It's something that if you rush for you'll probably get burned out on, so instead you should sit back until they day comes where you do "Oh hey I have 25k seals and 9 beast tokens."
...
OH WAIT
Seals and tokens are they only reason to do caravans and hamlet content, and relic weapons are the only reason you would want to get seals (beyond maybe some gear) and tokens. So it looks like there's no reason to do half the content except to get relic weapons.
That being said I'm still shooting for mine.
It's a very long and tedious process, i'm not going to loss sleep over not being able to get it before 2.0 as I'm sure there'll be equal or better alternatives come 2.0.
I'll take my sweet time to get it, no rush really, maybe after 2-3 years.
im waiting till 2.0 to even bother and thats if they take out the BS random stuff.
Plan on being smn main so not really interested.
I'll work on them but not gonna get my hopes up of having one right out the gate.
I'm actually more worried that we're getting something like relic at this stage of the game. I can understand that they want to add a long term end-game content. But I always went with the thought that a level increase will eventually happen. And here we are at level 50, which now became the endgame level. Where we gather thousand of different weapons and an almighty one now. "The one weapon that shall rule them all!" Sorry bad pun...
In any case, my worry is that we're going to be stuck with level 50 cap for a long time. Even the luminary items make me worry and the way to achieve them. It's nice and all for now but once that level cap goes up, nobody will bother to try and get the items. Unless they make it so, that the items become more efficient as you level. Basically make them progress alongside your character.
I'd rather have more classes implemented before a level cap raise. Though I understand what you're saying. FFXI's raise in level cap was rather abrupt news and a lot of people thought it destroyed the game because it was brought so long after the cap of 75 was met.
Also note though that Yoshi did say there will be upgrades for relics with level cap raises so I don't necessarily think that it means no level cap raise in the near future. Also for luminary tools the way they are obtained actually encourages a level cap raise, they can make new better tools that are obtained from mining grade 6 and higher nodes with the cap raise.
Yes, but I think it will take me the entire summer just to get 1 weapon.
I will probably wait until 2.0 when content finder is out. Nobody to do hamlets or AV/CC with. Its really hard to get a group to do any of this stuff.
Got to love all the QQ over Relics...... I'll say it over and over there not "AF"... It's hard bc there "RELICS" vere vere vere RARE!!!!!! Hows it a Relic if it's easy to get O.o? If you don't like it then don't get it -_-. There LONG TERM GOALS, it something some one can go "WoW you HAVE A RELIC o.o...CG" not "nice cg iv got 2-3 too >.>" or that nice >.>..... we need to have something that take time and alot of work to get...
The End!
ain't this the truth.
they're not hard to get so far. just have to be very lucky. for example i have two friends that got the double meld weapon first shot and they almost have all the seals and what not. With a little luck on some peoples parts, "nice cg tv got 2-3 too" seems the route thus far. heck, i saw someone yesterday with 3 class weapons already double melded and ready to go. all he needs is to get seal drops and hes good to go.Quote:

I also realize i am saying all this before then next quest portion has been released, however, what we have so far is far from difficulty and effort and much closer to "I hope that 23 or so % is on my side this time."
Double melded my Astrolabe 2nd try last night.
woooooooooooooooooooooot
and 2 LS member slotted their bows
I need to get my friend's screenshot of this amazing find... Of a guy who managed to double-meld an obelisk... And proceeded to explode it trying to triple-meld it?!
I had a sad.
Could of been that he had two single melded ones and he got success on the first and pushed his luck on the second. Not uncommon. I used to do 5 or more double meld tries, get success early on and proceed to blow up the rest with no luck. I actually tricked a friend into thinking I x4 melded a pair of Cobalt Claws+1 then blew 'em up on the 5th try when I actually just melded four +1 claws and failed the first double meld, lol. Good times.
I'm sure I'll try to get one at some point... not for a while though.
This is definitely real hardcore content -- and while I don't consider myself a casual player, I'm not on nearly enough to work through all that anytime soon.
I'll make a solid attempt at it. It's pretty simple compared to XI's relic system (pre being able to solo dyna)
I'm not really arguing for the case, but people could want to actually use those class only weapons and a rich enough player might want a triple meld it to make it stronger or just to show off.
Alternatively you don't really need a real reason.
But I digress, that really wasn't the point of my first post.
Notice also that in Amy's example she was talking about a Cobalt Claws+1, which is clearly not an Avengers.
She was just mentioning a nice story that is not exactly about the relics but related to the 'false multimeld' log output (which can be defacto confusing if you work that way, yes!)
I can see later down the line that there will be leaser relic like weapons. Like in 11 they made Mystic's then there was Abyssea weapon's. It got easier right after the other just you watch we'll end up with weaker type relics. But some way they be good in there own right. Just you see i betcha.
You have no idea what you're talking about. For example, I work 60 hours a week average, and regularly go hiking / play sports / get drunk on weekends. I fit right into your "2hr play time per day" example, but without the weekend. I'll be going for WHM relic. Already started, actually. Sure, it'll take months, but these weapons are supposed to be long-term goals.
In fact, I'm insulted by your generalization that anyone going after these goals must have no real life or real job. I'd tell you what my job is, but you wouldn't believe me anyway.
I avg. about 4hrs a day and it still feels a bit overwhelming, but I also know this is a long term content, so I'm not all that uptight about it. =) 8.3k seals in out of 25k >.< LOL.
Based on my gut feeling and read of this development team, I think it would be somewhat a waste to pursue a relic, unless you really have a lot of time to play. They just keep introducing new weapons and with materia you can really max out your character with a little patience/luck. Plus, I believe yoshi will have level cap raises pretty frequently once 2.0 kicks off, so it is likely relics will be a grind to maintain their probably (marginally) superior stats. But I guess it depends on your perspective. To me the investment isn't worth it.
