Guess I'm in a minority that been enjoying Endwalker a lot. I honestly don't understand all the hate for this expansion or 7.0. Perhaps someone can fill me in?
To give you an actual, non-joke answer: the main criticisms for Endwalker outside of story has been the lack of substantial long-lasting content like Eureka/Bozja/Relic grind and job design focusing too much on homogenization and balance.
As for why there are people who don't like the story, I'd rather let someone else whose more versed in that discussion to answer.
I would like to see more new characters other than Scions. Besides that, the trailer looks good to me.
I'm hoping the full trailer is a bit...busier and has some action for people other then the WoL.
Krile being conspicuously absent makes me wonder if they just forgot about her again or if they don't want to show her yet because she's using the new caster job or some such.
I really enjoyed the trailer. It has a sense of adventure, exploration, and fun. The new expansion is sounding exciting to me!
Ah, I think the OP is disappointed.
It's only a partial trailer though, the full one will arrive in about 6 months.
I think he wanted a darker, darker world.
When we were reminded that we'd been sold the end of a cycle with Endwalker, everyone was surprised not to get the end boss they'd been hoping for.
When I say everyone, I mean everyone who was disappointed with Endwalker, not the 10M players.
It's okay. As someone else mentioned I'd rather get a clean slate somehow and get rid of being the giga powerful warrior of the light that saved the world via some plot device that would probably make the majority of the playerbase upset. I liked being someone who is just an adventurer. And I'd like Yshtola's absence.
But this is okay.
So what exactly was wrong with it?
Buddy, having to constantly up the stakes would just kill the intended effect when shit goes down. It's actually bad storytelling for a narrative to always have bigger and bigger stakes everything without falling action.
The 1st arc of FFXIV is concluded. It's time for us to start anew again.
Music was a little weird but I'm down to get away from being the most important person in the universe.
Speaking about the trailer and only the trailer I only liked it aesthetics-wise.
The music and the general vibe was kind of a turn off. And I really can't think of anything that could change that. Like, next teaser is probably gonna show that the WoL was holding a pistol on his offhand, okay.
Perhaps we see Krile or Zero or -character I didn't expect- on CG form? big woop. Doesn't really change anything.
Hey, I'm not the one who decided to pull out all the superlatives to call it the Absolute Worst Ever when 'sparring practice and shots of rocks with zero reveals of anything' is right there.
Comparatively, it ain't even close, and any argument to the contrary is beyond delusional. Which, to be fair, is par for the course around here.
I didn't hate it, per se. It's visually interesting.
But as a teaser, I don't know what it was actually trying to accomplish. It didn't tease a single thing that we didn't already know.
It only really exists on this forum, which has been an "echo chamber" of negativity for the entire life of the game. Go practically anywhere else and you'll see tons of people who are really enjoying EW. Heck, even the doomsayers on here love to claim that it's the only place on the internet you can actually be negative about the game without being bombarded with people who love it getting on your case. The forum here is like the bizarro world where the exact opposite is true.
Personally, I'm having a blast with EW. I love the story, the music is amazing, and there's so much to do that I haven't even started IS or the new Variant Dungeon yet (and I'm still doing things from several previous expansions, too). I find the game a ton of fun.
To be fair, that Taco demonstrated some 4th wall breaking meme awareness on CBUIII's part:

My daily post count isn't going to survive this either.
Guys. I figured it out. Striker doesn't necessarily like EW, because Striker isn't playing EW. Striker likes older expansions and is confusing those for EW because that's the name on the tin. Maybe there's hope for him. Maybe one day he'll reach EW content and realize that it kinda sucks.
What’s interesting is we will probably see something similar to what happened in wow
A lot of people didn’t like the direction of the game post wrath since the first three expansions basically tied up all the loose ends from Warcraft 3. There was a lot of criticism on the direction of the story in cataclysm as it indicated the ending of one saga and the beginning of another
People didn’t like the direction of the story / the game, pretty sure we are seeing and will continue to see something similar here
This.
I can't say the music particularly caught my attention but, as has been stated, it seems very likely that we'll get more extensive versions in later trailers.
As for the content of the trailer itself.... I quite liked it. I mean, this is almost a 'clean slate' story. The world-ending threats are done for now, and judging by Derplander's smiles, we have a situation where the Warrior of Light is going somewhere by choice rather than necessity. I quite like that.
Its the beach episode in expiation form.
the Endwalker teaser trailer kind of sucked too.
I really like the trailer, I hope it will be a fun and chill expansion compared to the dark stuff we had in the last 2. :) ShB isn't even that good tbh, it's sitting in the middle after SB and EW for me, lol.
In your opinion. There appears to be a more popular contrary opinion, if one goes by the number of players who are fans of G'raha Tia.
I'm of the opinion that the "Taco scene" was a direct troll of a certain set of posts in these forums that expressed intense dislike of the "Hamburger scene".
For the people complaiming about the Stormblood teaser, was that the WoL vs Lyse one? I actually really liked that one.
This one is fine I guess. Taco Graha was cringe and a bit lukewarm overall.
I think some people in this thread forgot about the part of the keynote where Yoshi-P said it wasn't just a summer vacation; there will be a full-fledged story fit for a modern RPG in Dawntrail. What we got is simply a teaser trailer showcasing the overall vibe they're going for in 7.0.
I like what I see in that trailer. I'm all for an expansion focusing on exploration, but I understand how that is not for everyone ^_^.
