The dumb hunched stance doesn't help either. Literally no one asked for them to be like that.

I'll be honest, I'm surprised. I was hesitant of posting this thread and refrained from checking up on it because I thought it would be full of people who were outraged by it. Even to those who don't play either Viera or Hrothgar, voicing your opinion on the matter is really helpful. Also, props to bringing up the achievement hats we can't wear, I didn't even think of that but it's a very good point.
I'm sorry I didn't bring this up, I did get tunnel vision when ranting about the Viera (Happens a lot). I hope the Hrothgar receive this much needed change in 6.1!
Completely forgot about Yoshi saying this, thank you for reminding me. I hope he keeps to his word and doesn't create anymore unnecessary races. But we still have female Hrothgar to go so I can only hope the current races situation gets fixed before SE start working on female Hrothgar.
As someone said previously on this forum, if we get race-exclusive hairstyles the developers would have more freedom to include more with diadems & viera-themed accessories, which would make a significant difference to our outfits so it would give us more of a variety. Who knows, maybe they could bring in a hairstyle for Viera that has a RDM-esque hat fixed on it? The list of possibilities are endless in what we could receive in compensation for lack of headgear. I do understand why race-lock wouldn't appeal to most people, but as said in my OG post, SE originally created Hrothgar and Viera to be race locked and have a distinctive identity... Whether or not SE continue to plan on doing so, no one really knows, time will tell.
Wheres hrothgar mommies.
Now, thats what he said, buuut he may go back on it if he finds a race interesting enough to add or if there is enough of a community outcry for a new race. Lupin's are a possibility, I know people wanted the Ivalician moogles as a playable race, I know some people want the lopporites as a playable race, I *really* want the original concept for Au Ra to be a playable race. The males looked more like dragons and the females looked more like demons...aaaa I can't get over how good that looked
Also, please SE. Get rid of the hunch...I know thats a common trope in MMOs to show that the more beast time races are "savage" and "tribal" but I think the only other race in the game with a hunch are the ixials...but they stand more straight than Hrothgar do. The Amal'jaa dont hunch, neither do the lupins, or the namazu, or the....turtles (it would be silly if they did since they still have a shell >->), the moogles def dont hunch (but they're too small to hunch). Literally no other beast tribe hunches, so why do Hroth's have to hunch. Them walking/ running makes my neck hurt
Inb4 Fem hroths dont hunch over compared to their male counterparts....I will be so disappointed at the weird sexual dimorphism trait of the hunch
There are tons of helmets in this game that work on Hrothgar, but don't work on viera. Just let the helmets work and players can assume their bunnies ears are cramped into the helmet. As for certain hats, yes some may never work but others can easily work (bandanas and helms for example) and just have the ears poking out. The new Reaper AF gear is a perfect example of a hat working with the ears poking out just fine as well as previous hoods that show on viera.
I think one of the main issues with showing headgear are the viera hairstyles clipping with the hat equipped. I think the easiest solution is to just "crop" the hair out and display the headgear with the ears clipping through.
I know these hairstyles are kinda not 100% great examples for Viera
But Tactics had some great designs regardless
I would like to see more viera specific hairstyles (as well as reward & mog station hairs)
but for the best result I think we should band together & ask for Viera specific hairstyles
I don't mind clipping, I don't wear clothes that clip
I play a miqo so don't mind my tail even if it does clip
Long hair please

He was the only one to look that good. lol That screenshot on the left was also taken from a CGI cutscene. This image I provided above is what just about every other male Ronso looked like except the elder.
https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Ronso
Not that I would complain if we could make something more similar to him though.
It would have been nice to have a Khimari outfit for its race gear like the Viera did with Fran
I don't thinik viera and hrothgar are low priority at all! Viera just got extra hairstyles, and hrothgar is confirmed to get more hairstyles on 6.1 and beyond, possibly viera will get the rest of the hairstyles as well. This is already content they put on endwalker and confirmed to expand on patches. So it is, in fact, a priority for endwalker.
Also, I personally would much prefer the new races to get all of the hairstyles available ingame (eventually) than for them to get race-specific hairstyles, of which they already have a lot. I could easily see people being mad they didn't include the existing unlockable hairstyles if they only added new race-specific ones, and I could also easily see female vieras being mad they didn't also get the race specific male viera hairstyles they could add, so adding the rest of the existing ones just makes everyone happier.
Not having hats isn't that bad for me, personally, as I only ever use glasses, horns, or flowers on my hair. Even when I was a highlander. Hairstyle options are way more important beacause they are what will enable vieras and hrothgars to look more unique amongst eachother.
Honestly, I'm pretty much the target audience for hrothgar... and I grew up with FFX. In my eyes hrothgars are way prettier and cuter than ronso. The bad posture isn't a dealbreaker for everyone. Maybe you'd like this ronso more if you don't care if your character is pretty.
