Getting an Error at launcher bootup

Ugh, I want to cry. After about 50 retries, I got a login prompt and typed my password wrong. Now I'm back to the same problem.

Unfortunately this isn't the issue, considering myself and several others definitely have subs that aren't on the Free Trial, and probably haven't been in the the last few years. Glad to see it worked for you though!

I still had some time left, but it was like only 4 days left. I just added another 30 days, so I guess I just wait and see if that fixes it.

No etc folder, no free trials. Been sub for around 6 months. If somebody can shed some light on this

A few hours ago was normal, but now i'm getting the error on the laucher.
I use the steam version

I don't have folders with that name...

Summer sales overloaded steam. Technically you can try to login with spamming the cogwheel until it shows something otherwise you'll have to wait it out.

It isn't a problem on your end.

Edit:

Spam the cogwheel in the upper right of the launcher, then hit the back arrow to go back to login. Repeat this process until you get the login field.

I don't think you were having the same problem that everyone else is having, but thank you for the encouragement :3

This is almost certainly due to an outage in Steam. See: https://steamstat.us/ Steam Web API is down, and I'm sure that's how SE is validating our licenses are real. I suspect this will continue until Steam Web API is back up.

Updated my prior post. It isn't a user problem, just do what I posted in bold until steam calms down.

I just refreshed the launcher by clicking on (config) and (home) a few times and I was able to login.
Didn’t need to uninstall the game.

I just got in after about 15 mins of trying.

As stated before, you don’t have to quit and reload the launcher, you can keep refreshing it by clicking the cog on the right, and then clicking Home. Repeat till login appears.

Also to avoid this happening again today, I might have to find a place to afk while I’m away instead of logging out. It’s going to be wild come evening prime time.

The workaround requires some pretty lucky timing. I've been doing it since you posted with no luck. While it might be helpful for some, it's not going to work for everyone.

I am aware. It's better than nothing though since I did see that initial post with the blue launcher. Of course none of this would be a problem to begin with if it wasn't for that unnecessary integration.

It took me about 7 tries, another user said it took them almost 30 tries.

Just make sure you get everything you want done before logging off.

oh sry , i hadnt checked the previous posts , With this solution, my problem was solved, ty :D

It's not really a workaround, if you need time. Time that noch everyone has. For me it's 9:30pm and I need to go to bed in a few minutes. It's a complete loss for me today and I'm not sure if it will be fixed tomorrow cause it is friday then

And while I'm tipping this, I got the login screen^-^''
I really hope that SE will give us the chance to switch from Steam to their launcher. I even would pay something so I could do it

Because it's not a local issue. Steam is just overloaded in this case due to the steam summer sales. If you can open the launcher and get the error to try again later, just repeatedly hit the cogwheel and back arrow to refresh the login until it shows up. That's all you can really do in this instance.
