What world are you from? People pay thousands of dollars a month for maids and assistance so they don't have to deal with their own BS. Yes. Customers who can't be bothered to do anything right is 99% of customers. Thats why things are always built to be as easy to use as possible.

That's clearly your fault, you should clean your inventory more often.

You can't ask for anything better because Devs have rought times developing this wonderful and 10/10 game, you should know that we as players should prioritize devs feelings rather than the money in our pockets.

This thread reminds me of the people who complain about capping out their tomestones, because actually going to spend them was too much effort.

The best part about all this: The KEY ITEM INVENTORY IS USELESS.

All of these items required for relic steps ect ect should be key items, i have NEVER in 9+ years of this game, met somebody who has filled even a single page of key items.

I have to know if the OP always forgets to clean out or keep track of their inventory when they choose to partake in something they know or at the very least should know is going to be filling up their inventory. You know like Ocean Fishing, treasure maps, farming Diadem, doing ShB/EW DoL/DoH relic turn ins. Not saying improvements can't be made as some things mostly related to ARR stuff should be put into the key item inventory and not your main inventory. Like the turn in items needed for ARR beast tribes from fates. Though if the devs were to look at making improvements I doubt we'd see them do so anytime soon. As look how long it took them to put ventures into a currency tab.

While we're at it: make all mounts and minions key items that require you go to a specific npc that allows you to trade them. Add in a search feature for ease of access too. And a damn bestiary so we don't have to visit x site to remember which mob drops what. And ffs let us pick and choose what we get from mobs like fisher allows you to pick and choose which fish you do not want by dropping it in some kind of bag/on the ground. We already have coffers and the interface for gathering, surely it can't be hard to do the same for mob drops???????

Fun to see all the little QoL features that SE figured out 20 years ago in FF11 that got lost when they made FF14...

Well the game is more than 10 years old and you need to addon to that as well, come again?

They need to add more retainers I have 10 and there all maxed out with storing mats for crafting and gear glamours.

Between 2 retainers ( if not more ) a chocobo bag ( or two depending ), an FC chest ( i made an FC for the extra space all for me ), and then your inventory on top of all of that...space is plenty.

You are just a pack rat. Craft things and sell them or just sell the mats. Thats what I did after I got everything to 90 and found I just had a ton of junk. Started to just sell everything and by the end of the week I had several million just because of the sheer volume I sold.

For me, it reminds me of the double checkbox for delivering HQ items to Leve Quests and Grand Company. Glad it got removed as soon as it went live.

The warning comes up three times before you run out of space (I think it has sound too but I could be wrong). It would have come up before the end of that fate.

The game also constantly displays the inventory status as a color coded grid on your screen and you can always see the used/unused slots save during cutscenes without even opening your inventory. You can see it fill as you go…

How many more visual queues do you want?

This is the real topic that should be discussed. More items should be placed in the Key Items pocket than there are. Much like the beast tribe tokens, Savage books, extreme totems, 24 man raid coins, all these things should be in the currency tab not the player inventory. Honestly, I think it's a topic worth creating it's own thread for.

It is absolutely ridiculous the vast amount of "currencies" that don't go into the currency tab.

If an item can't be put on the MB, and is the requirement of an exchange with an NPC it should go into the quest items tab or the currency tab.

As I understand it, the key item inventory doesn't actually exist as an inventory. They aren't slots that you can put "real" items in; it just somehow tracks what quests you're doing and the display of key items expands and contracts accordingly.

While it is unlikely in normal gameplay, it seems entirely possible to fill at least two pages of key items and have at least some on the third, if you had the right collection of sidequests with two or three items going into your pack, plus the growing pile of things like hunt bills (four added in each expansion, none removed) and older relic quest key items.

edit: yes, the OP should have managed their inventory better, but come on ... these things are technically quest items. we have so many of these stupid things, and im sure more will be added in the future, clogging precious item spaces. im sure to those who buy retainers inventory isn't an issue, but to those who don't and still want to craft (or other things) inventory becomes a massive issue.

To be fair to OP, there's tons of useless information that keeps popping up in the middle of your screen that you can easily get trained to just tune it out (when your crap sells on the marketboard, when your retainers come back, when your FC finalizes voyages, etc etc). This is especially true when you're zoned out doing something as low-energy as grinding FATEs. Also, I wouldn't call the tiny green dots in the corner of your screen any kind of "warning" its just there... some people don't even know what it's actually indicating.

Depending on what kind of content you do, it can be very easy to fill up your inventory if you aren't constantly sorting and cleaning. It's not uncommon for people to dislike doing inventory management in a video game, so having items lost to the void can absolutely be a commonplace occurrence with some players.

Some people will continue to call it a skill issue because they are used to it and if they are used to it, it's not a problem. But any software designer knows their goal is to design for the lowest common denominator because besides people being dumb or having different intuitions, mistakes happen. It's not hand holding or babying, it's just having a polished product, which 14 is sorely lacking in many areas hence the motif of "it's legacy code" everywhere. Personally, I've come to expect that of this game's devs. They heavily prioritize current quantity over past quality, even if it's systems as core and fundamental as inventory, or glamour. But I'm used to it, and if I'm used to it then it's not a problem. Git gud, OP.

Even if you have retainers all the way to 10, you'll find a lack of space depending on how you use it.
Til a certain point it becomes past the Devs/Games Current Limitations, and the Persons, Personal Limitations.

I would know having Full Retainers, and many of them have things I am selling, or could Mill later for GCs.

It all ends up with what you allow yourself to wind up as.

If I didn't manage my inventory and didn't personally have a good grasp that this idea/topic needs to have an end.

The amount of inventory space in this game is ridiculous... ridiculously high. Toss out your mineral waters or something. This is not something that needs to be addressed. Temporary inventory space might make sense in a game that has much less inventory. There is no need to carry around probably... 90% of what players carry around in their inventory.

One "secret" to lowering your inventory: store it on the MB. See, you list hundreds of items on the MB and you get gil. Those stacks of random crafting materials from 3 expansions ago, that random megalocrab leg that has been lurking on a retainer since 2014... Right, so you "store" it and get gil. Then, maybe at some point in a few years you realize that you want that item back. So you "pay" some gil to take it out of storage (the MB).

Dump your garbage. Someone will buy it.

If that's your inventory, you need to do some materia extraction.
