So long as they don't do world transfers and rmts just come in and take over the new market a fresh server would be nice. It has to be restricted to new characters though or it just gives elites a chance to take advantage of the fresh world. I for one would be interested in trying it out but would still hold dear to my Masamune characters. Refreshing current servers and characterss in anyway is just a bad idea. Hard work flushed away would upset A LOT of people.
If I remember it right, SE want to make it that old chars can't transfer to the new worlds at the beginning. Maybe 1 year after.
if they gonna wipe thing in 2.0... there's no point for us to still keep playing this game.
Yoshi-p already confirmed that there's no reset in 2.0 so.... go back and play Diablo 3 dude!
I would start a new character but that would mean I have to collect all the subligar again... /sigh
Oh well that means I will have double the subligar with both characters so that's a good thing I guess...
Nope not losing years of work.
Staying on the server I've been with since day 1. Not giving up all that. ^^
There's always room for Doubligar!
As for fresh start servers, I may start a character up and see how to goes but whether or not I'd move my main over at a later day would all depend on how the community was on said server. I've rerolled more times in the past than I can shake a stick at so I know how starting from 0 feels haha, and being here since day one also.
Why not divide everyones currency by a certain set amount in accordance with any changes in overall item prices?
So say they change the economy to where 100k is the new 1mil, they should cut peoples money accordingly so they aren't overly wealthy.
Taking all of their money would be detrimental to the player base though. Not only would higher level characters have nothing to work with, but anyone with over 5mil would be pissed.
But if suddenly everything in the game economy were tweaked and lowered to say 1/2 of the current values, the 50 mil you had would double in value.
Thats a bit ridiculous ;x
If they did cut ingame item prices to re-establish a base or whatever, and also cut your money by the same percentage they tweaked the original prices, you would still have your money technically, just it would read a bit smaller.
Its the players that make the prices in the wards, no one else. . . and what difference does it matter? There's always going to be people that make tons of gil and this is inevitable.
We do not play MMOs to have our progress cut because someone feels that people are too far ahead.
I'll be giving it a try. It should be fun to see new people though I was actually hoping to have the new people come to us rather than requiring that we go to them. But I suppose that would be impossible unless they're given some sort of incentive to start on the old servers. It feels kind of boring without fresh blood.
I have no desire to "Start over" or give anything up. I've invested time and effort into both of my characters. No fresh start for me.
Honestly this should not even be an issue. It takes no time at all to earn gill, and with the exception of Darklight and the new hard to craft armor, not very much is out of the realm of affordability.
If you want something it does NOT take much time to either a) Craft it b) farm it or c) buy it. New players will not be at any disadvantage and will in no time be on the same level field as most of us. There is NO reason what so ever under the sun moon and stars to wipe the economy.
Wait, this thread is about "New servers will be open for players looking for a fresh start..." wth is everyone arguing about a wipe for then? This thread isn't about the other servers and of course ppl shouldn't lose all their gil/items/lvls. This thread is about fresh start servers.
If they do make a fresh start server where everyone that wants to be on the server needs to create a new char and start at base everything I think it would be awesome. I like the idea of trying shape a new world after the devs have made proper adjustments to the game.
I kind of understand where you are coming from, but at the same time deleting everyone's hard earned gil just because new players might be joining is a pretty awful thing to do to loyal players who have stuck with the game since it launched despite all it's flaws. It would be like shutting down FFXI just because FFXIV is coming out and saying if they want to keep playing final fantasy online, they should just buy the new game.
One of those rare times I must agree with TheVedis. One of the major selling point for staying with the game was the promise that we would be able to retain our full character developement into Ver 2.0. With that in mind I will opt out of a restart. Will be interesting to see how they handle these 2 sets of characters when they institute their Global world concept for Instance Raids.
hopefully they cancel transfer to worlds for the first 2 years or so... only transfer btw the new worlds.
3-6 months is a good time to restrict transfers, 2 years is far too much
I say 2 years because of the economy, and how much gil is currently in the game already... imagine that after 3-6 months gil will still b an issue...
when u open the transfer it means loaded RMT's and loaded players bringing the economy up and probably imposible to be in for most players.
Doesn't matter, in most MMO's of played when I was younger, new servers had a restricted transfer of either 3, 4 or 6 months.
2 years is a stupid amount of time, how would you feel if a RL friend played on a diff server and u couldn't join them? Would you rather play on a different server for 3 months and transfer or restart a new char or wait for 2 years?
