'd be better off serving as a mechanic in a non-limited job. We've already had one job that , initially one of 2 pet oriented jobs, was stripped of its pet system for the sake of some that had this romanticized version of flashy one and done attacks; and now everyone has to eat the bowl of mush that was left because of it. Beast Master should be the job that brings back the pet mechanics.
Even so, the limited job still kicks in and you cannot still bring it to content that matter. It's like playing a game where it's a paid trial version.
Let's say a player decided not to participate in any end-game content for whatever reason. The fact of the matter is that the option is there but they consciously declined. Now compare that with someone wanting to do said end-game content but the job they wanted to play as is hard gated. While both pay the exact same sub, one is still able to play the job they want and still offered the option to experience the entirety of the game vs someone who really likes to play a job but is not allowed to because reasons.
That's why the entire limited job system is flawed to the core, for me.
I say the entire Limited Job Thing is just a waste, imo they should try and break away from the DoW=Tank&Melee&Ranged DoM= Healer&MagicDPS stuff and give us something new like Mage Tank for example, who could utilize Magic by learning from the Monster they encounter (Yes! Blue Mage should be a Tank imo!!!) or a DoW Healer with a Sniper Rifle, like Ana from Overwatch or Sharla from Xenoblade1 but back to the Topic:
Beastmaster should be a Ranged DPS Pet Job, not a Limited Job!
Can it be a tank job where your character is still tanking but it is calling in pets to deal damage for you.
Im personally excited for the Beastmaster. Its actually making me want to give limited jobs a second chance. Plus I believe they said they were developing more content for limited jobs only. Also, if they continue creating more Limited, it opens up an entire secondary game within 14. It gives the devs the opportunity to do or try things that wouldn't necessarily work in the standard jobs/parties and gives more flexibility to players with expanded content that doesn't fit into the msq storyline. I think the main problem with limited jobs, is they only released blu and its been around for awhile, so it felt kinda stagnant and narrow. Adding more gives more options to play with and gives those of us who have gone through and leveled everything else, capped tribal quests, etc something else to do. Its optional, if we dont like them, its not necessary to play them.
I hope beastmaster is an amazing job I hope it's great considering how badly us blue mages got bent over with the last update. I hope normal jobs look at it in jealousy for brushing off how bad we complained about the blue mage update because it's not a real job or whatever.
Technically SMN was also a very solo job (but could use groups as needed). Pup was (well, still is) incredibly solo friendly. PUP can also solo t3 escha nm's and some odyssey bosses too. BST would mostly use Tiger, lizard, or crab jug pets pre 99 while leveling. But after that depended on the content. Wanted to farm a lot? Falcorr. Want to dps/cp? Tiger/lizard. Want to aoe packs of mobs? Bubbly broth (bouncing bertha).
It's funny how chicken nugget was actually tanking Ramuh Ex back in the day.. and now the idea of a pet tanking is relegated to a limited job. And for those who're wondering how was it possible, VIT melds on SMN.
I really wanted BST to be an amazing regular job instead of limited, using a Crossbow since we do not have any job with crossbow. Yes, a wasted opportunity indeed. I was also hoping they would make BLU a regular job too.
What a pity.
imo Beastmaster should be more like the Hunter Branch from Ragnarok Online and Blue Mage well.. learning Spell by getting hit by them.. what Role of the Trinity is supposed to get hit? Tank! It would be awesome to break away from the norm for once and give us a DoM Tank^^
Honestly Bst should probably use a whip, considering its a weapon they've used in the past and its not a weapon with something similar already in game. Or it could be like the ones we see in Bozja, that use a warfan
Have to agree. The "Limited Job" concept in general is a waste.
One of the worst aspects of FFXIV's gameplay in comparison to most MMOs is that, when played correctly, everyone plays every job the same. As in, a top level Ninja is not going to be doing anything dissimilar from another top level Ninja. Every "good" Summoner plays pretty much the same as the next. Rotations are generally static, there aren't different masteries/specializations or different builds. Gear progression is pretty linear and there aren't any significant choices beyond Melding which is already optimized for the "correct" answer right away.
BLU and BST should have been balanced around being a full-fledged job so that it could fill that niche for people who enjoy varied build possibilities and theorycrafting, because otherwise there really isn't anything like that in this game. But a job locked behind the "Limited Job" moniker that is off from most content doesn't strike me as an appealing investment of time, and I'm sure there are no small number of people that share that same opinion.
Hence BST could've been a good candidate for another tank job.. probably branching off from GLA. The BST is still tanking yet he commands his trusted companion like Torgal is to Clive and do "tricks". Not to mention that the companion never leaves his side, can take damage too so BST will be the first tank that has a unique mechanic of making sure your pet and you are out of harms way.. Maybe even a cooldown to temporarily mount your pet so it is easier to dodge mechanics.