I'm sorry, I probably worded my previous comments confusingly - I'll try and elaborate what I want to say but in more detail.
The ideal situation in my opinion is; Viera need to have a pro and con, the pro being we get all the unlockable styles in the game as well as more race-exclusive hairstyles on top of that, but the con being we still can't wear majority of helmets and hats. The new race-exclusive hairstyle would be a compensation for lack of headgear. And considering SE are even in this expansion keeping headgear from us, my theory is this was SE's original plan... Not sure if it's still the case though.
If the other races got access to the new exclusive viera hair, it would be unfair on us and would result in Viera being a 'con-con' situation, as in very limited headgear and nothing to compensate for it. So, we would still be suffering from the whole "Viera still have almost no headgear" situation while the other races get everything we have.
I would prefer to not have the hunch, absolutely (at least as an option). And I definitely want more wearable hats/headgear, as well as more hairstyles and the ability to change them without Fantasia. That said... as someone who loved FFX and thought Kimarhi was the coolest character - one of the reasons I was so hyped when Hrothgar were announced - I like the *aesthetic* of FFXIV Hrothgar more. And nothing could be more subjective than the subject of aesthetics, I realize, but I like the look of my Hrothgar better than that CGI Kimarhi and definitely more than those in-game-graphic Ronsos. Although all the little details on those outfits would make for an awesome glam (as someone said)
Another little detail that has bothered me with the Hrothgar. I think the hair color should change the color of the tail tip/tuft (if that sort of tail is selected), while the tail's main fur color should be the same color as the main (presumably fur-covered) body color. It's a minor thing, that I get around by using stripes, but it would make much more sense to me (e.g. If I have a Hrothgar that is blue with white hair, and he has a lion-like tail, that tail should be blue with a white tuft)
I just hope they get more hairs and honestly if they hairstyles are good enough, people won't want to cover them up.
Longer tails, and not so stocky. I really hope the females don't stand like a butch woman.
I don’t mind the hunch on the Hrothgar, it invokes a more beastial appearance. Though I do think a toggle would be very nice to be able to change that posture. They did it with Orcs.
I really like all of these especially the second one with orange and the purple
+1 Viera and Hrothgar are mostly ignored and I for one would like further clarification on the direction Yoshi-P plans to take these races and what kind of updates can we see
I was a hrothgar since Shadowbringers and only recently became elezen because hrothgar have gotten zero updates at all, only word on possible updates but with anything relevant everyone has been in the dark
It halfway feels like they are milking the lack of updates for these races so people will keep using fantasia
Please give Viera more Viera-like hairstyles - with the viera tiaras and long, wild hair (to further help without the need for hats, give them better hair than what they have)
Please, PLEASE shed more light on plans to fix hrothgar
Update: potential inspiration for developers.

I found this photo on HeyMcfly's forum post. They have a megathread on hairstyles and I just love this photo - SquareEnix could really gather so much inspiration from their thread.
Mjrn's hairstyle from XII would be easy to bring in due to no threat of clipping. I guess Jote's one is like a Viera hairstyle we have now only much less puffier.
I only went back to Miqo'te cause literally ALL of the in Game available Hairstyles for male Viera look feminin. The only one that doesnt is from the Shop and it only fits certain glamthemes.
I thought about this... First of they need to actually design the hat-friendly version of hairstyles for the Viera exclusive hairs.
With that, it would be possible to unlock many more head items, most of them just letting the ears clip through, like simple bandanas, caps, pot helms.
I do agree that there are some items that would be impossible to adapt to Viera because the item layout would clip horribly with the way our ears are positioned on the head, but it would be nice if, knowing this issue, they could see to at least adapt one of each basic shape, like you suggested, one cowboy hat... one pointy wizard hat, etc.
Realistically, I feel like bringing all the aesthetician hairstyles to viera is a more reasonable ask than completely new styles that could only be used on one race and one gender. Just my feeling on the matter.
As for the hats topic. It may be almost cliche at this point, but modders have done it. Able to turn hats on and off with the changing of a checkbox in the item metadata. Not all of them are gonna look right, with how viera ears float on the head, but a majority do. On top of that, they've also created hat compatible versions of base hairstyles.
So it's not impossible, it was just most likely work that was instead sacrificed at the alter of the MSQ. (In favor of the MSQ and other major features)
Mjrn's hairstyle would be gold. I dislike how 2B hairstyle, which is a bob, looks because (besides the awful hairbandbutchering) you can't see the face of the character. It sits like a helmet a bit. I just want some softer hairstyles, some waves. With that said, I don't think they will bring in more raceexclusive hairstyles. as someone else said it is probably easier to adapt existing hairstyles than make new ones, even with inspiration.
