ARR Relic Kettle isn't Hildebrand. It's the ARR 2.0 Relic Quest.

Yeah... really weird choice. Would have much preferred another Eureka/Bozja over .... this. Why did it have to be the 2nd worst NPC in the game?..
Yeah forum posted it before I finished typing.Quote:

I think a lot of people have a pretty good sense of humour and don't mind playful antics from time to time. Yet Hildibrand is a very divisive type of comedy that does not necessarily translate well across different cultures.
Furthermore, since they're being tied to another aspect of the game many of us were looking forward to...it's completely understandable why people are speaking up on the subject.
I do not think that word means, what you think it means....Quote:
divisive
This whole thread boils down to: It's ok if you don't like this content or Hildebrand. Plenty of people disliked Bozja and Eureka as well. They can't make everyone happy all the time. Personally I'm excited to see what Eorzea's greatest blacksmith and goldsmith will bring.
I think I understand the definition rather well, actually. Furthermore, there's numerous responses to this very thread that prove it to be just that - divisive.
Though I imagine certain posters will embrace their typical modus operandi of drifting from thread to thread to declare that any feedback whatsoever is merely a minority and attempt to stifle it.

IT IS a tiny minority. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it is. This forum is a miniscule microcosm that thinks it speaks for the majorityQuote:
is merely a minority
WHICH IT DOES NOT
At first I wasn't sure, but I guess it makes sense for Godbert to be involved in creating weapons. This requirement will help boost participation in Hildibrand trials such as Kugane Ohashi. You can think of the long Hildibrand series like part of the weapon grind.
So were the Yo-Kai weapons.
Whats your point?
From what I've seen the people who think they speak for the majority are those who insist of trying to stifle any and all feedback that they disagree with by declaring it to be nothing more than a vocal minority.
You're very welcome to agree to disagree. Though I'm not sure what benefit there is in trying to police what feedback players can post here.
I only ever hear you and some others like you screaming that we think it represents a majority.
No social media site related to XIV represents anything but a tiny minority, and based on thread engagement metrics (as opposed to that total figure it sticks on the side), that includes Reddit. This is a site which the devs encourage us to use to voice our feedback. Any site they use to obtain it from is a "minority" - so not sure what your point here is.
Screeching non stop about this not being a "majority" isn't going to deter anyone here. Sorry to burst your bubble.
I don't expect them to be joke weapons they'll be relics and the grind associated with them will probably be standard fare. People complained about Eureka and Bozja so we're getting something new. I think it's a good idea to wait to hear more before writing them off as joke weapons. I suspect we'll be getting the same complaints at some point that the quest line is too grindy but I might be wrong.
If it's farming old content I'll probably just do relic on my main and skip it on my alts. This is coming from someone with 12 Cerebus mounts.
Would I? Would I really?
Nah i dont think i would, I think Id look at it, consider it, then decide whether or not to do it now, later, or never and then move on. Did a tiny bit of Bozja and then said nah never mind, did some of the old ARR relic quests, and didnt worry with the rest.
I do what suits me. Plenty to do elsewhere, I stopped having stress over video game stuff, the same time I let go of a lot of other things that i realised mattered very little..or not at all...in the long term.
Some people take this game far, far too seriously.
Are these going to be the relic weapons or are they a separate thing?
Not looking to 'deter" anyone, just being well aware that this forum is not a representative sample of the playerbase as a whole.Quote:

Which it isnt.
RyuDragnier is the more neutral voice in this thread so far and you're putting on an antagonistic tone even for them, lol. Looking for fights?
I'm not going to scream on top of my lungs over the decision, because TBH I don't plan on touching Relic Weapons for a long while anyway. I do find it odd honestly. I don't mind the existence of Hildibrand. It didn't look like it's for me, so I didn't do it. Easy peasy. I guess there is some precedent for jokey quests being connected to Relic Weapons as I was told earlier in the thread... but this is uh, a bit much, no? If it's supposed to be light-hearted, why connect a legendary powerful weapon to it? People already didn't enjoy sitting through Ivalice content to reach Bozja when they didn't play in Stormblood - starting from ARR questlines is way more than that. IDK. If you like the quest chain, really, no problem. Even if I could bear the humour I hate unvoiced yet important cutscenes... looking at you, Ivalice. Seeing people clown and dance about while there's literally no sound coming from their mouth? Seems too awkward to me.
Oh no. I get to have fun before grinding till I'm bored out of my mind? In a game that's meant to entertain? Oh noooo.
This forum, I swear. lol
I don't think that's true at all. I've been posting here for quite some time and it's certainly been a mixed bag at times though I've met many wonderful individuals by coming here and engaging in debates and discussions about various aspects of the game. It's unfortunate if your experience has been different.

I'm really excited for this. It's not like the relic line hasn't gone silly before. There was the kettle quest in ARR. This will breathe new life into the associated trials. And anyone who doesn't like the story can skip cutscenes.
Using this questline means they can spread upgrades over a variety of content, too. We haven't seen anything official that it won't be locked away in some adventure zone, but since we haven't heard a peep about a new one for relics, that gives me hope they've left that idea behind. A new adventure zone on its own merits is fine.
Almost like people have differing ideas on what is 'fun'.

A lot of hildibrand content is condensed into cutscenes so it is relatively easy to skip through if that's not your kind of humor.
I see where you're coming from and do not disagree, to an extent. I've met all kinds of players here and have had great discussions. I can't deny though that a lot of the threads are usually super negative, especially on patch and PLL days. I don't expect everyone to like everything they release (lord knows I don't), so it's fine that people dislike the idea of this content or hate it when it comes out. Just saying there is always a lot of negativity on the forums, that's all.
Yeah! Exactly! Both bubbles are optional, but one is for people who just wanna have a good laugh, and the other is for people who want shiny boomstick! Normally, people with shiny boomsticks do not laugh.
Also, how can we go from deep emotional story of Borja to a highlander in underwear?
I love this idea but dear lawd forbid we have fun I guess.
In the end of the day it's a narrative driven game and it really doesn't take long at all to skip if you don't want to actually do it.
You also have like two months to do it.....
You can't do it in two months?
This is true too, I personally love Eureka and Bozja ( altho Bozja's zones were a bit repetitive, but the raids and fate bosses were great ).
You have a ton of different ways to get weapons in the game too, relic weapons are one way.
It's literally impossible for them to make everyone happy, but I really like that we're getting something a bit more fun this time around.
Not everything in the game needs to be super depressing or all about the horrors of war etc.
And if people don't like it they can skip too.
I mean people complain about Eureka and Bozja, then they do something different and people STILL complain.
There's just no winning for them here.
It depends on the design of the weapons. If they're just clown weapons in design, I'll skip it altogether. If they're decent and can be grinded using roulettes etc., fine, then it's just a pity that any associated content won't be of much interest to me.
The way relics usually go is they're part of some questline, but then they have you do a bunch of random odds and ends to get parts for it. Run raids, dungeons, FATEs, etc etc until you have enough of the part, then hand it in and the weapon is created. It being attached to Hildibrand likely won't mess with the formula, but you can expect to see some funny designs and possibly a goofy cutscene when they make it.
