I wouldn't go back to wow even if they paid me.
I wouldn't go back to wow even if they paid me.
I didn't play wow that long
big snooze for me in gameplay and aesthetic
musics cool tho
No.
I very much appreciate the ability to own a house in pretty much any game that has it available. Though in itself it wouldn't be enough to lure me back to WoW. I left for many reasons and have zero confidence in the game going back to the same style as the 'good old days'.
There are things that I miss such as my Blood Elf Warlock and Night Elf Warrior. Yet the story elements and characters I enjoyed have long since been irreversibly tarnished.
If it's just housing itself, no. If it's housing plus positive changes across the board, maybe. It really depends on how they implement it.
An example would be if they added housing the way Istaria did, vast areas of the game map designated for housing and left as barren, empty plots for anyone to buy and build on then it would be a firm no. The same no applies to FFXIV's housing districts and either the old system or the new lottery system.
If it was more akin to BDO's, ESO's or a similarly phased system within the world but without the added competition then my answer would be changed to a maybe. From there it would depend on how detailed they make it regarding decoration.
Ship sailed for me in BFA. Took a break from here to play the end of legion and beginning of BFA and realized it isn't the same game I enjoyed back in TBC, Wrath, and MoP. There is nothing that Blizz can do or change to make me want to play it again.
ESO and Wildstar housing are/were some of the best MMO housing I've experienced.
I have to add City of Heroes/Villains as well.
Although it wasn't really houses, but headquarters for your Super Hero/Villain guilds you could build rooms, corridors and add stuff to them.
And they also acted as playgrounds for guild vs guild fights where one invaded and the others had to defend it.
Was really fun and the bases could look quite different from one another.
Activision-Blizzard will have to pay me to play their godawful excuse of a game.
Tbh I've been on n off with wow for a few years now so it's not gonna bother me ill enjoy what comes n goes and that'll be that
Why would I voluntarily move to the ghetto
Housing? No.
If they fixed the game, made it far more enjoyable, and opened up the ridiculous class/race locking I'd be interested in coming back. Still want my demon hunter orc.
What is wow?
I haven’t played any recent WoW version (well, except for classic for like two months a couple years ago) since the tail end of 5.4 of that game, which were around 2013 somewhere iirc.
Blizzard would need to change a whole lot more than just that to get me back at this point, especially with what I’ve been hearing from people still into it what the game and its community is now like.
Never played it before and don't really see any reason to, honestly.
I stopped playing wow because the entire game was frustrating and unfun to play. If I was that concerned with having a "house" to hang out with friends I'd go back to Gaia Online.
Housing on its own wouldn't get *me* back, but if done right it could attract the people that "made WoW better" for me. These are non-FF fans that will never convert to FFXIV, that love housing, and have investment in WoW. If my gang comes back, yeah I'd probably re-sub if there were fun things to do with them. Hanging out in really good houses with them would count.
What would get *me* back?... I mean I have deep wishlist items but they basically add up to "I have trusts and duty support over here, top that and we'll talk." They'd need to go deep on time-ownership (hard to top trusts and duty support on that front) and character concept expression, but given their obsession with "the world is the main character," I don't see the degree of conceptual expression I'd need happening in WoW.
If the developers continue the trend of homogenizing classes and make excuses, I'll definitely look for another MMO.
That said housing is just a small reason why.
Housing would tempt me a lot, I just won't make it my main MMO. Just anything that isn't "Raid or die" would help a lot.
My reasons for leaving WoW are a list as long as my arm. I also play this game for different reasons than I played WoW.
Never played WoW before, doesn’t look that interesting to me, not interested, aint gonna start playing it so no. ffxiv is love, ffxiv is life xD
As a player since the Burning Crusade, I have to say that if they added Housing, of course I would play again, in addition to paying monthly fees forever, for me, having a house is a great attraction in the game if they also let me customize it myself taste with purchasable objects or even, objects that are achieved by overcoming almost impossible challenges, it is the only thing that would make me return to WoW and leave FFXlV, because come on, WoW has a very long list of things that they do wrong and that has been happening lately with their scandals, but I would pay a monthly fee to have a house, with FFXIV at the moment that I do not have challenges and I do not have my house, I will not continue paying a monthly fee and I will go to other games, with this I mean that, at this precise moment, at least On my server, there are still more than 60 free plots for FC, while for private purchases there are few V_V
Housing would be nice for a start , but less pointless and overcomplicated systems are more needed. If they would added token system from Wotlk it would be perfect for me .
