I say thats the best approach, COMPLETELY ignoring all and every threads from them so to not give them the satisfaction of bumping them or giving attention in general, completely ignoring their comments anywhere by not replying to them or about them, please remember that they will try to stir you on, remember it’s just trolls, don’t feed them, they will insult, try to piss you off but just ignore, report and write support.
If they don’t get banned by the moderators, they will just talk to themselves and their alts, sad af as it should be.

That’s why as conspirational as it may sound, it’s weird how many insults they threw at people and never got banned while many of you did, it goes back to them talking behind people’s backs and going on mass reports on their multiple accounts in order to attract the attention of a mod.

Which is why I used to report the trolls every single time I saw their threads. Then I started calling out moderators for doing nothing about it, and now I don't even bother because nothing happens to the people who NEED a permanent account deletion.

Thats why this thread is important and I apologise to Zephyr for derailing it a bit, whilst I appreciate seeing some mod action around, let this thread be a reminder to all of us just how many people, DIFFERENT people and not alts, are sick of this, and give them a taste of their medicine and mass report all the insults and antagonistic behaviour. Don’t give up, clearly mass reporting works, there’s probably just one person working here once in a while who can’t keep up with everything but they notice the mass reporting.

I think it was like 4-5 in total cause I have been in a few which I left tabbed, came back refreshed and they're gone. I could be wrong or they may be from another user. Either way this just needs to be the start of them noticing the pattern...if they could just acknowledge it, that would be nice but fingers aren't going to be crossed for this. Would be nice to be surprised but we shall see.

I was looking through the forums and I don't seem to be able to figure out which threads they removed ? Were they Titanmen's ? Looks like his name is less present, if that's the case, god bless, however his stupid "add non binary to the game" can go too

If you really want to make a good report, one time (5 years ago), I called Square-Enix’s Customer Support to just file a complaint on the forums about someone who was harassing me by following my posts. It’s the reason why I hadn’t logged onto here much and posted.

The 2 recent ones were Gaius, the others I remember (My 4-5 was in response to your in 3 weeks statement) were Titanmen threads, I agree the non binary one needs to go...like I am all for talking about like non binary and representation but its a case of he's using it to actually troll and is not at all for people in that demographic which I think is more insulting.

That would be by far the best thing to do, though hard to achieve I fear. They just need one or two unsuspecting posters to satisfy their hunger, and the more personal they go the harder it will be for people to keep their cool.

It seems they spend more time moving threads to another parts of forums (see some recent CC threads) and have to see a pretty grievous error from users to take action. It's nice that they have at least some presence though.

I've just gotten bored with all of the low-effort trolls. So much dull spam clogging up the front pages of the forum, or necro bumping old threads. And since there's no consequences, they keep doing it. It's like watching children running around a store screaming their heads off while their parents ignore them.

The worst part is they're not even trying to be funny or clever about it. All they have is spam. It's so boring.

I think they should start banning IP addresses tbh. make the trolls work for what they want, you know what I'm saying? don't make it easy for them to come back. make them sweat and make them dish out big $$$ if they want to keep their circus alive and kicking!

IP bans are not as effective as you'd think.

Most people running through an ISP are on a dynamic IP address rather than a static address. Meaning that one could reset their router for a couple of hours-- Even a couple of minutes, and you'd likely be assigned a new IP - With this now banned IP getting assigned to someone else down the line. Further to this, if you're accessing the game or a forum through an org, be it a university dorm, or whatever, then that ban by proxy would cover a lot more users than intended.

IMO, you'd be best just tying forum bans to the actual game service. So any sanctions you're issued on the forum would carry to in-game, and vice versa with bans in-game. - It would simmer a lot of people down.

While I don't necessarily agree that a forum ban should automatically result in a game ban, I definitely would support it in the case of repetitive offenders.

It's not always the original poster that's trolling (though I imagine I know who you're thinking about and the threads they create). Trolls will enter into constructive threads to disrupt things as well.

Someone is paying for their accounts even if they aren't personally. Players without active subscriptions (or recently very expired subscriptions) are only able to post in the New Player Help subforum as far as I can recall.

It would be nice if that limitation extended to players taking advantage of the free login campaigns as well. There are a few names that only seem to pop back up when those are active.

you know this, I know this, everyone else knows this.. but.. we are all called "paypigs" because we subscribe.

they say it often enough and either they are SE employees, which I doubt, or operate stolen accounts, which I also doubt since those dry up...

of course the most likely answer is they RMT, so while they are "paying" they are using RMT generated funds to do so, and in their mind, that makes them smarter than us "paypigs"

The mass reporting does seem to work within 24 hours. The fact we've not seen certain people yet today might mean a ban has finally happened.