I'll also add another bit to my comment. The issue is, SE have already said that that their plan is to give Viera more exclusive hairstyles in 2019, but they haven't said since if its still their plan or not. Going back on their word without a new plan to make up for the limitations is unprofessional, especially considering how much profit they made from people using fantasias to switch from Viera to another race and vice a versa. I do not believe for one second that SE would publicly announce a plan on V/H and then scrap it for the sake of "they can just stay a limited race." It doesn't sit right with me.
The Hrothgar and Viera players do not deserve to stay a limited race. The only way I would deem this fair is if SE somehow managed to fix the achievement hats as well as the job hats to our character. Obviously, if they're not doing that with majority of hats in EW then I expect them to continue with their word and give the races something that makes them more appealing/worth sticking out. Otherwise, what is the genuine point of playing as Viera other than for the appearance? The lack of hats is a major downside and we still don't know if all the modern aesthetics will work on us.
As a player who has only ever played Viera and whose SO only played Hrothgar, it’s literally a dream of ours to have something, anything. I shouldn’t have to leave so many of my glams with empty helmet slots because the few options we have are either getting repetitive (I’ve used the flower crown more times than I can count, and I’ve used silly horns so often because I just wanted to wear something cool) or just aren’t excited at all, ie a few goggles, masks, etc. I forgive and excuse all the past items, but after implementing these two races, there is NO reason to continue making set after set and excluding us.
They can continue with the pandemic excuse of limited resources for a long time. If you look at what came out in EW alot of it was just reskins of already existing gear, for instance. I imagine that for now anything "new" will be limited since it requires more resources. Is it right? No, ofcourse not. We deserve better. But 6 hairstyles after 2 years, and specifically THOSE hairstyles, say alot. I am curious what 6.1 brings, since it is supposed to be an update for hrothgar. I hope viera also get an update then.
Unpopular opinion, but it also doesn't help that they spent a considerable amount of time creating male Viera, instead of fixing the issues with female Viera and male Hrothgar. There was no urgency for male Viera, we could have waited 2+ years without them. SE can hide behind the "its a pandemic" excuse but it's long worn out because it's evident they prioritised a races' gender counterpart instead of working on the ones we already have. I'm curious what 6.1 will bring us, but if SE manage to fix Hrothgars ridiculous 'fantasia to change haircut' issue then that'll at least gain them some credit for actually trying to make our situation better.
I wish we at least got the few "unlockable" hairstyles that other races have. I don't want anything unique or special, just give me a regular haircut with some space for the bunny ears.
For example, when I started playing I was absolutely in love with the "form and function" hairstyle and went to buy it off the board once I had enough saved up. Not a nice surprise that the race I bought Shadowbringers for, a couple months before EW, magically didn't support that.
It shouldn't be an unpopular opinion, because it is an accurate point
The time making male viera should have been put into fixing & adding Viera specific hairstyles to female viera- then releasing male viera much later- there is no downside to have a race pushed back because that could give the designers more time to add better features
My "unpopular" opinion is Hrothgar should have been released in place of male viera so that female viera & male hrothgar looked more complete & would lack alot of the issues they currently have since they appear to be rushed. (and now, clearly ignored)
Since ShB I've always said "Why didn't they just focus on one race 1st?"
All I want is the red mage hat for my hrothgar. That’s all
I agree with this so much. The only reason we're in this situation now is because of the public demand. When F/V and M/H were introduced there was a massive outcry on how gender locking races is the most ludicrous thing in the world and needed to be fixed asap, there were forum posts and even articles online about it. I don't think anyone ever took into account just how much time was required to create new characters, and they definitely didn't consider how much the already-existing characters would get ignored so they could fix this "gender locking issue".
I simply do not understand the limitation excuse they keep giving. They literally create these headpieces that work with Elezen ears, Miqo ears, Lala ears and Au Ra horns but some bunny ears they can't handle?
Oh and don't even get me started on the new items coming out now that they implement with this ridiculous limitation. For example, I can almost guarantee the new All Saint's Wake hat won't work.
I wouldn't honestly care if the ears just disappeared with helmets, if people didn't like it they could just not use the helmets.
Not saying they shouldn't add pockets or holes the ears could go through ( altho if I wore a helmet and had those ears I'd want them protected lol, it's a miracle any Viera seeing combat still has them intact ), but just if they wanted a simple solution.
'' It doesn't make sense '' etc etc, I mean...
Why does my character get a magical breast reduction in so much gear?
It's not like it's '' making sense '' or is consistent anyways.
It's a bit funny too when the same people complain about revealing gear not making sense but then want their ears and tails to be out.
It'd be easier to lop them off than to get a hit in anywhere on the torso, your ears and tail wouldn't be important to protect?
Logic has no real place here imo.
It's the same with tails if I had a tail I'd probably bind it down and tuck it in or something, why would you want to have your tail out if you're wearing armor if people want to talk about logic then that should be the real question.