Absolutely not
They've got too many years of bizarre choices and fun sucking changes piled on for anything short of a miracle to get me playing that game again
i had house 2 times , i guess doesnt matter they were small ones , but totally not for me . if someone is new to housing , they should know how much time consuming is it to have one and taking care of it , because anyway it would be a just dead house . and im sure i would found many of those where garden looks similar to others and inside .. apartments with some gardening stuff or option to buy for 1 mil two rooms since many rooms are still empty ... this feel its always same people to me talking about housing
Nothing short of a complete change of direction from Blizzard would convince me to - even if they were releasing WoW 2.0.
Housing doesn't motivate me to play any game, it's not for me.
I once wanted to dip my toe into WoW out of curiosity, but not anymore with how much of a shitstorm that game/company has become recently.
There's no way. WoW is far too gone.
I lasted all of three months in WoW near the end of MoP. It just did not do it for me. While there are certain features that I wish FF:XIV would borrow this game is a much better fit for me than WoW ever could be. It would take a hell of a lot more than a first class housing system to draw me back there.
Frankly i tried to play again last week and the game is so lack luster in term of finition i just couldn't bear with it.
Outdated casting FX not even consistent with the clunky animation, it look awfull most of the time you do anything.
Honourable mention for the ugly priest bubble FX that survive for 17 years :D
For me this kind of "detail" show how the dev team care about their game.
Maybe not WoW, but I would drop XIV in a heartbeat and go back to XI if that got itself a reboot of sorts, even just a graphical upgrade and maybe a hotbar system. Idc what ppl say (most of which complain yet have never even played XI) but XI was leaps and bounds better in many many ways. It was simply just too slow and too difficult for many ppl, esp when it comes to XIV players.
That being said I have been tempted to try out WoW since I have never really given it a good go and due to the state and trajectory XIV is moving in. It will be interesting to see what happens with it now that Blizz had such a gigantic shake up.
Graphics style is on purpose, not outdated.
It's lined up to look a lot like the RTS games, which were in themselves, very cartoony. it was a deliberate design choice.
There are no more alignment specific classes. There are still race restrictions but honestly, they're not bad. I've seen worse.
And no, it does not have housing. it's got shitty garrisons, which are more like a functioning fort, but not anything close to personal, customizable, housing.
I might go check it out at the launch of the new expansion as I always do, but I won't count on it as being a guarantee.
WoW was once a great game. It is no longer. WoW's design priorities are pretty clearly focused on competitive gaming and e-sports in general. Yes, there is some casual content but it is so slapdash and lazy, it's obviously an afterthought only there to keep some casual subscriptions going and boost up those sweet sweet MAU numbers.
Housing, at least the type of housing that folks want, is pretty much the opposite of competitive content, and also will require a massive effort to implement properly. Given the current development team, and Activision-Blizzard's clear design priorities... Well, let's just say that if Housing does get implemented for the next expansion, it will almost certainly be tied to player power in some fashion. The folks that want it will hate that, and the competitive/M+ types will hate it too since they'll feel compelled to engage in it. So housing will end up angering practically everyone.
WoW is surviving right now on the hopelessly addicted. I'm not saying that everyone who plays is addicted but most are.
So to answer the question asked in the thread... no. Unless there's a massive shakeup in the development team. Which I don't see happening.
I prefer Everquest 2's housing and I feel a lot of people here would love it.
People would use existing items to build structures, like turning bookcases around and making walls or partitions, I made aquariums out of watery mirrors and pillars. You could full XYZ rotate and levitate objects as well as scale their size up when placing them. Placing was more precise, there were no stupid restrictions that you had to glitch around. It was bloody PERFECT.
Too bad the rest of the game is kinda bad now. I looked into getting back into it but they fully embraced the obnoxious f2p system and combat is overly complicated and I just couldn't after 12 years off. Sad, I met my husband there almost 18 years ago now.
I rly think people severely overestimate how many people care about the housing stuff.
It's cool bonus content but I don't think it's some kind of a deciding factor for all that many people, and I also don't think it's why people left WoW.
Also.
If WoW added housing they'd probably add some kind of a grind to it lol.
I just imagine them adding it and tying it to some convoluted and tedious system or new Covenant.
If I saw that they were adding housing the first thing that would enter my mind is '' what's the catch '', I also just think that the devs approach the game very differently than the FFXIV devs.
FFXIV has more of an emphasis on the RP side and activities outside the game being a combat simulator.
WoW is more about excuses to get to go out and kill stuff.
It's designed for much shorter attention spans.
Not only competitive gaming but also for players, who do not care about the game.
Asmongold has made a reaction video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hpl_3BDihE
He said, that the game has no PvP vendors because Blizzard is afraid, that the players would not find them etc. This video is worth watching about the current state of the game. :)
Cheers