If thats the case we just need to do it to the alts too. No more participating...just a report and move on in silence. I know I keep saying it and then don't but now that action does seem to be working in one degree or another...that is exactly what I'm doing.

The ban just might only be a 10 day ban so be ready for certain people to come back. But if it was a real ban then this is good news.

The "real" bans are so few and far between, especially when it's on accounts that are known to be connected(can't tell me when reading 90% of the troll threads that they aren't the same deranged individual posting on different accounts....which honestly should be against the ToS as it's circumventing following them, resulting in the banning of all linked accounts - and any account that may be using the same payment method whether for Crysta or direct payment)

So what discord server do you have that I see get mentioned? Is it a small tight-knit community or something for the game?

Also just check where 3 particular people have necro'd threads....like poor guy is trying to make a point of relevancy.

Yet we’re treated as some sort of backwater. The 6.x cycle has been a joke compared to what other “flagship” titles (Genshin, WoW, etc) have received. And that lack of respect also goes into how third party plugins are addressed (i.e. not at all). People have turned FFXIV into an open-market ERP sim. The most popular streamers are owners of sex clubs with heavily modded characters. And there’s likely a hundred bots underneath Limsa on every server doing RMT so the market can be propped up in lieu of actual players. Because, honestly, who even gets excited for this game anymore?

Every Gaius and TitanMen thread on this forum is a symbol of decay, and it’s funny how so many people can’t even see it yet. What else would it take? The servers cutting off? Square Enix isn’t gonna clean this place up just like they won’t clean up the bots or the prostitution. It’s a shitty company and they need to be called out at every opportunity until their lackeys resign in disgust.

I mean there are many answers to your statement....this isn't defending but just from observation. But the content pool has already been shown to be on par with any other expansion cycle. The only difference we shifted an exploration zone for a deep dungeon this time. This then goes into the wildly discussed aspect of longevity...the content types have been added they just haven't got long term longevity. If they did you wouldn't need to be making that statement. We have been far from treated like backwater....they have tackled multiple player types...however I will concede some has gone more to the new player experience this expansion but after their giant influx I think they wanted to tidy up and improve the new player experience. The game is 10 years old....you can't keep building the Jenga tower by taking blocks from the bottom...Eventually you'll need to be putting blocks back there to form the stable structure.

WoW has a vastly bigger team and budget then FF14....but oh they said spare no expense etc etc...they are...graphics update....new worlds and data centers.... we don't know whats to come in 7.0 either because from when that statement was made a lot of this content was already planned out so 7.0 onwards is where you could really question that statement or the game direction in general. Genshin....the company who owns them just put out that Genshin and Honkai made them more profit then sonys entire game division in their year reports. Just let that sit with you for a second....they have the money to invest into making Genshin what it is...but also it is what it is because of the gacha systems appealing to a very wanting demographic.

I can't comment on RMT/Botting or ERP because I don't partake or see much of it really I know its there and am not oblivious to it but it does need addressing in some capacity.

It has gotten so sad around here with the army of alts that I barely visit as much as I use too.

It's sad when they don't even ban a person who literally asked them to ban them. Took them at least a week of practically everyone in the lore section reporting a person's posts that was straight up harassment and vile language. I don't enjoy that the general section is the worst section and outside the new player help section probably the main one a new person dips their toes in. Unless they have a very specific interest or complaint. As I don't see as much of the crap you see here. Heck there are days and weeks where I just stay away from this section due to reading some of the thread titles or who's made them. I'm surprised that one thread took so long to be acted on. I guess people just need to report their antics more.

I mean I would feel that support of moderators if they noticed the FYI post 2 posts down that is intended to troll rile up the community and try to make a a movement of discrimination to attack players. It's been up for a while now. This actually shows how bad moderation really is.

Dude, the discord is the most passive thing. Renalt even has it pretty open invite, like people are free to come see for themselves that the stupid bait posts are just full of crap, if the fact that a known troll was posting them wasn't a big enough hint. Yeah we sometimes talk about the forums, but most of the crap we talk about is not even remotely related, and not once has a call to arms to mass report someone we "don't like" happened lmao. It's so silly.

With the continuing number of necro posts and garbage posts from ONE person alone, Id have hoped the mods would finally get a broom.
