And besides FFXIV 2.0 alpha is end of September ( which will last a week tops) then Beta in October, Its not getting "Officially" released till Holiday season or January.

at that point those MMOs will have their beginner's Shine.. now only question reminds is, will those MMO's will be fun enough to keep them away from the New FFXIV 2.0 when it comes out Officially... well that's another subject :P.

Name me another MMO that was pushing for information and getting noticed in the media with lots of attention at the same time of SWTOR Release, otherwise learn to read.

2.0 release is fine, but it will be lacksum because its "hype-o-meter" lol will be damaged in August.

I didnt say its a bad game, its definitelt polished but its not 'great' imo.

Is xiv 2.0 overhyped? Yes, it is.
Will xiv 2.0 news makes ppl moves from other game to xiv 1.0? Of course not.

Will Xiv 2.0 swiped everything else when it launch? We dont know.

Will GW2 swiped everything else when it launch and everything else go unnotice? (which is what i feel you implied) Definitely not.

2.0 isnt hyped at all, go read forums beyond this website, look at comments from other games to this game, heck even look on youtube videos, there are still people who think the game is the same as 2010 lol....

GW2 release will overcrowd everything in August as far as news, its too big in the industry's eye they will want to be the first to report and be the "center of attention", everyone will be looking for news on it, even you because you will look for the "has it failed" news, and sites will want to tell you if it has in 20 different articles.

Like MOP beta... this isnt new, it always happens with the big games. It happened with XIV launch. Got huge news, and is a major affect of its failure across reputation.

I am a jerk because I am worried about SE's marketing plan and want this game to succeed and so I state why on a forum where developers ask for our opinions on anything XIV related, yet you sit by thinking money grows on trees and everyone is on the edge of their seat for 2.0 that on launch it will have millions players who have been eagerly waiting due to all this hype.

If you're worried about it, instead of telling people to read why don't you look at the reality of the situation and realize that all new MMOs are hyped beyond words and even top reviewers are starting to say try to turn down your hype because we seen what happened when we overhyped Tera and SWTOR. 2.0 is a relaunch, not a new MMO, people know XIV exists people are legitimately excited for 2.0's relaunch after the E3 package, it won't be flooded out.

You even mentioned WoW's expansion pack flooding it out, the same way Cataclysm negated the need for new MMOs to exist let alone be promoted, right? >__>

Here's FFXIV's marketing plan... enjoy. FFXIV and SWTOR don't need no stinkin' commercials, they have the brand name backing them, we all know anything with the Star Wars or Final Fantasy name is automatically going to rake in millions.

Not once I said the next best thing, I said TERA will do well, and SWTOR, and oh look they have lol SWTOR with over a million and even thinking about F2P so will get even more people on its side, and TERA has already stolen a lot of people from XIV (just like Diablo as well). We dont need more games stealing from XIV, the fact is XIV population is so little that you might see 500 people leave for TERA, thats like 5% of the population lol...

Does not matter how I show it, I am not going to go "omg SE I beg please be better, i love u, here is some sugar candy", the news that SE will release on 2.0 and goes on media sites will be very quickly flushed away by all the news on GW2/MOP. Those games are bigger and have more attention and media sites will always go with the hurd, thats why we still have tons of WoW stuff all over and its become lingo..

Where is this millions? Both have very bad launches, both have big names, yet XIV has a 97% playerbase loss since launch and swtor a 23% loss, one has 20k other has almost 1.3m lol x.x

I saw GW2 thrown out a few times and kind of went in to auto ignore.

SWTOR is deemed medicore and they have to go F2P because it lost momentum and they're trying to win people back.

TERA is currently failing in EU too (Because FROGSTER is a very incompetent publisher) and KR just finished merging their servers down from 15 to 3 yesterday, NATERA's producer is thinking of taking EUTERA's subscribers and allowing them to come into their servers as well.

And that is a bad idea to determine success? Its how I determine, me personally.

Yes it's bad/stupid to determine success on subscription #s... (An MMO can have over 1 billion subs, but if the publisher/host of the game is poorly managing it, then it can shut down, regardless of how many subscribers there are.)

I'd hate to see how you'd run an mmo.

Shutting down is not my concern, swtor, xiv, tera could all be shutdown, but havent, even dispite everyone including themself saying its a failure.

People playing the game, idk what it is with me but when I play to MMO i like to know there are hundreds of thousands of people also playing too, and I can play with tons of different people every day and know online everyone is talking about it, you can get this with swtor(if they merge servers already), you can get this with tera, but not xiv because its such a small amount of people playing.

So a game successful to me, is a game that has lots of people playing, not a few.

The thing is, a lot of people get grumpy cuse they see me in a negative tone here about the game, and think I buttrub the other games, when in reality I am also on their forums stating things i dont like, ya know things the developers ask for, but the community cant handle it. But I still do it because the devs ask for it, i do it for them XD

NA site is up.. nothing new though.. just thought I throw that out there ^.^

The site was as I expected, so I can't say I'm disappointed, but why they waited a month to publish it is anyone's guess.

If its anything like the previous version of the site new tabs will be added and old info will be reorganized. I expect all the current info on the site to be put in an all encompassing 'media' tab later. The good news is that the site launched, which means they now have a standard portal to showcase new 2.0 stuff. I don't expect it to fill up too big till Gamescon/Final Fantasy 25th anniversary conference in August, but the fact its live means they now have a portal to add little things like lore, new tabs for gameplay content (just like the old site), info on the regions, maybe quick explanations on how the core parts of crafting get changed etc. (Remember this site is for new and old players, it will have core concepts explained in it later).

I'm 'hoping' we will see some more stuff in it now that it launched every other week leading into late august, starting this weekend with Anime Expo in Paris where Yoshida is going to doing a stage demonstration/talk of FFXIV 2.0 (including autographs after its done).

It seems like they are still holding onto any new info/media for something big. I really thought the launch of the 2.0 site would be the flood of content they were holding back.

I'm sure XIV isn't trying to build hype right now, because that would bring players to 1.0 which isn't that great to look at(with all it's awesome improvements and all) we will see a lot more once 2.0 is actually ready i'm sure of it.
They could also be trying to "underachieve", as in make everyone think the game is "meh" and then BOOM nothing but good press! I know there are other games that succeeded like this but none come to mind right now...

It's a "Teaser" site for a reason..

you do know what a teaser site is, right? it's not the ACTUAL site they're going to be using at launch. it's a teaser.

It's up for us, not for a selling prospective yet. In August when they do their Marketing Campaign that site will be in Full Power mode.. Remember this game is not coming out Officially till This Winter season or January.

I think it looks nice so far =D Was hoping for new info haha but August is right around the corner ^^
