Bard still being a visual eyesore.
It is not unreasonable to want a Bard that has more visual musical effects as opposed to arrow magic. Thematic confusion like this turns people off from touching the class. It might feel so fun to play, but if it looks boring, then it's pretty difficult to convince someone to go for it as opposed to something like Dancer which feels fun and looks amazing.
At least at level 90 they finally get some kind of visual song aura. That they should have gotten in ARR if not Heavensward at the earliest.
Two more years of Glarebroil spam.
At least we can weave into Glarebroil now.
Monk.
Monk has a rework that seems great at first, but that was also the case for Stormblood Monk and Shadowbringers Monk. And we are once again getting an unfinished rework that is missing core, integral parts.
- Anatman still does not do anything of any value whatsoever
- Basically every single OGCD was rolled into the Blitz system and there are no replacements
- Tornado Kick is being removed ENTIRELY at level 90, for a less pretty skill
- You still do your level 50 rotation all day, just with poor backflips inbetween.
- Their one source of OGCD SPam will be Forbidden Chakra during Brotherhood, which will proc between every Monk GCD.
- The latter change makes monk a poor solo job.
- All the buff timings do not line up with Monk's strongest moments, or raid wide buff windows.
- First-Time-Ultimate Clearers on Monk already said that it looks like it will need 25 seconds of pre-pull buffing to make the buffs line up.
- Monk losing Shoulder Tackle Exacerbates the lack of OGCDs. The teleports are a bandaid.
- Tornado Kick going away is such a travesty I will list it twice.
- Actually I will list Tornado Kick being removed thrice.
- Riddle of the Wind does nothing but buff your autoattacks. Complete meme skill.
- All your level 50 rotation skills still look exactly as they did five years ago. No exceptions. Compare to Dragoon or anyone else really.
- The Beast Chakra abilities are AoEs, while the actual AoE buttons don't give you the buffs. Random, and pointless.
- Fist stances going away just takes away gameplay variety on Monk.
That's a long list just for issues I can tell at a glance without having been a Monk main for long, or ever really. I only played it for a few months since the half rework in Shadowbringers.
To be fair, Shadowbringers Monk never looked good.
"Yay, we get a 3rd AoE!" (Guess we're losing effective potency on Rockbreaker and therefore any reason to use Perfect Balance for burst AoE.)
"Yay, we get an AoE spender!" (Guess we're no longer getting Chakra proc chances per enemy hit during Brotherhood.)
"Yay, we get a... immobile GL builder?" (Guess PB's getting nerfed and/or we're losing RoW.)
This doesn't actually annoy me, so long as we're balanced accordingly, as it really just means we'd be thereby slightly overbalanced in low-man scenarios and, by nature of being balanced around desync, less screwed over by a raid buffer dying.Quote:

Agreed. I could see FoF going away, as it has no reason to exist so long as one can turn off FoW or FoE, while FoW and FoE each inflict a small damage penalty for a greater than current movement speed or mitigation bonus.Quote:

All the tanks seem fine to me with the exception of DRK, I do not look forward to his non-existent changes. Bard and machinist look almost the same to me so there is nothing exciting there. I also find scholars extremely boring to play and I don't find new changes for Astro interesting.
Not look forward to GNB having even more continuation and stuff to squeeze in no mercy while having to move the boss or kitchen sink CDs during it.
I play on PS4, so not for me.
I main Summoner, so I'm looking forward to the changes.
I also plan to go Reaper.'
What I'm NOT looking forward to, is because of the leaks and media tour people are going to expect me to know the new rotation because they're already creating it, 3 days into the new expansion.
I'm sorry, I don't read ahead or watch the leaks, and didn't like the media tour being able to spoil things. So no, I'm not going to know my rotation or anyone's created form of it, I'll learn it at my own pace and in a form that works best for me.
SMN. I like the current iteration a whole lot, and I don't like what it's going to turn into based on what I can tell from looking at the pre-release stuff. I want my DoT management back and to keep the whole diffrent burst into diffrent burst while filling in with Egi Assaults thing.
People really overstated how bad SMN is, it's not bad at all, it's just a bit jank at the start but once it gets going has a quite nice flow to it.

And now they're tossing that all aside because a few peabrains couldn't understand how it works and memed shit to death about "muh aesthetics" and "muh jank", getting a unique job gutted in the process and not having a replacement for those who actually liked the gameplay style. It's Stormblood AST into Shadowbringers AST all over again and I hate it... but at least the SMN rework isn't a complete fucking over of the class lore like the ShB and EW AST """""reworks""""" have been.
Highly unpopular opinion, but I'll sorely miss Noct AST
I mean, I love that AST is getting a bunch of changes, enough to make it feel that it's no longer "WHM 2.0", but as far as feeling like a shield healer goes, Noct has more reliable shields, and just more shields overall than SCH. Even if SCH is an all around good, or even outright better healer, the shielding aspect of the job fell to the sideline around mid HW levels in favor for fairy stuff and utility, whereas Noct's like "you get a shield, and you get a shield, and you get a shield, everyone gets a shield!" as soon as you hit 50.
Hopefully SGE fills that void, though the fact everyone is calling it "SCH 2.0" has me just a little worried, if I'm being honest.
