If you think this thread was meant to act as a topic of discussion more than it was a thinly veiled attempt at trying to 'poke the bear' for people that simply suggest people try playing other games, then I really don't know what to tell you.

Furthermore, I think the forum moderators are perfectly capable of moderating the forums and don't require your thinly veiled moral grandstanding posts.

I'm sure many people are willing to have fun, though. There's a time and a place for it and not everyone wants a thread to be spammed with the equivalent of 'LOL BURGERZ' each and every time criticism towards the game is raised.

You'd be surprised by just how moderated they are when required. Seeing as threads have been deleted in the past when they do actually infringe on the rules, rather than what some random forum poster thinks their moral grandstanding attempt to achieve by thinking they can try and police random threads.

People will respond accordingly, most especially when the premise of the thread is to effectively 'poke the bear' - There's literally very little in terms of productive discussion that can amount to this thread.

As for myself, assuming that FFXVI doesn't suffer from the same sort of issues that Endwalker had with its story I can easily see it being the sort of game I can sink plenty of hours in and doing multiple playthroughs of. The recent youtube interview with Clive's voice actor sounded reassuring when it comes to the handling of characters and messaging in the game.

That followed by Baldur's Gate 3, and who knows what other rpgs releasing in the leadup to FFVII Remake Part 2 are sure to keep me quite entertained as FFXIV offers little more than Tome Weapons. Though, if what people fear will become of Pandaemonium's ending does come to pass, then I cannot see myself playing a 7.0 that doubles down on all the ridiculous plot twists and animefication of FFXIV's storyline - which attracted me in the first place because it was actually taking itself seriously instead of being so tropey.

I tried to ask Bastet once if they were a real God or not and all I got back was Nya. Before they gave me the same look my cat does when asking for belly rubs. I gave them some side-eye, but didn't want to end up in Duat so I gave them some. Also not surprised at the trying to silence others tactic. As I'm totally sure that the forum needed yet another thread about the same thing. That's from a poster known for making fun of other, meme posting and "shouty" to be taken seriously. Anyways, this always happened at the late patch even on ShB content isn't it? Why surprised, once again?

Me? I'm almost done with all the content minus the Ultimate raid because I don't have patient to get 7 people to raid, so I can go play other games I've been missed on. :D

I was kinda itching to play a WoW private server this weekend but perhaps I'll jump into GW2? I'm in a lull even with my alt right now so trying something fresh sounds good. I'll jump on steam and take a look into it.

Same here, just completed my griffon. Skyscale, next. I'm literally taking a break before I start on that one though. I hear it's a job to do.
I agree - if XIV continues on like this I won't be returning. My sub runs out soon and I probably won't be back until 7.0. If I hear good things.

I don't believe that's how things went down. From what I recall, anyone critical of the game on any front has been attacked across numerous threads and even when they're positive about something they're accused of liking the 'wrong' things.

I believe a certain poster even referred to anyone wanting the Scions to suffer some meaningful consequences as 'psychos', only to screech to the high heavens the moment someone got a bit curt with them in turn.

It's been a common trend for years.

Actually, it's exactly how things went down. The only common trend around here has been the dedicated group of naysayers bashing anyone who dares to actually post something positive about the game on here. Look at any thread that talks about something someone enjoys, and it's practically a guarantee that you'll see several people on the first page attacking them or bashing the game (yourself included). Insinuating that people who agree with him from time to time are his 'groupies' is in itself arguably an insult.

Aveyond can come across as brash at times, though there's just his personality type. Not everybody is going to everybody's cup of tea or even agree with each other all the time. To say nothing of the fact that MMO's, by their very nature, attract players from many different backgrounds, countries and with differing personal tastes.

You didn't even post on the forum until a year ago so I find it very unlikely that you were around to even see the people instigating the long running grudges around these parts and even if you were, you'd no doubt just dismiss any evidence immediately.

The people with concerns towards the game aren't going around sending people death threats and rape threats. Some of the people who can't handle Endwalker being criticised, however, have done so. Though it isn't on the same level as death and rape threats, even some within this very thread have accused anyone who criticises Venat as 'hating women'. I'm tired of pretending as if people don't get outright deranged over this game because they absolutely do - and it's a large reason as to why there's so much 'hostility' around these parts. A lot of us are pretty damn tired of having to walk on eggshells around unhinged nutjobs.

Pretending as if 'both sides' are equally to blame in this case is not only in bad faith it's outright reprehensible.

I thought this was a thread about playing other games. At least that's what I got from the title. Sorry OP is on the list so I don't exactly know the mood of the thread...but given how like every 3 message is blocked...im getting an idea.

However...now I'm going based off the TITLE of said thread...so we can be on topic!

So Churro mentioned GW2 and that sounds like a good idea. I'm kinda in the mood to play any of the free MMOs/private servers. City of Heroes came to mind recently too.

Any other suggestions? Maybe Rift?
